Blurb

Liko, Roy, and Ult have arrived in Cortondo to meet up with Dot and tell Murdock about their plans to restore the Rising Volt Tacklers. Murdock, who has been working as a pastry chef at Katy’s Patisserie Soapberry, is worried about the young Trainers’ safety, so Katy challenges Liko to a battle to demonstrate her skills. To everyone’s surprise (and Meowscarada’s disappointment), the Gym Leader chooses Pagogo as the opponent for her Ursaring, which is able to Terastallize into a Bug type. How will Liko and Pagogo approach this new challenge?

Plot

Liko, Roy, and Ult arrive at Patisserie Soapberry in Cortondo just as Murdock enthusiastically greets Dot, who arrived at the same time in a Flying Taxi. Katy exits her store to greet Liko, and everyone heads upstairs to eat some sweets. Liko and Roy introduce Ult to Murdock as Alcremie creates some whipped cream for Pagogo. Seeing the whipped cream, Ult asks for some too, only for Crocalor, Tinkatuff, and Kilowattrel to ask for some as well, causing the group to fight. Fed up with the fighting, Liko's Hattrem and Captain Pikachu set them in order, allowing Alcremie to happily make some whipped cream for the four of them. Cap is introduced to Katy, who notices Liko has an additional partner since they last met.

Roy asks about Murdock's Rockruff, and is happy to learn it evolved into a Midday Form Lycanroc. When Lycanroc appears before them, almost everyone is stunned to see it chubby while Liko finds it cute, petting it along with Quaxwell and Pagogo. When Dot asks how it came to be this way, Murdock sheepishly revealed it was from tasting all the sweets he made since he started working at Patisserie Soapberry after the Rising Volt Tacklers disbanded. Ult continues to stuff himself with sweets as everyone is talking, but ends up choking on them. He is unable to interact with Katy well after she offers a drink to help him, and he falls over when she approaches him. Dot and Sableye help him up, but Ult becomes shocked when he finds out Dot is actually a girl, unable to discern from the Rotom Phone this whole time.

Trying to divert the attention away, Ult brings up the Explorers, Exceed, and the Strong Sphere. Dot bluntly reveals they're starting their adventure again, with Liko and Roy explaining they reformed the Rising Volt Tacklers to retrieve the truth and expose the Explorers. Katy is pleased to see the kids have created their own path while Murdock becomes concerned for them. Despite Liko's attempts to ease his worries, Murdock remains unconvinced. Katy suggests having a battle with Liko to alleviate Murdock's worries, which she agrees to. The Gym Leader then reveals her Teddiursa, Teddy, had evolved into Ursaring before choosing Pagogo as her opponent, catching the others off guard.

At the battlefield, Pagogo transforms into its Terastal Form before the battle starts. Katy begins by having Teddy use High Horsepower, which Pagogo blocks with Protect before using Ancient Power that is smacked away by Teddy with Hammer Arm. Teddy keeps on the offensive by attacking with Fury Cutter, shattering Pagogo's Protect and sending it flying. Liko sends Pagogo straight to Teddy with a plan in mind. When the two Pokémon are close enough, Katy attempts to have the Hibernator Pokémon use Hammer Arm to beat down Pagogo, but Liko has it attack with Rapid Spin to land some attacks. Impressed by Liko's growth, Katy Terastallizes Teddy into the Bug type. Pagogo attacks with Ancient Power, its stats increasing in the process, as Teddy charges towards the Tera Pokémon with a flurry of Fury Cutters. Pagogo holds on until it makes a signal to Liko, who has it use Tera Starstorm, successfully defeating Teddy when it couldn't defend itself.

Liko, Roy and Dot agreeing to get the Brave Olivine

While the others congratulate Liko on her win, Murdock tells Liko she had shown him what one would expect from a Rising Volt Tackler, completely alleviated of his worries. Now that Murdock is in the loop, Ult suggests moving on elsewhere. As Roy and Ult argue, Dot agrees with going elsewhere now, but prefers to gather information for their investigation at the same time. As one, the three young Rising Volt Tacklers realize they need the Brave Olivine. To Liko and Dot's dismay, Murdock reveals Orla planned to dismantle the airship after they separated. However, Roy and Ult come up with the idea of asking Orla to make a new airship for them. With a plan set in course, the kids set off to meet Orla while Murdock and Katy see them off. Shortly after, Murdock reveals despite being the one who declared the Rising Volt Tacklers should disband in order to not hold the kids back, he still wanted to travel with everyone. Katy advises Murdock he could still fly since Liko and the others have done so despite their complicated circumstances, making Murdock come to a realization of his own.
