Empoleon is an All-Rounder that can use its Torrent ability to empower its moves, increasing its attack power and sustainability. Depending on the moves chosen, it can fight from afar or up close.

- Sovereign Slide may be based on how Empoleon slides on its stomach in other spin-off games such as PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure and Pokken Tournament. It may also be based on Aqua Jet or Waterfall.
- Empoleon is the first Pokémon to appear in the free dice event that is not a Legendary nor Mythical.
