It is obtained by rescuing {{p|Medicham}} of [[Team Meanies]] in [[Wish Cave]].
 
In the original games, the item appears in the inventory and can be lost, with another Wish Stone able to be found on Wish Cave 50F. In the remake, the Wishing Stone is no longer an item that appears in the inventory and thus can not be lost once obtained.

The Wish Stone has only one use.  At the end of Wish Cave, the player will battle {{p|Jirachi}}.  Upon being defeated, Jirachi will automatically ask to join the rescue team.  However, if the player possesses the Wish Stone and turns down Jirachi's offer to join the team, Jirachi will offer to grant the player a wish.
