This card is required to apply for the "Communication Evolution Campaign". For more details, please read the back of the "Expansion Sheet Green Edition" that came with this card.
Release information
In Japan, this card was available on sheets sixteen and seventeen of Expansion Sheet 3. It was the integral card for the Communication Evolution Campaign, which launched with the release of the Expansion Sheet on November 24, 1998 and ran until April 30, 1999. People could apply to obtain a copy of Omastar, Gengar, Machamp, Golem, or Alakazam by sending any print of its corresponding prerequisite evolution together with a copy of this card to Media Factory in the mail.
The campaign is mimicked in Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!, requiring this card to be exchanged at the Game Center. The in-game version of the card has different text following the card effect and reads: "This card is required at Bill's PC in the corner of Team GR Game Center. For more details, please ask at the Game Center."
All of the Pokémon available through the campaign evolve via trade in the Pokémon games, except Omanyte, which evolves at level 40.
