Release information
This card was included in the Paradox Rift expansion, first released in the Japanese Raging Surf subset. In Japan, it was reprinted as a Mirage Holofoil SV-P Promotional card and was one of the cards participants received upon entry into regional Champion's League events held during the 2023-2024 season. These included:
- The 2024 Yokohama Champion's League, held at the Pacifico Yokohama on September 9 and 10, 2023[1]
- The 2024 Kyoto Champions League, held at the Kyoto Pulse Plaza on December 23 and 24, 2023[2]
- The 2024 Fukuoka Champion's League, held at Marine Messe Fukuoka on February 17 and 18, 2024[3]
- The 2024 Aichi Champion's League, held at the Aichi International Exhibition Center in Tokoname on April 13 and 14, 2024[4]
- The 2024 Sapporo Champion's League, held at the Sapporo Dome on May 3 and 4, 2024[5]
The SV-P Promotional print was also one of the cards participants received upon entry into the 2024 Pokémon Japan Championships, which were held at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center in Yokohama, Kanagawa on June 1 and 2, 2024.[6] The Master League tournaments at each Champion's League meeting and the 2024 Pokémon Japan Championships were live-streamed on video platforms NicoNico and YouTube, during which copies of this card could be won through Twitter campaigns. Refer to the viewer campaign sections of these events for more information. The SV-P Promotional print features the Championship Series 2024 logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration.
Trivia
This card's SV-P Promotional print alludes to Gimmighoul's association with the number 999, as it is numbered 099/SV-P and was planned to be distributed beginning September 9 (9/9), 2023 at 9:00 a.m. (postponed to 10:00 a.m. due to a typhoon warning).[7]
Origin
This card features Chest Form Gimmighoul. Corkscrew Punch is an attack that first appeared on Machop from Expansion Sheet 2. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Scarlet.
