Plot

After parting with the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers, Dot meets with Penny somewhere, both wearing disguises to infiltrate Exceed Museum safely. As they're discussing their plans to obtain the data on Laquium, Gimmighoul spills its coins, prompting the group to help the Coin Chest Pokémon pick it up. In the process, Dot realizes how close Gimmighoul is to evolving into its idol. When it's near the museum's closing time, Dot and Penny begin to infiltrate the place. Once inside, they send out their partners to help defeat the guard Pokemon. With help from Cervantis, the girls manage to get to the floor that's been concealed from the public. However, Gimmighoul decides to return to the previous floor to look for more coins and gets caught by Indi and Rubina, who are investigating the cause of the guards being knocked out. While Dot and Penny succeed in obtaining the data, Gimmighoul controls the two Explorers into looking for coins until the girls arrive. In an attempt to escape, the girls also run into Chalce, who was informed of the situation earlier.

Seeing the Rotom Phone in Dot's hand, Chalce orders Indi and Rubina to capture the girls, with the three Explorers calling out and using Strong Spheres on their respective partners to battle them. Dot faces off against Indi's Drapion and Rubina's Scolipede while Penny sends out her Jolteon to assist her Sylveon against Chalce's Medicham and Xatu. Drapion and Scoliopede both use Poison-type attacks, so Tinkaton takes them since it has no effect on her while Quaxwell counters with Air Cutter. Meanwhile, Penny manages to land a supereffective Moonblast and Thunder Fang on Chalce's Pokémon, knocking them down and causing the latter to resort to other measures. Seeing Gimmighoul wandering around, Chalce has Xatu capture the Coin Chest Pokémon to use as a hostage. When Dot chases after Chalce to get Gimmighoul back, the latter presses a button to lower the shutters, not only to separate the girls from each other, but to also remove the type advantage they had. Even though Gimmighoul feels guilty for causing the situation, Dot reassures it they can still win, getting Tinkaton to charge up in preparation for Gigaton Hammer. Chalce immediately sees through this since it's not the first time Dot pulled it off and has Xatu Teleport in front of Tinkaton before she can attack and attack with Aerial Ace. Quaxwell tries to counter, but a Teleport from Xatu results in him accidentally attacking Tinkaton instead. Tinkaton retaliates with another Gigaton Hammer when Xatu teleports behind it, only for the Mystic Pokémon to use Power Swap to switch their Attack power, rendering the Hammer Pokémon unable to lift her hammer. Gimmighoul watches as both of Chalce's Pokémon deal severe damage to Dot's Pokémon and decides to no longer stand by, taking the attack meant to finish off its allies. However, Chalce also seizes the moment to snatch the Rotom Phone holding the data from Dot when she is stunned by Gimmighoul's action. Now desperate to get the phone back, Dot notices Gimmighoul reaching for a coin along with the brief glow it emanated. She realizes the implication of that and has Gimmighoul distract the unimpressed Chalce with Astonish while she goes for the coin. Once she retrieves the coin, Dot tosses it to Gimmighoul, allowing it to evolve into Gholdengo.

Gholdengo uses its new surfboard to retrieve Dot's Rotom Phone, while Dot recalls Quaxwell and Tinkaton into their Poké Balls. Dot then boards Gholdengo's surfboard and has the Coin Entity Pokémon break through the shutters with Make It Rain. When she reaches her friend, Dot is both surprised and relieved to see Penny had won her battle against Indi and Rubina. She calls out to Penny to recall her Pokemon, which she complies with, before scooping her up onto the surfboard. With another Make It Rain to shatter the window, Dot and Penny successfully escape from the museum, though Chalce assumes they wouldn't be able to change the situation much at this stage. Dot drops off Penny, who promises to give the data to Jacq for further analysis, before rejoining the Rising Volt Tacklers and urging them to leave right away so that the Explorers won't come after them. In the daytime, as Dot examines the data, she gets a shocking call from Friede, who reveals he is on his way back from space.
