Plot

Liko, a beginner Trainer from Paldea, enrolls at Indigo Academy in Kanto and receives Sprigatito as her first partner Pokémon. She encounters Amethio and becomes targeted by the mysterious organization called Explorers due to her pendant, which briefly reveals a mysterious Pokémon. Friede and the Rising Volt Tacklers intervene, rescuing Sprigatito from Amethio's captivity, and Liko joins their crew as they head for Paldea.

Upon arriving in Paldea, Liko meets Roy, who befriends a stowaway Fuecoco traveling with the Rising Volt Tacklers. When the Explorers attack Roy's hometown, his Ancient Poké Ball opens to reveal a Black Rayquaza before it flies away. Roy catches Fuecoco and joins the Rising Volt Tacklers. After this incident, Gibeon removes Amethio from the mission and assigns it to Spinel instead. Dot, who streams as the popular Nidothing, eventually tags along with Liko and Roy. The group discovers a giant Arboliva holding another Ancient Poké Ball, which goes into the ball under Liko's care. They learn about Lucius, an ancient adventurer connected to the Ancient Poké Balls.

After Spinel steals Liko's pendant, the group travels to Levincia where Dot catches her first Pokémon, Quaxly, and helps retrieve the pendant. The Rising Volt Tacklers then journey to Galar, where Liko catches a Hatenna and they locate Lucius's third Pokémon, a Galarian Moltres, which joins Liko's care. The mysterious Pokémon from the pendant fully emerges and is identified as Terapagos when the group meets Liko's grandmother Diana at her castle. The arc concludes with Diana tagging along with the Rising Volt Tacklers and revealing that Lucius's remaining three Pokémon are Lapras, Kleavor, and Entei.
