Ken's main tactic is a high-risk high return one, using powerful attacks that damage the user as well. A deck with a balance of Water and Fighting types can defeat his deck. An early strike tactic causing slow but steady damage can thwart his strategy of recoil damaging attacks, as they will risk knocking out his Pokémon out as well. Chansey is particularly weak, with its Double-edge causing 80 damage to itself, leaving it open to weaker attacks.

Go Arcanine! Deck

Main article: Go Arcanine! Deck (TCG)

Go Arcanine! Deck (Japanese: ゆけ!ウィンディデッキ) is played by Ken, the Club Master of the Fire Club. It focuses mainly on   type Pokémon. Defeating Ken will get the player a Island of Fossil booster pack and a Psychic Battle booster pack. Later, Ken acquires some Sky Flying Pokémon packs after the player frees Mitch from the GR Fighting Fort and will then give the player a Psychic Battle pack and a Sky Flying Pokémon pack as prizes instead.

Ken starts the game trapped in a cage with his Fire Club members. After GR3 is defeated for the second time, he leaves the Fire Club and all members are freed. Ken still cannot be battled at this point, but will be able to accept challenges after freeing Steve at the GR Lightning Fort.
