Appearance

Ansha is a short, young girl with fair complexion. Her hair is mostly covered in her fluffy white hat; the hair on the back of her head is styled to resemble a mochi donut. She wears a knee-length black overcoat with a fluffy pink collar over a white sweater, and black shoes with fluffy pink legwarmers, and she carries a small white backpack with golden ornaments. When cooking donuts, Ansha dons her cooking attire, consisting of a bluish-gray apron and head scarf with a donut pattern; Naveen and Lida later sewed the Team MZ logo onto her apron.

Personality

Ansha is a young girl who shows surprising maturity and eloquence by the way she speaks and is also polite with the adults around her, addressing them properly. She enjoys making donuts and has been getting better at it over the years: this ability and her caring and kind personality has led the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa to gather an interest in her and two ended up becoming friends. She cares a lot for her mother Diantha, so much so that she wants to get the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza to give her as a present. Despite this, she seems to be worried that she might not live up to the expectations of being a Champion's daughter, should she pursue being a Pokémon Trainer herself. Moreover, she seems saddened by the fact she does not get to spend much time with her mother, given how busy she is with her acting career.

History

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Mega Dimension

Ansha is a talented donut chef who, along with her partner Hoopa, seeks the legendary Pokémon Rayquaza to give to her "dear mama", Diantha. Along the way, Ansha seeks the help of Team MZ to make a donut that will give Hoopa a surge of power, and ends up guiding them to Hyperspace Lumiose.

At some point in the past, Hoopa had its power clamped down by the Prison Bottle so it wouldn't go rampaging all over, remaining in its Confined form since then. It also seems to have developed some animosity towards the Prison Bottle, refusing to change back into its Unbound form.

About 6 months prior to the events of Mega Dimension, Ansha happened upon Hoopa, heavily weakened after losing a battle to a mighty Pokémon it played a prank on. She fed it a fresh-baked donut, granting its strength back and since then, it followed her around, helping her visit Hyperspace Lumiose through the use of its Hyperspace Holes.

It appears alongside Ansha while at the rooftop of Hotel Z. Eating donuts baked by her, it gains the power to use its Hyperspace Holes and open up the distortions across Lumiose, which allowed her and the rest of Team MZ to access new pockets of hyperspace. To enter the distortion above Prism Tower to reach and defeat Darkrai, Hoopa needed to eat the special donut, "Bad Dreams Cruller", infused the power of Mega Evolution, gaining the power of its Unbound Form and successfully allowing the group to reach Hyperspace Newmoon Nightmare.

In Side Mission #196 The Djinn Unbound, Urbain/Taunie found the Prison Bottle among AZ's belongings. When Hoopa saw it, another Hoopa, in its Unbound form, suddenly appeared in hyperspace. Paxton/Harmony caught the angered Hoopa and obtained the Prison Bottle from Urbain/Taunie as both Ansha and Hoopa express that the player keep the bottle away from it, preferring to keep it in its Confined form.

Hoopa's only known move is Hyperspace Hole.

A few months prior to the events of Mega Dimension, Ansha witnessed a Rayquaza flying over her in Hyperspace Lumiose. Inspired to catch it for her mother, she sought out Team MZ to help her track it down. Thanks to Ansha's story about Rayquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon, Team MZ successfully summoned a distortion above Hotel Z that'd lead to a pocket of hyperspace housing Rayquaza. The team travelled to Hyperspace Sky Pillar, battled the Rogue Mega Rayquaza and defeated it, with Paxton/Harmony catching it. Having finally met Rayquaza, Ansha expressed her desire to hold off on presenting it to her mom until she became a Pokémon Trainer herself, and asked the player to look after Rayquaza until that day.

Rayquaza's known moves upon capture are Dragon Ascent, Hyper Voice, Outrage, and Meteor Beam.

Trivia

  • Ansha's Hoopa's love for donuts appears to reference the animated Pokémon movie Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, which features a Hoopa that loves to eat donuts.
  • The beginning of Ansha's theme contains elements of her mother's battle theme.
  • Ansha is currently the only friend character from the core series to not appear in any sort of battle at all.
    • She is also the only member of Team MZ who is not a Trainer and cannot be battled as well.
