Map equipment, sometimes called navigational items, are an essential part of the Pokémon journey that most Trainers undertake.
The simplest type of map equipment is the Town Map, which simply displays a map of the region. Certain regions have had different counterparts with additional features.
- In Kanto, the map equipment is the Town Map, stored with the other items in the player's Bag.
- In Johto, the map equipment is the Pokégear, which has a map and other features.
- In Hoenn, the map equipment is the PokéNav, which also helps Trainers in Contests as well as giving directions. In Generation VI, it is the PokéNav Plus's AreaNav mode.
- In Sinnoh, the map equipment is the Town Map, but there is also the Pokétch, with 25 different functions including some map-related ones. In Generation VIII, the Town Map is located in the menu.
- In Unova, the map equipment is the Town Map.
- In Kalos, the map equipment is the Town Map.
- In Lumiose City in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the map equipment is the Rotom Phone, which has a map and other features, such as the Missions list.
- In Alola, the map equipment is the Rotom Pokédex, which has a map and other features in addition to being a Pokédex.
- In Galar, the map equipment is the Town Map, located in the menu.
- In Hisui, the map equipment is the Arc Phone, which has a map and other features.
- In Paldea, the map equipment is the Rotom Phone, which has a map and other features, including a Pokédex.
