Zubat will shriek, and then based on the time and direction from which an echo returns to it, Zubat determines the structure of its surroundings. Also, by screeching at shrieky, high-pitched frequencies, Zubat is often able to {{status|confusion|disorient and confuse}} its foes with the treble, shrill noises it expels. It is in this manner that Zubat use attacks such as {{m|Supersonic}} or {{m|Confuse Ray}}. Zubat are so persistent and capable in this expertise that the misfortune of happening across one has become somewhat of a famed encounter through its bothersome abundance. Besides this, Zubat will occasionally attack using its teeth and/or wings. Moves like {{m|Bite}} and {{m|Poison Fang}} can be credited to Zubat’s fangs, as can attacks such as {{m|Leech Life}} or {{m|Giga Drain}}, which is in reference to Zubat’s bloodsucking nature. Also impressive, Zubat is one of few exclusive Pokémon that has the ability to use {{m|Air Cutter}}, an attack it would execute using its wings.
