Jaws (TCG)

Jaws is a Water type deck found in the Gym Challenge Strategy Guide. The deck is classified in the guide as an easy-to-build deck as it contains few rare cards, with the aim that a player of any age or skill level could complete it.

Description

The "Jaws" deck gets its name from the huge Water Pokémon the deck uses to win. Misty's Gyarados has 100 Hit Points and can do 70 damage with its Tidal Wave attack, and it's only a Stage 1 Pokémon. Now that's a monster from the deep! But this is one sea monster that doesn't like being tamed. Misty's Gyarados's Rebellion Pokémon Power gives it a nasty habit of diving back into your deck with all the Energy that you've attached. You can use Goop Gas Attack to tame Misty's Gyarados and keep it from rebelling. Goop Gas Attack keeps Pokémon Powers from working — including Rebellion.

When you play this deck, don't ever make Misty's Magikarp your Active Pokémon unless you have no choice. It's just too easy for your opponent to Knock Out Misty's Magikarp, and then you won't get a chance to evolve it into Misty's Gyarados. Use Misty's Wrath, Master Ball, and Pokémon Trader to find Misty's Magikarp and Misty's Gyarados. Misty's Tears will make sure you have enough Energy to power Misty's Gyarados's Tidal Wave. Use your other Pokémon to delay and frustrate your opponent until you can get Misty's Gyarados ready to attack.
