Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Zesty Cactus!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Zesty Cactus/Archive 1/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --MoldyOrange 23:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, {{p|Snorlax}} instead of just [[Snorlax]]. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. ----The Kkllnnator サンタクロース 20:27, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Uh, just wondering, did you check out the templates yet? {{type2|Bug}}, not [[Bug (type)|Bug-type]]. Aside from preventing disambig links, they make life easy.--The Kkllnnator サンタクロース 21:01, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Grats

Congrats on the Gen III pokedex, I don't blame you for cheating on gettin g the ones you did it's rediculus for nintendo to think that just any person can visit all the nintendo events to get those. Does your mew/Deoxys listen to you? I'm just wondering if the cheat you used bypasses that flag issue that makes them not listen -- D558 06:41, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I live in Canada, so I couldn't even attend the events if I wanted to. All of my cheat Pokémon obey me, I've even trained my Mew quite a bit (lv. 68-ish) and my Deoxys a little, too. For Mew and Deoxys I just cheated to get the event item in my inventory, but for Celebi and Jirachi I just used the wild Pokémon modifier, and they obey me, too. Zesty Cactus 15:07, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
cool, I live in Canada as well so, along with me not really wanting to be at a convention with such big crowds of overwhelming fans, it is nearly impossible for me to get such exclusive pokemon. -- D558 16:05, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Dude

The image namespace is a thing of the past. Everyone is supposed to use "File" now, because that's what all the page names are at. I know what I'm doing. If I put it at File, I have a good reason, and it shouldn't be changed. Just letting you know, image is outdated and we now use file. MaverickNate 00:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Template:Books

No one would mind if you added all the needed books to this template. It might raise the awareness of what needs to be created. It would also be less stressful to add everything in one big edit, instead of making a hundred small edits. MaverickNate 18:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

!GMO

I don't know who you are, but the work that you did on the Spanish Pokemon CD and the Books template is truly outstanding. =[ I don't know how you do it, but you should like...TOTALLY BE AN ADMIN OF BULBAPEDIA OR SOMETHING. Not to mention your knowledge of templates and the way you use them is admirable. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, YOU ZESTY CACTUS YOU. Dany36 03:20, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Face it Dany36, ZC's not gonna be an admin right this moment. Any regular user could be good at templates. --CUBONE (Planet CuboneBone Club) PWNS 03:23, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Is this how you guys motivate users to keep improving the wiki? Shooting down their hopes of eventually becoming an admin JUST LIKE THAT? That's just cold, man, just plain COLD. *shivers* :( Dany36 03:28, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, ok. Zesty, good work. Dany, calm down. --CUBONE (Planet CuboneBone Club) PWNS 03:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh yeah, and hear how I said RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT. Anyone has the potential to be an admin. (Except for vandals like Ph34r and Protopass) --CUBONE (Planet CuboneBone Club) PWNS 03:34, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Haha, I appreciate the kind words Cubone, but dany is my friend and that was kind of a joke comment. XD Sorry if you got confused! Zesty Cactus 03:37, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: FYI

Oh, thanks. *CuboneKing snapped out of confusion! CuboneKing used JUDGMENT!!!!* --CUBONE (Planet CuboneBone Club) PWNS 03:38, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Books

Instead of just pasting the coding have you tried making it a template? --☆Coolピカチュウ! 23:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Will do that now... I wasn't sure if I was allowed to make templates ;___; Zesty Cactus 23:27, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Moar Link Templates

For every non-card TCG page, make sure to use {{TCG}}. That's the reason why every single TCG page has (TCG) tagged on the end. For cards, use {{TCG ID}}, and it's Expedition Base Set, not just Expedition. Thanks. MaverickNate 01:17, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

One minor thing

Hello there,

Please don't send unnesscesscary things on my user talk when you don't have to. Save yourself some time.
That is all.

That Guy With The Codes 23:34, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't think my talk page comment was unneccessary. You're marking everything as "minor", even things that should be major edits. Zesty Cactus 23:41, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
A lot of people do that though. Even some admins like Kogoro and Shiningpikablu252. There's really no rule against it. I do agree with you though, but it's not against the rules. --ケンジガール 23:45, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm.

so, what relation do you have with Thatguywiththecodes? -- MAGNEDETH 22:22, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Little brother. Why do you ask? Zesty Cactus 22:23, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
ok, thats fine. but be aware, according to him, he was using your account on the forums. he didnt do anything and idk what he was doing with it, but, just be aware. -- MAGNEDETH 06:23, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Crap, really? Thanks for letting me know. I'll like... take it out of my saved passwords/etc so he can't get in again. ZestyCactus 16:37, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Trivia on card pages

Unless there is more than one piece of trivia, the * is not supposed to be there. Stop adding it in. MaverickNate 23:13, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't know. ZestyCactus 01:07, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

User namespace

What is the user: namespace? - unsigned comment from Gengarblood3 (talkcontribs)

The User: namespace means anything with the article title User:(Blahblahblah). So, User:Zesty Cactus/Sandbox and User:Gengarblood3 are both examples of the User: namespace. It's cool to edit the user namespace once in a while, but if you're editing it all the time (i.e. it shows up like 5 times on Recent changes) and not conributing much to the main articles of Bulbapedia then... not good. DX (I'll post this on your talk page, too, incase you don't see it here.) ZestyCactus 17:55, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

When can I edit the User: namespace again - unsigned comment from Gengarblood3 (talkcontribs)

Maybe even tomorrow. Just don't edit it a lot. Try to shoot for saving no more than three times a day. Maybe try using the "preview" button to see how it looks before saving? We don't mind if you edit your user space, it's just about not saving it a million times a day (especially if you save it a million times a day without helping out with some of the regular articles too) ZestyCactus 18:07, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Also, if you could sign your comments by typing four tildes (~~~~) or by pressing this button "(button_sig.png)", that would be cool :) it's so that your comment will be timestamped, so we know when you wrote it. Thanks! ZestyCactus 18:07, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Mexico

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. How many times do I have to say this - the individual countries of Latin America do NOT get their own articles. If you want, you write up an article called Pokémon in Latin America, but Pokémon in Mexico ain't gonna fly. Neither will Argentina or Ecuador. Just... no. Brazil is fine because they have a separate dub in another language, but NOT Mexico. What more - if you had bothered looking in the project page, you would've noticed that we hold a strict "no stubs allowed" rule, and that to create an article not on the list you must have approval from me or another admin. I'm deleting that article. --electAbuzzzz 07:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Userspace

gotta watch out for previous warnings. -- MAGNEDETH 18:57, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry

I'm sorry I will stop editing my userpage today. I just ♥ my user tags. Shoulda listened to Tommy-san(my brother).----Sandshrew-sanSEGOOGA! 18:59, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Pocket Monsters

I have the second volume of Pocket Monsters :D! Once I'm done reading it I can edit information on it (I'm telling you this because I saw your to-do-list and it has "Pocket Monsters" on it). I'm a member of Project Manga as well, so we may be working together occasionally. * --T☆MMYSAN!

That'll really be a big help, thank you! :) Out of curiosity, are you reading the Japanese version or Chuang Yi? ZestyCactus 20:55, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Kazunari

Nothing is to be put down until the episode airs. Until it airs, nothing is to be mentioned. --ケンジガール 01:06, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry. I got a little confused because Pikatwig was also adding stuff. ZestyCactus 01:07, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
It's alright. Pikatwig has a habit of jumping the gun. --ケンジガール 01:09, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

One tiny question.

About the Pokémon around the world pages, would it be stupid to add like England or the United States?--Midnight Blue 04:50, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Yup. Not allowed to do English-speaking countries. :/ ZestyCactus 04:51, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Why, b/c this is already an English Pokémon Wiki?--Midnight Blue 04:52, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
More or less. I double-checked the project page and apparently it's being "debated", but unless it's ok'd by ElectAbuzzzz, it's a no-go. Same goes for Japan. ZestyCactus 04:55, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
You seem to be doing a lot of work for Project Globe. Have you considered joining it? Alpha CuboneKing 04:53, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
I might as well, shouldn't I? I've been doing enough work for it. :P ZestyCactus 04:55, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

my bad

lol my bad. i totally forgot grammer. it's = it is. its = its (property/owenership-wise) thanks LugiaRocks 00:08, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey man, don't worry about it. :D We all slip up sometimes. ZestyCactus 00:09, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Updated to include details of ditto trick

I just typed up a full explanation for you :) I hope it helps.- unsigned comment from OwnageMuch (talkcontribs)

Thanks, cheers! :) ZestyCactus 22:40, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Main Space Evolution Charts/Project Shiny

So here's the problem: Many of the pokemon evolution charts (especially for the GEN. IV Pokemon) are not labeled correctly. For example, under Buneray, it states that it can not evolve. How can we change this? I have been all over the help guides and other pages, but i cannot find any tips to fix this. This is a major edit that needs to be fixed. Also, is there some kind of Project Shiny, like Project Anime, Shipping etc. If not, I would like to start one/get some help starting one. --Blaziken=Tahu 19:13, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Buneary's shows up fine for me, although if you find any more, just compare it to a Pokémon's that shows up right and see what's different/wrong and change it to match. Which Pokémon exactly have this problem? Maybe I could look at them and figure out what exactly is wrong with them. As for Project Shiny, the projects page doesn't list anything for shininess, so I don't think there is such a thing, but if you feel you should create one you can, the guidelines for a project are also listed on the projects page. ZestyCactus 19:37, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, so its been fixed for that page. There are still a few more that might need it (haven't checked in a while) and I am still looking through the entire Pokedex (I am at Exeggutor). As soon as I have a full list, I will let you know. And I am going to be starting the Project Shiny soon. I will let you know when I have the page up. --Blaziken=Tahu 16:54, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Notice template in userspace

That's OK, I was gonna take it down myself when I noticed it was the only userspace page on the "Articles needing editing" (or such) Category page. Whoops! Actually it was originally posted in the userspace article since it's test article of one that will be going live at somepoint soon and so I wanted to account for everything before it went live. That's my excuse anyways. :3 - Nick15 00:52, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry about it :) I figured that was what you were doing. Cheers. ZestyCactus 00:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

May's VAs

I'll explain so you understand the situation better. It happens that in episodes of the anime (which are dubbed into Spanish in Mexico), May has been dubbed by 2 voice actresses, Ana Lobo and Mariana Ortiz. Liliana Barba is also a voice actress, has participated in the dubbing of Pokémon yet she has never bent to May or other important person, only doubled to secondary characters. As for the 6th/7th movie, the situation changes that these movies were dubbed in Argentina and not in Mexico, so to be bent in another country is used another cast of voices for the characters. The thing is, the Latin American Pokémon fans do not know the voice actors from Argentina, for this is that there is a gap in the information. --Toonamimaniacolatino 14:53, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Do not worry. On the other hand, I might get this wrong and in fact are 3 VAs which have doubled to May. What happens is that there are times (and very few indeed) in which people mistake as there are voices that sound almost like some others. There are also cases in which the fans (in Latin America of course) talk about the dubbing of the series and the voice actors in a well known forum for fans in Latin America called Pikaflash, there's a post where he has listed all Pokémon cast of voices and then said that May has been dubbed by 3 AVs (I personally and as a Wikipedia's user, the forums are not reliable sources of information). Look do this: I will review again all the episodes of the sixth season and see if there was a voice over for May, so will be my mistake, we are human beings and as such make mistakes (except the people of Spain for his translations and dubs that they do not errors, are horrendous and very large indeed) --Toonamimaniacolatino 14:51, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Happy birthday for yesterday! OwnageMuch 05:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks :D ZestyCactus 06:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Can you do me a small favour?

The bulbapedia box on the left seems to glitch up on my user page, can you please edit my page and fix it? OwnageMuch 05:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Turns out it was an error in the "User Wish" usertag. I fixed that up, your page should look fine now :) Cheers! ZestyCactus 06:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I noticed the Wish usertag was stuffing up all the ones that came after it, so I put it last. I didn't realise that was the cause for the other thing too. Thanks again :) OwnageMuch 06:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Treecko

is not confirmed for the Arceus expansion yet. Also, I'd like to change those when we also know the new page title too. Wait until the cards are confirmed. MaverickNate 19:30, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Ok man, sorry. I was just relinking redirects. >_> ZestyCactus 19:31, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Same applies for the specific card pages. Pokémon Rescue has not been released yet, so it stays the redirect. However, the illustrator was right. MaverickNate 19:37, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon In Canada

Hey, I'm going out now and won't be back (or, at least, in editing condition) until tomorrow, so you should check this out and add it if you've got the time. Make sure to ref it. Porygon-Z 16:49, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for finding that :D ZestyCactus 17:37, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for revamp

Thanks for making 0 ERROR more attractive. ;) - OwnageMuch 04:47, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

No prob man, thanks for posting it in the first place. :D ZestyCactus 04:48, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I seem to know more than my fair share about glitches, so I might as well add it on here. OwnageMuch 04:51, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

The big oops

Yeah, I will next time... I just kept getting so confused when it didn't link because it was already on the page and fussing around with the code, to no avail of course xD I remember it now though, so I definitely will do that. Sorry again xD; ~ ぎんくも | 05:43, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

56 ERROR

Hey just I minor thing, I was thinking instead of "Unable to display text correctly" it sohould probably be "unable to display correct/required text" since when you think about it they are two different things... what do you think? OwnageMuch 03:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

That does make a bit more sense. I think I'll go change that now :D ZestyCactus 05:28, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

C-c-combo breaker?

User:Zesty_Cactus/Sandbox vs. List of glitch Pokémon by hexadecimal identifier? -- MAGNEDETH 19:54, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

i need that table removed because its going to create red links, but if you want to revive it and adjust it accordingly, just use the history to undo my edit, and edit out the links. -- MAGNEDETH 23:02, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
It's alright, if GameShark-only glitch articles are being eliminated then its not super important. I may compile an "ultimate list" of all the hexes one day, but I'd have to be really, really, really bored. :P ZestyCactus 06:01, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Ult.Seph. kept all the information. id like to keep a list of these glitch Pokemon, but only on one page. a majority didnt really contain enough information for the page they existed on. however, i have kept 8, 94, and PkMn n in-tact due to some of their unique traits. still wondering how i plan to utilize them for now though. -- MAGNEDETH 06:18, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough. Maybe something like the glitch types or the glitch moves pages could work out with the shark-only Pokémon? ZestyCactus 06:23, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
well, lets just say weve got some things to iron out. -- MAGNEDETH 06:40, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
