(Japanese: カイト Kaito) is the main character in Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl: Regigigas Major Capture Operation!!
History
Kaito was in the bottom floor of the Snowpoint Temple where he found Regigigas. Unfortunately, it did not wake up and Kaito left Snowpoint Temple since it was too cold there. After talking to Yuki, he went to Professor Rowan to see as to how it could wake up. After Professor Rowan explained to Kaito and Yuki as to how it could wake up, Katio and Yuki went to Kento as they only had Regirock and Registeel, respectively. Since Kento had Regice, Kento decided to go to Snowpoint Temple right away.
Kaito returned to Snowpoint Temple with Yuki and Kento. After the three Trainers had the legendary giants out, Regigigas woke up and it went on a rampage. Kaito then battled Regigigas using Infernape. Kaito had no trouble battling it at first since Infernape kept on doing damage to it. Despite doing that, Kaito had a lot of trouble catching Regigigas. Kaito had no idea as to why he couldn't catch it but it turned out that Regigigas had the Slow Start Ability where it would need to take some time to show off its true power. Because of that, Regigigas became a lot stronger than Kaito had expected.
When the battle continued, both sides had already taken considerable damage. Kaito told Infernape that its next hit was the last. He had Infernape use Flare Blitz. This was enough for Kaito to catch Regigigas. Kaito succeeded in catching Regigigas. Afterwards, he left the Snowpoint Temple but apparently forgot about Yuki and Kento, who were left hanging on the ice floor.

| Infernape is Kaito's second known Pokémon. He sent it out to battle Regigigas. After a long battle, Infernape was able to weaken Regigigas in order for Kaito to catch it.
Infernape's known moves are Mach Punch, Flamethrower, and Flare Blitz. | ||

| Kaito encountered Regigigas in Snowpoint Temple. Using the legendary giants, Kaito was able to wake it up and engaged it in a battle with Infernape. Because of its Ability, Slow Start, Regigigas took a lot of damage but this wasn't enough for Kaito to catch it. After Regigigas showed its true power, Infernape had a lot of trouble taking it on. After a long battle, Kaito was able to catch Regigigas.
