The May Festival

The May Festival is an anime-exclusive local celebration that occurs over Lake May in the Hoenn region.

Legend says that anyone who witnesses the Illumise and Volbeat's light dancing will be blessed with good luck. The Firefly Pokémon perform light formations, with the night sky and reflective lake surface adding to the event's overall ambiance.

In Love at First Flight, Ash and his friends assisted Romeo in gaining his confidence and eventually confessing his love for his performance partner and childhood friend, Juliet. The May Festival took place that night without a hitch.
