A message for the community

Greetings, Bulbapedians. I am Trom. This is my talk page. If you post a message here, I will reply here, and supply your talk page with a link here on the first occurrence in a discussion only. If I leave a message on your talk page, I will be watching it and will reply there as required. Please start all new discussions under this green box, please, by clicking on the "plus" tab above.

As for the administrator powers I now hold, I am more than happy to wield them if you so wish. I know what it's like to have stacks of edit requests, so I will be more than happy to help you there. However, I would also like to mention that while someone out there seems to think I am doing a good job, I reserve the right to completely screw up at times.

Thanks, guys. Keep up the good work, and Happy First of April.

THE TROM — 10:57, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Edit request

Nice user page you got there! ;) Since you already have it, why not update your signature? =P Just a suggestion.. Anyway, congratulations Trom! You truly deserve to be an admin. We're counting on you. =] Ҝəυzø8 11:30, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Haha, thanks Kev. And thanks for that edit too. I'll give you the pleasure of having the top contrib for a little while longer :D Somehow I knew you'd be one of the first to start filling my talk page up :D And, no, the signature isn't going to change. I consider this discussion page to be more important in the grand scheme of things than that lousy old userpage. Alas, it was one of the many conditions of my administratorship. BTW, RexRacer was also promoted, so this is my official congratulations to him also. Yet another of our high-quality editor. — THE TROM — 11:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Just don't abuse your powers Trom. You're not Mr. Big Guy in Charge okay ;).--FF(editstalk) 11:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey hey, so you're planning to overtop me? No, no, I wont let that happen. xD lol. Congratulations to RexRacer as well.. One more thing, add this template: {{User Bulbapedia Sysop}}. As far as I know, every admins have that. Ҝəυzø8 11:48, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes..... it's a bad habit I know. and finally Congrats Trom and RR.--FF(editstalk) 11:49, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Yup... ht14 01:49, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Unprotect

Hey Trom, could you please unprotect DP127? Its title has been revealed. And protect DP126 to avoid gunjumping. Thanks in advance, ^^ Ҝəυzø8 13:53, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Done.... took a while to figure it out though :D Nothing like learning on the job. — THE TROM — 20:29, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Unprotect

You beat me because the server exploded again last night, haha.—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 01:39, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Whoa!

You made a (gulps) Userpage ! --Prongs (TalkContributions) 09:29, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

What, really, where? How did that get past me? Time to block the user responsible for that mess.... — THE TROM — 09:38, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Dont try to fool me. I thought you were serious about not having a userpage. I always thought that it was a waste of your wikicode talent. Anyway congrats.Check my talk the new section .--Prongs (TalkContributions) 09:52, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for moving

It was a terrible oversight from my side. Thanks for repairing my terrible screw-up. --Maxim 08:06, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Something Wrong

See I never went through the Manual of Style or User Space Policy but I think that thing about girlfriend (bottom column) is wrong. --Your Friend Prongs (TalkContributions) 09:57, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

She doesn't :D and that whole section is a real-piss take anyway. No offense is intended to anyone. — THE TROM — 09:58, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Response

Thank you for your comment on my talk page. I intend to work off my bad repuatation, I am not going to be online for long, before going into hospital for a series of operations in May, but I hope, in this short time, to change people's perceptions of me.

Congratulations on becoming an administrator, you very much deserve it because of all you hard work. from Super-Max 13:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Zhe Question...

How come this doesn't work? {{DL|{{DL|In-battle effect item|Turn order alteration}}|Quick Claw}} ht14 13:21, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Wow, that's trying too hard. Isn't it because you can't put one code in another code? Just try this: {{DL|In-battle effect item#Quick Claw|Quick Claw}} Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 13:38, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
...awkward purpose then... ht14 13:40, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
{{DL|In-battle effect item|Quick Claw}} works as well. It doesn't matter what level heading you use in the second variable (the "Quick Claw" part). — THE TROM — 20:05, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Category

Why is my page in Pages needing special attention? --Prongs (TalkContributions) 08:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Someone seems to have copied and pasted template code. Here's a hint - never, ever do that because 99% of the time it stuffs things up. — THE TROM — 08:48, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Badges

Not trying to be pushy and annoying as I know I am sometimes, but, some time ago there was a discuussion if the Badges page should get a massive asthetic change or not and you said that you would look into it. Since then there has been no answer. I'm just wondering if you forgot about it... Mr. Charlie 01:03, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah.... I did.... I have been away from my desk for the last few days so give me some time to catch up on anything more pressing, and I'll get onto it. An idea has just come to me.... — THE TROM — 05:20, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
TROM how 'bout my table?--FF(editstalk) 09:49, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I did actually. It's pretty cool, and I like it. Need help implementing it? — THE TROM — 09:55, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
The only problem I have with mine is that it's too wide.--FF(editstalk) 09:57, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Odd... when I resize my browser (to accommodate for a possibly smaller screensize) it auto-resizes. Try it now; I made an edit. — THE TROM — 10:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Still too wide, not like it matters right. I would love the table to be in the Badge article but I wanted to see what you think. Thanks for helping anyway.--FF(editstalk) 10:09, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Well I think that notes portion should either be renamed exceptions or we should add more info sorta " In the Anime only girls are allowed in Erika's Gym." Sorry for interfereing. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 10:15, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
@Prongs: that isn't really related to the badge article, more so the Celadon Gym article. The only thing missing from the table, as based on the current article, is the design basis. Oh! And I just realised a huge problem! All the links along the lines of Badge#Rainbow Badge won't go anywhere.... Hmmm. I have no idea what's up with that width. Try it now? — THE TROM — 10:27, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
That's because there wont be no Badge#Rainbow Badge link, All of them will just link to Badge#Indigo League. And the width is still a problem.--FF(editstalk) 10:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm guessing that could be done by putting an if clause in [[Badge#{{{1}}} Badge|{{{1}}} Badge]]. Cool. I have no idea what's up with that link. When I put a random infobox on the page (to test wrapping skills, in a show preview) that template wrapped right around it! — THE TROM — 10:38, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Fixed it, turns out it just needed "width=<number>px". --FF(editstalk) 10:45, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Awesome. Now that it's narrower, we could probably put in a fifth column for design basis. Just a thought. — THE TROM — 10:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Something's missing: Japanese names. Kevzo8 10:48, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
@ TROM Go for it!
@ Kevz, Can simply be put under the English name.--FF(editstalk) 10:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Go look, boys. Force Fire, does it fit? — THE TROM — 10:58, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Couldn't be any better. Now we need to do the rest, The table in my sandbox will stay incase of any new changes.--FF(editstalk) 11:43, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Alrighty. I'll go from the bottom up then. Hopefully it won't take too long now that you've organised it! — THE TROM — 11:46, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Gym Leaders

Have you forgotten that you protected the page? You're not touching it anymore, so I guess, it's time you unprotect it.. Kevzo8 11:16, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Did not.... >.> <.< It was on my to-do list, yes... — THE TROM — 11:18, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Some of the things you've done are great. But I personally don't like using dark colors, so I've removed those and changed some other things around. I'm very happy with what I've developed now :) — THE TROM — 08:32, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. I've gotten quite used to tables these days. *tc26* 08:43, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, it doesn't look too bad actually. Could expand to GSDS. ht14 02:15, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
I already did. Follow the link above. — THE TROM — 02:17, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Infobox fail

Because I epically fail at my own coding, I have a problem with my location infobox. I tried the {{switch}} for the generation template, except I want Yes to have the {{rock color light}}, but instead it has the {{rock color}}, which I do not get. Can you take the time out of your busy schedule, to help me.

Oh... and congrats for finally creating a user page.--Clarky13 23:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I will look into this. — THE TROM — 00:37, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Got it. Thanks for looking into it for me.--Clarky13 09:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Code

I never saw anything on your page about the code. Sorry if you don't want me using it, I'll get rid of it if you'd rather I did. Oh, and I always seem to forget a signature, =P. --QliksTalk 00:24, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps you missed the capital letters at the top of the page. Pff. Ignorance is no defense. But it's fine. All you "borrowed" was the borders, which are a modification of Kogoro's anyway. It was the other coding I really wanted to preserve. — THE TROM — 00:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, haha. Sorry about that. Thanks for letting me keep it, though. --QliksTalk 02:37, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Trainer Card Template

Would this be done as User:Pandamonia/Template:TrainerCardTemplate? (Providing that TTE is okay with it…) - unsigned comment from Pandamonia (talkcontribs)

You can name it whatever you want as long as TTE doesn't care about his code being jacked. And sign those posts. Grr. — THE TROM — 09:31, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Lapras

Is to be deleted. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 10:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Need some help!

Hi buddy i need your help. I want to change an image named as As A Gligar in the Ash's Gliscor article. I have putted that image on the discussion page of that article for sample. You should check it out and tell me whether it is good or the present one in the article is better. Don't get angry for asking this thing here, actually i have posted the same question on that article's discussion page one day ago but no body replied:-( --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

I saw that, actually, but my laptop ran out of power and it was late so I didn't bother to come back on. I see now, though, that it has already been updated, which is great.... although, Kev, only admins are meant to change images over (not that this one seems to have been a problem). — THE TROM — 21:20, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Thnx alot buddy. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 03:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

DP128! Yay!

In contrast of TTE's belief, someone Pokeani forums posted DP128-129 titles. DP128's protected, so.. what do you think? Kevzo8 11:35, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I think I should learn Japanese o_0 Or at the very least get someone who can translate it for me. I'm not sure which admins can Jap though, so put a request on the article's talk page, and someone will sort it out when they see it. — THE TROM — 11:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
No need, see this article. =] Once a reporter move it to mainspace, it'd be on the Bp's main page. Kevzo8 11:40, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
You realize most of the gaps are left blank on purpose? No fail. Anyway, that took far longer than it should have. If you haven't done DP129, hurry up so I can protect and get to bed before I turn into a pumpkin. — THE TROM — 11:57, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, you can now protect it from moving... and gunjumping. :] Sleep well. Night. Kevzo8 12:02, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Wait, don't sleep yet, you added wrong air date in DP128. It's supposed to be May 21. Kevzo8 12:07, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Someone wrote it wrong on Bulbanews then. — THE TROM — 12:08, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Forgive me, the blurb is correct, so I thought it was also correct. >.> Anyway, thanks for everything. :]Kevzo8 12:11, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Could you tell TTE about the templates I made last week? I can't tell him due to his protection. They're here, starting with the region. *tc26* 02:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I know aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall about them. Believe me. I will get to them. TTEchidna 03:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks!

Thanks much! :D--Mclena45 21:55, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

New Project

So yeah. If I ever got around to actually doing it, I wanted to know a few things about a new project. I might make one either called Project Movies or Moviedex to help with the movie pages and stuff. Which do you think would be better? Movies by itself would be a bit harder because of no subgroups, but it doesn't really fit under Anime, because they deal with things related to the episodes. Which is where Moviedex would go. R.A. Hunter B. 17:09, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

OK, well while Projects are all nice and well, I personally don't see them as essential. But that is unimportant here. If you are serious about creating a Project dedicated to movie articles, I'd recommend you make it as a subproject of Project Anime, as the movies are already an extension of the anime. Alternatively, the movies can be incorporated under Project Anime, and you can work on them under that banner. Even though PA at the moment seems to only deal with the episodes, this can be liable to change. If this is the path you wish to take, I advise you to speak with Kenji-girl, as she is the Anime Leader. If I were in your shoes, this is the path I would take. Best of luck, — THE TROM — 09:07, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks. R.A. Hunter B. 21:05, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Moving Pages

Actually, I did. It is a well known fact that all three control dimensions, which is why they were created. It is for this reason that I made that move. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 20:41, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not saying I disagree with the name, it's just process wasn't completely followed. Such important things should be discussed by the community before changes are made. What you did here was post speculation before I was even an editor here, with one person agreeing and one person getting confused. That's hardly consensus. If you'd like to discuss it on the appropriate talk page, feel free, but moving pages because you think the name is wrong is never the way to go about it. For starters, it causes a lot of unnecessary server strain, something we really could do without. — THE TROM — 21:34, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Oops!!

Sorry about that.....thank u for reminding me.....i tried 2 remove some usertags so just remind me if it still reaches the limit ^_^

Thanks. --Jonas_009 6:53, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

HI

TNX for the help....wait can i ask how can you comment, i click "EDIT THIS PAGE" then write. Is that how you post comment??? question only

Gio12 08:05, 5 May 2009 (UTC)"Gio12" :)29:35 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Yep, absolutely. But if you want to make a new discussion on a talk page, click on the "+" icon instead. Also, sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Then you don't even have to write your name or copy down the time! — THE TROM — 06:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Ask??

Excuse me..In your UserPage, How did you put the blue color???Question only Tnx 4 the Reply.. Gio12 08:20, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Just change the background-color:#ffffff on your userpage to one of these blue hex codes. Replace the ffffff with another six-digit code. Also remember try not to overedit that userpage. A lot of people find that updating it and amending it can be quite addictive.... and then they get banned. This is an encyclopedia, after all. — THE TROM — 10:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Why

Mudkips are awesome. y u no liek? :( Soiherduliekmudkipz 10:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Because water pwns fire. And fire represents life. And life is useful, at times. Useless trivia, though, is not, so please quit with it. Especially since yours is the kind that can offend. Also, constantly reverting is called an edit war and is frowned upon. — THE TROM — 11:12, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
If the Jynx incident is notable, this is too. Soiherduliekmudkipz 11:17, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
The Jynx incident had widespread coverage in mainstream media. This is very limited, only in a few forums, which do not hold as substantive sources. I google searched like you told me to, and it was still 1 to a million that he was anti-semetic. This does not hold, do us a favor and don't put it back. — THE TROM — 11:19, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
So we should remove all of the other trivia then, because I can't find anything reliable via Google Search. Soiherduliekmudkipz 11:28, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Generally, trivia is something that is straight-forward, logical, and often comes from tiny things within the games (or other media) themselves. For example, "Probopass is the only Pokémon besides Smeargle to be able to legally learn both Gravity and Magnet Rise, which have opposing effects." I doubt that'll be on Google, but it's from the reliable source of the games. The Jew thing is incredibly subjective. It's an opinion. The Jynx thing is also an opinion, but I live in New Zealand and I heard about that! That's how far it went! For the same reason, we don't include things like "Although Misdreavus looks feminine, it has an equal chance of being a male or a female. These things look different to different people, and hence we don't include them. — THE TROM — 11:36, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
My main concern is for the protection of the Jewish ethnicity and religion. The designer of Probopass clearly thinks it is funny to demean this ethnoreligious group, and I find that both offensive and unacceptable. By adding the bit of trivia I hope to enlighten the world against these stereotypes. Jynx is very offensive, and even a palette swap can't hide their true intentions. Soiherduliekmudkipz 21:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
If the Jews really are offended by this, they'd have written letters to Nintendo a long time ago. If we are censoring things because one person out of a fanbase of thousands doesn't like it, we may as well get rid of a ChristXmas tree, an angel, someone who is trying to hold up a convenience store, self-harm or suicide bombers. Don't agree with these? Maybe because that's my perception. Face it, everyone sees things differently, and it is not apparent at all that Probopass is a Jew. Would you like to drop this? — THE TROM — 22:16, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Silly trom, that's a Christmas tree, this is an Xmas tree! (Futurama reference). The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 10:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: OK, dude

I left a similar message on Kevzo8's talk page, since you two posted on my talk page at the same time. But I didn't know there was a limit. Now that I know, I'll be more careful about it, and I'll start making mainspace edits. That's why I signed up, so that's what I'll do. Again, thanks for letting me know. Cheers. Willstar 11:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Kev beat me by about two seconds. (Always have to outdo me, don't you Kev!) Nice userpage, though. Have fun here on the 'pedia! — THE TROM — 11:56, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

No, you can edit those as much as you like... provided it isn't useless, and the spelling and grammar are up to scratch. — THE TROM — 21:00, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

May i know???

May i know your Pokémon team ???I have Luxray,Staraptor,Torterra,Floatzel,Crobat and a Pikachu...

Gio12 09:45, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I switch between eighteen different Pokémon ranging from levels 49 through 93. All of yours are there (well, it's a Raichu). BTW, if you want to discuss things like this, use the BMGf forums, located on the toolbar to the left. Talk pages are meant for Bulbapedia-related things only. — THE TROM — 10:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Ask???

Can i change pictures in the bulbapedia??

Gio12 09:42, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

That depends on which pictures. There is a policy which isn't strictly adhered to which says that only admins may change images, but if an image is marked with a {{bad picture}} template feel free to find us a better copy. Also, you don't need a new header for every new message you leave me, and try and refrain from making too many edits in a row to my page. You're filling up my inbox! Use the "Show Preview" button to perfect what you want to say (signature, etc.) before saving. — THE TROM — 10:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Here's the policy. And if you want to reply, click the [edit] then insert your comment. Avoid making another section. Thanks, Kevzo8 10:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry...

Sorry....I`ll keep that in mind, Thanks again.

Sigs

Because I'm kinda an idiot when it comes to Wiki/html coding, how do you change the sigs? I know it's in preferences and all that, it's just how to format it to work. R.A. Hunter B. 22:08, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

There are a range of things we can use to change how signatures look. <font color="#[HEX]"> and <span style="color:#[HEX]"> change the color, <span style="font-family:[FONT NAME]"> changes the font, and other html codes, such as <small>, , and also change the design. Bolds and italics can also be used. There are probably a few things lying around the wiki somewhere in other peoples signatures, so if you see one you like have a look at the coding behind it to see what made it awesome, and adjust for your own uses. Don't forget to check the "raw signatures" box, and if you wish to test, use "Show preview" rather than saving edits. I hope all this makes sense.... — THE TROM — 22:17, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmmmm..... that's what I used last night, but none of it would work... eh, I'll try again anyways. Oh, also how do you add the links, like to different pages? I think that's what was killing the coding. R.A. Hunter B. 22:24, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Just as usual, with double square brackets. If you encounter any hurdles, paste it here and I'll take a squiz. — THE TROM — 22:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks. R.A. Hunter B. 22:30, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Meh... it does it when I put it on a page like this: R.A. Hunter Blade, but it won't work as a siggy... R.A. Hunter B. 22:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

EH How do you put a free box so you can put images there like the one in FF`s Userpage

Gio12 11:20, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Go to his page. Click the edit tab. Copy the coding. Change some variables or parameters so it looks how you want it to. The easiest way to find things out here is to click "edit" and work out what coding does what. That's how I learned, and 99% of people here too. Next step in editing talk pages is adding a colon (:) to every subsequent comment made. I.e., if you reply, you'll put two. See how I did mine? Also, you can leave your signature on the same line as the comment. Keeps things tidy that way. — THE TROM — 11:25, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for interrupting your sleep, How do you revert 3 edits at once? or are admins the only ones that can do that?--ForceFire 12:59, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

You can undo them one by one if you have to. R.A. Hunter Blade 15:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I know that, but to me, it is a pain in the butt to revert them one by one.--ForceFire 02:48, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Admins may "rollback" all edits by one editor until someone else has edited. Other users can do the same, essentially, by going to the non-tainted revision and clicking save page. It's a bit longer, but it does the job. — THE TROM — 08:33, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Life just doesn't go that way

Project custom sprites is a project that makes custom sprites...what do we have to do with making sprites transparent. And besides, I'm the only active member who can make transparency, so there's no point...get it? heh?--Tavisource 22:05, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

There isn't a lot on you guys' to-do list at the moment, and there are heaps of sprites still showing a white background. Sure, I could go and find a noob or two and tell them to download GIMP or Photoshop, but PCS is a trusted group of people who know won't make epic fail. If you don't want to do it, then fine. Re: Userspace edits

Yes, I've read the policy, but I'm not breaking any of the rules there am I? If I am, please tell me which one so I can fix it up. Ghostkaiba297 02:07, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

What's wrong with editing the page so many times? I'm like, updating it... and the most recent edit was to delete the stuff I thought you were complaining about, but I guess there was nothing wrong with that... Anyway, can I atleast update that I finally resolved the debate between Hunter and PsychicRider over the correct category for Team Rocket's immortality? Ghostkaiba297 04:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
A) Trom is no longer online. B) Editing the userspace too much is very bad. C) You've edited it 12 times today, That is enough for three warnings, and possibly some time of being banned from it. when the limit is not to exceed five, that is extremely bad D) You did not win that debate, you completely misread what TTE said. He said not to over analyze it, which meant do not put it on the page, and it has since been removed. MaverickNate 04:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

.... I have a real live, too =D ... so, anyway: Mmmm you can't get an egg from the GTS, can you?? (I'm not 100% possitive, but I've never seen something like that, how could you receive one?) You changed the article I created (I'm not angry, I'm just saying =D) you wrote that "if you receive an egg from the GTS etc..." which is incorrect, besides the method doesn't work like that, it works by having babies from foreign Pokémon, a lot times. Why did you write that? YukitoOoO 21:15, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that'll be my fault. I've never used the GTS, I just tried to clear up what you'd written. I'll revise what I've written based on what you've told me. If it's still a load of lies, hit me with a saucepan or something. — THE TROM — 21:25, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

What parts are correct? — THE TROM — 22:11, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Sprites, moves, abilities, names, levels, links... basically everything but the Pokémons' types... and if you look at the coding, it's somehow screwed up really badly. Whoever made the original template made it so that only the first one on May's page for the 4th battle would be right and that it can't be copied... R.A. Hunter Blade 22:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
You have the wrong Pokémon for the teams.... You also had the wrong variables, but I've fixed that now. — THE TROM — 22:47, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Really? It's for the second to last battle with her, when only her starter has evolved. Unless Wingull did evovle already, but I didn't think so. And for the variables, that was something that I put in to see if it would do anything, but it didn't at the time, so I left it. And the numbers that were switched around weren't me. I copied it. But thanks. Now to add it and hopefully get the rest of them fixed or done in the next week or so... R.A. Hunter Blade 00:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Go and fix it then. If you don't know how then don't worry about it and let someone else find it. — THE TROM — 00:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
That's the whole reason why I said I'll "get the rest of them fixed or done". I'm doing it... just wait. It might be a week or two, but it'll get done. R.A. Hunter Blade 02:33, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Someone editing the userspace too much

I warned a user named TPof~ about editing the userspace too much, applied three warning templates. If this user continues, can you please take care of it? Thanks! --rockersk08 00:37, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry

I'm sorry about all the userspace edits. hehe. though I read on another page that you were allowed 4 per day, is this true? the main problem is that its hard to manage editing a page broken up into sections, is there a way to, say, edit the whole page at once? sorry if I sound like a total n00b. --Wynaut? 03:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

At the top of the page, there's a tab that reads "edit this page". Click on that and you can edit the whole page at once. ~ solaris 03:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
You're bordering, not crossing, the line of where you'd get blocked. And it's just a warning to make sure that doesn't happen. R.A. Hunter Blade 03:31, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
The limit used to be capped at four a day, however now we expect you to balance the userspace edits with the mainspace edits. Because the userspace is big and fat and needs to go on a date with Bob and Jillian, we'd prefer you to edit the mainspace more to tip those scales into a positive direction. We are an encyclopedia after all. It's the articles we all want to be editing. Blocking people from editing their userpages is a last resort for those serious userspace addicts, and yes it was just a warning. Hopefully we won't need to do that to you...
Also thanks to Sol and Hunter here... more so for the content rather than the edit conflicts. — THE TROM — 03:37, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! --Wynaut? 16:55, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Edit waring

The user HoennMaster kept removing some trivia from the DP105 article about 3 times saying that facial and vocal expressions of distress do not mean anything involving the triva.

When the trivia was added back with better wording to relieve confussion, the user Sol removed it trying to justify his actions with Stats which are a in game mechanism and have hardly any use in the anime aside from levels being mentioned here and there.

This whole thing keeps going in circles and its going end up with an admin getting mad, banning and locking the thread if this half-brained removal of some trivia keeps up. Yami 18:30, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

first off Yami, your trivia was stupid, Sol's removal of it was justified. second, it is 6:30am for Trom right now, you think hes online? -- MAGNEDETH 18:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Rather stupid or not, his means for removing it are not justified and how am i suppose to know its 6am for anyone. Its not like I expect them to answer right away. Yami 18:34, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Your trivia was indeed stupid, and if you want to know what time it is for someone, find out where he/she lives (Trom lives in New Zealand) and find out what timezone that place is in. And right now, you're better off taking this to TTE, his timezone is CDT (North American Central Time in Daylight Savings time), where it's in the middle of the afternoon. --AT 18:42, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Even if it was stupid, that is no justification for removing it. in fact Sol's stats excuse is even more stupid then HoennMaster's excuse for removing it because Dawn wasn't on the ground with Grotle or something. Yami 18:46, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

I love how Yami chose to come to the admin who spent his first week or so here deleting trivia from articles. Next time, check the RC to find someone who's been editing recently. Chances are they'll still be online.
I concur with Sol and MAGNEDETH. Stats have nothing to do with this. If Ash carried Grotle that would be notable, but Ash getting squished by Piloswine, and Dawn not getting squished means nothing. Maybe Ash is really just a big woosy boy. The main thing here is Dawn carrying Piloswine. It's a pure example of anime physics, just as how Ash was able to carry Larvitar back in Johto.... I think I've covered everything.
Finally, I'd really appreciate it if you learned to use the correct terminology here. No big deal, but we aren't a forum. We are an encyclopedia, and hence have articles and discussion/talk pages instead of threads, and blocks not bans. Cheers. — THE TROM — 00:31, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Not to revive anything, but Sol was the one who said that stats had something to do with why piloswine hurt worse. He stated Piloswine's higher attack stat might have hurt them more despite its weight. I informed Sol that Stats hardly exist in the anime, which he then tried to backtrack by saying that if game stats have no bearing in the anime then weights should be different.

However, he didn't have that view when MAGNEDETH used Game weight in the edit of the Dawn supporting Piloswine. So a lot of my complaint was the double standard, contradictions.

As for the terms, I'm use to using the term thread for almost anything with mods and admins because they all act the same. Ban is from wikipedia where they use both ban/block as a term depending on the person.

I didn't come here to say all that, I mostly came to say thanks for removing the from the trivia i added to Farfetch'd. I forgot to remove it because i was originally going put "Others include the bone cubone...."

So yeah, thx Yami 22:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Trom...

Hi Trom, I am new here and was wondering if there is anything that I could help out with or if you could point me in the right direction that would be great, thanks! Also my account keeps logging out on its own, or only is logged in every other page, so I keep getting an error (the you do not have permission to edit this page). Is there a way to fix that? -MasterKenobi 22:30 (UTC)

Sure, I'm more than happy to help a young Jedi in distress :D On our Main Page there is a section called "Ongoing work". This gives you several links to pages and lists of articles that need work. We have a number of wanted pages (pages that are linked to, but have no article), articles that don't meet our quality standards, and short articles that need to be filled out. It all depends on where your interests lie.
As for the logout error, I'm afraid I can't do anything about that. It's a temporary server glitch we're experiencing as we carry out some maintenance. Unfortunately, it's lasted a bit longer than we expected, but hopefully it will clear up fairly soon. — THE TROM — 22:38, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the sig pointer Trom, have a great day. -MasterKenobi 22:48, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Trom, sorry to ruin your fun but I just have a quick question: How do we make the Pokédex template so it doesn't link to a non-existent page? (ex. If you go to Snorlax and scroll down to in the anime, you will see Pokédex entry. It says Snorlax's Diet. Could we make it so it doesn't link to another page such as the one above it just says Snorlax's Weight and doesn't link to a page) Thanks! -MasterKenobi 00:00, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

That's due to the special coding within that template. Maybe you can figure out what I've done :D. Thanks for finding it, though. If there are any more, leave a note on an admin's talk page; the template is protected from potential vandalism. — THE TROM — 00:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, that worked it just needed to be re-saved. Thanks Trom! (and have fun with that lazy coding.;) ) -MasterKenobi 00:09, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Topic of extreme importance

Yes, Sketch does fail when used by Mew in Platinum, and I imagine it fails when used by Ditto as well. Both of these Pokemon may use it by transforming into a Smeargle with this move. Thank you, come again. CubeShapedWatermelon 02:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

No. It's Transform that makes Sketch fail, not Mew/Ditto. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 02:48, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

East Sea Shellos in the Anime

Hi Trom, who would I refer this request to: We only have a picture of the West Sea Shellos in the Anime but also need an East Sea Shellos (seen in the Rise of Darkrai) could someone get that? Thanks. -MasterKenobi 23:20, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

We have no images of this in our Archives, so someone needs to watch The Rise of Darkrai, and take a screenshot (in .png) of that scene. It's probably on youtube somewhere. — THE TROM — 00:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Episodes

You know how in the Pokédex entries we have been putting the episodes such as DP056 in the episode catagory? Should I start putting the episode titles or do we just want to keep it as the episode number?? -MasterKenobi 23:20, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Ask Maverick Nate. He seems to be in charge of the AnimeDex project. — THE TROM — 00:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks to both Trom! -MasterKenobi 02:40, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Links?

Hey Trom, I was wondering how you link Pokémon Trainer correctly as I found it linked Pokémon Trainer. Also, do we want to link characters this way: Ash Ketchum or a different way. On top of that, do we link locations like Mt. Moon or some other way? Additionally, on bulbanews they refered to a fourth picture in the news update but didn't include it. Here it is from CoroCoro: arceus-in-hg-ss.gif Thanks -MasterKenobi 22:08, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Can't do anything with that until it's on the Bulbagarden Archives. I'm not sure what the case is here, seeing as its a scan and not a screenshot per se, but Pokebeach doesn't like us taking their images, so it may be best to get it from a different source. Perhaps one of our contributors reads CoroCoro and could post the image.
Usually, to link somewhere but display something different we use a pipe: |. See this example? We can use link templates, however, which make linking (in certain situations) a lot easier. The list is here. Hope I've helped! — THE TROM — 22:15, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, that was the link I was looking for, thanks. Also, you can tell the images in the news update are from pokebeach as they look identical. -MasterKenobi 22:19, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

HGSS Request

Hey Trom, wanna fix the image on the page? The PokéWalker...thingy is way outta focus and hard to see...could you fix it please? --PsychicRider 22:17, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, agreed, there is a better image on the news update for the pokewalker. -MasterKenobi 22:19, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that image is rather crap, isn't it? But on the archives it is fine and not squished up at all. I'm not sure what's up, but it wouldn't be the first time that we've had different images displaying on the two sites. Just leave it for now, at least until that echidna fellow turns up. It isn't hurting anyone or anything by sitting there and being ugly :P — THE TROM — 22:28, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah it kinda is hurting my eyes...that's why I brought this up. On the page, I mean just resize the image to make it a little less ugly and out of focus...that's all. If you can make such excellent coding, I'm sure you can resize an image. --PsychicRider 22:48, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Aw, shucks. But it isn't possible to resize in a gallery. But the image will be distorted because the old revision is cached in your browser; going here should hopefully do something about it. — THE TROM — 22:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
See? Trom can do anything. That's just what the doctor ordered for my computer...now it's better and not crapish and out of focus...Thanks. --PsychicRider 22:55, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

templates

hy you. are you good at wiki syntax for templates? on pokewiki i have build a similar template to your Type effectiveness... but i can only use 5 or less of this on one page.. could you look to optimate it? --Hanmac 09:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I fail to understand what you are asking. I managed to put fourteen onto one page just now when I tried. Perhaps you should ask someone on PokéWiki. You may be able to get your question across better in your native tongue. — THE TROM — 09:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
i have made this template. but if i use more then 5 i get php errors (or HTML error 500) possible it is because the template does calculate the ratios .. the question is if you can make the code better without losing this feature. --Hanmac
No problem for me. I'm sorry I can't help further. — THE TROM — 10:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

How do I post a image?

Hi and sorry for bugging you but how do I post a image with words on a page with a transparent background.? I wanted to put a still sprite of Dahlia on her profile page here's the sprite.

dahliasprite.jpg

But I have no idea how to do this because on the arcade star page it appears as a link only and a mod says it needs a transparent background, can you help me? Crystal Power 16:04, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. Before you get started, that sprite isn't needed. As Kogoro pointed out, we've already got her sprite - and our one even moves! For future reference, you can make images transparent yourself by using a program like GIMP or Photoshop. MSPaint won't help here, I'm afraid. Then upload to the Archives rather than hotlinking to an external site. But please, if you do it to this sprite, don't put it in the article. It pales in comparison to the official sprite, which we already have. — THE TROM — 20:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay Thanks for the info, don't worry I won't post the sprite ^^;; Anyway at the archives "upload" does not work, it keeps logging me out, for some reason and when I try to log back in it say's (Login error,There is no user by the name "crystal power". Check your spelling.)??? Crystal Power 16:25, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

This tells me you hadn't visited the Archives before a couple of weeks ago. Account creation was disabled so we could fix a few problems (yeah, that giant-sized one D:), which has prevented your account from being merged over. Sorry about that. It'll all be back up fairly shortly, we hope, and you can do any uploading you wish then. — THE TROM — 01:26, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay just inform me when it's fix, I'll be patient until then and Thank You Crystal Power 04:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

External Links on Pokémon Pages

Hey Trom, I was wondering if I could link to Serebii's Pokémon of the week(http://www.serebii.net/potw-dp/219.shtml) under external links on the Pokémon page. Do we want to keep those external link just Pokédex entries? Also, the reason I think we should do the Pokémon of the week is because utilizes a Pokémon's move set to get its full potential. (ex. Magcargo with the moves Lava Plume, Stealth Rock, Recover, Toxic, with the item leftovers attached, the ability Flame Body, EV's: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SAtk, and a bold nature(+Def, -Atk)). Just an idea to link to it. Thanks! -MasterKenobi 23:48, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Nope. We are an encyclopedia, so while we have all the information, we don't tell people how to use that information. If people want to find out an optimal moveset, we expect them to do it themselves or go somewhere else and do it. The external link sections are there because we used to link to the Wikipedia articles until they were merged together. We aren't gonna put Serebii there, though. — THE TROM — 23:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks. That's what I needed to know. -MasterKenobi 23:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Newbies Deleting Info on pages

Hello again Trom, some newbies are going around deleting stuff that doesn't need to be deleted, like they deleted the origin of Heracross (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Heracross_(Pok%C3%A9mon)&diff=785659&oldid=780024) -MasterKenobi 21:49, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

That Heracross trivia is fail anyway. It's named for the beetle, not the mythic dude. With that in mind, the reverting user should have given a summary of his or her reasoning. — THE TROM — 22:01, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Riley

Are you sure his voice is not Ken Gates? I don't see his name in the credits, and he does sound like Kendall, for example. Mamoswine Gliscor 23:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Riley's page says otherwise. I have no idea if it's true; I don't even know if we get the anime here. I'm just going with the information we already had. — THE TROM — 00:03, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe Kendall is voiced by Marc Diraison. Cause Riley and Tyson sound alike. I don't remember what Kendall sounded like. I'll check it out. --ケンジガール 00:06, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Okay, Kendall sounds nothing like Riley. And the reason you don't see Marc Diraison's name in the credits is because they only list the lead roles now. --ケンジガール 00:11, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Generation IV

Hey Trom, Gen IV was added to some of the Kanto routes. Do we want to do anything about this? Hope your head is better by the way. -MasterKenobi 21:59, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Well it's official now, so go for your life. My head's fine now; my exam got canceled :D — THE TROM — 22:28, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
It is? It must be on that new site... So does that mean were a go for all kanto, gym leaders included? (well except for that one gym where the leaders kid takes over...) -MasterKenobi 22:33, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
As far as I am aware, people aren't included, just the landmass that is Kanto (and by extension its routes and locations). It's highly likely and expected that everything remains the same though. — THE TROM — 22:39, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Uploaded image

Listen man, is that even allowed, coping and deleting someone else's picture and then uploading the copy and crediting yourself for uploading something that isn't yours? The reason why you couldn't find my image is because MaverickNate deleted it. He can do that, since he is an admin. I'm not trying to be a jerk here but honestly, this isn't fair... Hmdwgf 13:26 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm also an admin. Hence the blocking part. And the "going back through deleted revisions" part. And I did ask you to wait out that block, but I guess you weren't listening. *SIGH* This was the deletion log.
02:30, 21 February 2009 Maverick Nate (Talk | contribs | block) deleted "File:-RyRo- Pokemon Movie 1 Mewtwo Strikes Back (DVD XviD) -63A4FFD4-.png" ‎ (Misnamed) (restore)
Nate got rid of your image because you named it stupidly. He fixed it. You had a total spazz, and reuploaded. I deleted because we keep the first image, not the second, regardless of who uploaded it. Then you spazzed some more, and now you're cooling down. Apparently. Put a toe out of line here, too, and you know what's gonna happen. — THE TROM — 22:36, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
OK. In fact, I didn't even name it. I just left it as it was. What are the odds for someone to name a file like that? I would have re-uploaded the file to have a better name, he did talk to me about doing that in the future, but he never actually asked me to rename and re-upload that file. And I didn't do it anyway because I didn't care enough about the name of the file. Hmdwgf 13:49 19 June 2009
You name it when you upload it. Are you telling me that this file is not yours? — THE TROM — 22:52, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
*sighs* If that file was not mine, this whole debacle wouldn't have started in the first place. I took the image from a website, which I will not reveal to you or anyone else. And I had to do some photoshop work on it, and then I put it on the site, because the current Mewtwo using Shadow Ball pic was atrocious. Hmdwgf 13:58 19 June 2009 (UTC)
You realise we could potentially get in a lot of trouble if you steal someone else's image? A lot of people around here are very selfish, and think they actually own it. It's a stupid way to be, but some people... *mumbles and grumbles* — THE TROM — 23:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I know about that. Copyright issues, etc. And trust me, I'm not one of those "selfish" people. That Mewtwo Shadow Ball pic was a DVD screencapture from the Japanese version that had English subtitles at the bottom and I had to get rid of them using Photoshop. All the other pics I've uploaded all come from DVDs that I have purchased myself. - unsigned comment from Hmdwgf (talkcontribs)
Cool. Sure. Stop moaning then. — THE TROM — 23:16, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

About Misty's trivia section...

You know, I still don't think that Masamitsu Hidaka's mention of Misty's fate (you know, not making a permanent return) should even be mentioned in the article, much less the Trivia Section. My Being a Misty fan has nothing to do with it. I mean, it's because it's a future event, that's not even set in stone. I mean, we don't even mention Hidaka's statement about Ash permanently remaining in the Anime for as long as the games sell, or for many generations to come in Ash's Trivia Section, and we don't list Ash's released pokemon making reappearances in the future in Ash's Butterfree's Trivia section or it's article, Ash's Pidgeot's Trivia Section or it's Article, Ash's Lapras's Trivia Section or it's article, Ash's Larvitar's Trivia Section it's Article, or Ash's Primeape's Trivia Section or it's Article, so why even bother listing the Misty won't return to the Anime just because Masamitsu Hidaka said so? Masamitsu Hidaka's article should only be referenced if the thing in question directly deals with a relatively important event from the Past (like the explaination for Brock's removal/Tracey's conception, the GS ball, or the reason why Misty even left in the first place). Weedle Mchairybug 00:44, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

*shudders at bad grammar in places*
Ash is sticking around forever? Damn, I wanted a Dawn-and-May spinoff. But if that's the case, then let's put that here. More information is good information. The reason we don't put anything like this in Larvitar's article is because nothing official has been stated on that front. Although, if I'm wrong and something was said, let's get it in the article! — THE TROM — 00:50, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
I think it was in the second part of the interview. WPM asked Hidaka whether Ash's old pokemon were to appear again (I think he was referring to the released Pokemon when he said that), and Hidaka said they are going to reappear. Weedle Mchairybug 00:53, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
They have reppeared though, haven't they? In the openings and stuff.... — THE TROM — 00:55, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
I think WPM's question was in regards to actually reappearing in the show (meaning, not the openings or flashbacks). Weedle Mchairybug 01:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe Hidaka misinterpreted? Or was deliberately vague. In any case, they've been seen onscreen. — THE TROM — 01:03, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Seriously Weedle, be realistic here. You being a Misty fan has everything to do with it. You have absolutely no problem with what Hidaka said about Tracey and Brock being valid or not. So what if it was a "past event". There hasn't been any proof that it was the case. I bet if he said May was never coming back you wouldn't say anything. It's pretty obvious what's going on here... You want Misty back and someone direct from the show says she not and you don't want to believe it. That's the whole story, plain and simple. If that Misty trivia gets removed and everything that Hidaka said should be removed. We mention that only he said it, not that it's coming true. What's wrong with mentioning something that someone who works on the anime said? Truthfully I think Hidaka meant that Misty wasn't returning to the main cast, not ever appearing as a guest. --ケンジガール 04:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I'd LET it be in, IF you had listed absolutely everything else in that interview in the articles trivia sections (For example, Ash permanently staying on the Show, the Fifth Generation coming, Ash's released Pokemon appearing on the show, the whole eyecandy issue (Which, if I remember, YOU didn't even allow into the May, Dawn, or even the Misty articles), then liked it or not, I would have been fine with it. Now, if absolutely everything in that interview was listed in the articles appropriate to it, and yet I STILL tried to remove that, Then I would be doing what you said I was doing. I mean, if anyone needs to be realistic, it's you.
You need to realize that mentioning that isn't important if mentioning the whole Ash's Father appearing when they need for him to grow up, Ash's Released Pokemon returning sooner or later, Ash being the Show, the Gen V "confirmations", the Eyecandy reasons, or any of that aren't important to list either. For the record, I DO want Ash's Pokemon to return, but if they can't be mentioned in the Trivia sections of any of Ash's Pokemon articles, then this cannot be mentioned either. It's that simple. I mean, you didn't really care that those trivia parts weren't mentioned in the other things directly related to it (and in the case of the "eyecandy" issue, you even directly intervened and tried to remove it. I mean, sure you listed it in the Masamitsu Hidaka article, but it was directly related to Misty's removal, as well as both May's conception and Removal, and even Dawn's conception, so those worked in the Trivia Section. Heck, you even did the exact same thing with Hidaka's "lack of knowledge" of Platinum, even though WPM directly tried to tell everyone that Hidaka legitimately did not know.), yet you care about me removing that for the same reasons that you didn't even bother listing the other parts from the article, or even going as far as to directly intervene and remove it (stuff even MORE important, at that)? Whose being the biased one? Maybe I am, but your reactions seem biased as well. As far as I'm concerned, we're BOTH being biased. Weedle Mchairybug 12:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
