Max Particle
Max Particles are a currency in Pokémon GO. Their mysterious energy enables Pokémon to Dynamax.[1] Players can acquire Max Particles by interacting with Power Spots, walking, or using Max Particle Packs. Max Particles are used to participate in Max Battles and unlock or level up Max Moves.
Acquisition
Method | Max Particles |
---|---|
Power Spots | |
Interact with a Power Spot | 100 |
for the first time | +20 |
Walking | |
Walk 2 km | 300 |
Other | |
Use a Max Particle Pack | 800 |
Limits
Players can only hold 1,000 at any time, and can only earn 800 each day.
Both of these are soft limits. For example, if a player has earned 780 in a single day and walks 2 km to earn another 300, they will have 1,080. At that point, they cannot earn any more Max Particles or use any Max Particle Packs since they are over the carry limit. Even if they spend Max Particles to go under the carry limit, the player will still have to wait until the next day to earn more since they are also over the daily earn limit. The daily limits reset at 5 a.m. local time.
Receiving Max Particles from completing a research task, redeeming a code, or using a Max Particle Pack does not count against the daily earn limit. Completing research tasks and redeeming codes are both possible while over the carry limit, but players must be under the carry limit to use Max Particle Packs.
