Welcome to Bulbapedia, Robbie!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Persian Origins

Hello. Please don't change Persian's origins to say "big cats". Big cats are considered an actual group of cats defined by specific physical characteristics. The puma or cougar is not currently included in this group. Thanks. Crystal Talian 03:05, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Well Persian physically has more in common with big cats than small cats and pumas are sometimes classified as big cats.Robbie (talk) 12:54, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

This is true, but Persian primarily shares traits with cougars more than the other large cats. Big cats is a little misleading as it typically only refers to cats in the Panthera group. Wild cats encompasses all of them, so its a bit more fair. Crystal Talian 05:20, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Talk pages

Just because no one has responded to your comment, does give you the right to just add what you asked onto the page, wait for a response. If you're impatient, you can ask a user directly. Thank you.--ForceFire 02:53, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

Zapdos edits

Making the same edits to a page that have already been reverted is called edit warring, and is a blockable offence on Bulbapedia. Before you re-add an edit that was reverted, you should discuss the difference of opinion on either the talk page in question or the talk page of the user that reverted your edits. As you have already brought this up and been told it is not enough of a connection, please do not re-add this origin point. ChE clarinetist (talk) 19:11, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

What I've said is enough. If you look at what I've said in the discussion page, you'll see.19:32, 11 April 2016 (UTC) - unsigned comment from Robbie (talkcontribs)
When two different Bulbapedia staff members have reverted your edit in the past citing that you are focusing only on the beak, then you have not provided enough other evidence to support your point. You also brought it up on the talk age and were never given agreement with what you posted, so you should not be posting this information unless given the go-ahead on the talk page. Also, please make sure your signature for talk pages includes your user name, and a link to either your user page or user talk page, as per the signature policy. ChE clarinetist (talk) 19:56, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Did you even look at what I wrote in the discussion page, I pointed out the mask-like face and scary eyes.Robbie (talk) 20:04, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
You focused on the beak (which is also matching the lightning bird that is referenced in the article) and eyes (which are such a small part of the Pokémon its an insignificant portion). If no one has responded to the talk page, it does not mean that you can go ahead and repost something that was reverted. ChE clarinetist (talk) 20:10, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
I also said it's face, including it's beak, looks like a tengu mask. I even posted a link to an image of one.Robbie (talk) 20:31, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
I happen to disagree with that. So do ForceFire and Carmenstar. You haven't convinced any of us that it is based on the Tengu and not the lightning bird already referenced. ChE clarinetist (talk) 20:34, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Why don't any of you agree?Robbie (talk) 20:42, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
You are focused entirely on the beak, and sometimes mention the eyes. I could just as well say that Zapdos has a long thin beak like a hummingbird, and both are birds, so it must be based on a hummingbird. That is the kind of proof you are offering. Also, Shiftry is more humanoid, while retaining some bird-like characteristics with its fan-like hands resembling wings. Zapdos is entirely a bird, which does relate to a humanoid mask in any way. ChE clarinetist (talk) 20:51, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Zapdos' face looks like a mask. Here's a side view of it's beak. It looks like very long nose.

pokemans_145.gif

It doesn't have to be based entirely on a creature, it can just have characteristics of it, just like Pidgeot has characteristics of the egyptian gods Ra and Horus and Golduck of the kappa.Robbie (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

(resetting indent) Once again, you are focused ENTIRELY on the beak. As both ForceFire and Carmenstar said, that is only one single similarity, and it is not enough of a comparison to be listed as an origin. With the responses and edit reversion, it is still 3-1 on this, against your view. It is not something that looks like it will be added, especially when you remain fixated almost exclusively on the beak/nose comparison that you were told is not enough to justify adding your point. ChE clarinetist (talk) 21:22, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Just going to pop in and say that I had no part in this discussion/reversion (that was Crystal Talian). But anyways, two staff members have already expressed their disagreement with your argument that Zapdos's design is based on the tengu, and explained their reasons. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 21:41, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Whoops, that's what I get for not double-checking the history page before sending the comments. Thanks for swinging by though Carmenstar. ChE clarinetist (talk) 21:48, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
I'm also focusing on the FACE! The feathers sticking out from the sides of it's head make it's face looks like a mask. How many times do I have to keep saying that? - unsigned comment from Robbie (talkcontribs)
"Menacing eyes" applies to a lot of things, not just Tengu. Also, that's just an opinion that the beak looks like a nose from that angle. Fearow's beak would also look like a nose from that angle. And its face is most likely just stylized to look electrified (because electric type) rather than a mask.--ForceFire 05:29, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
The opening of Zapdos' mouth under it's upper beak ends where it's lower beak ends, making it's upper beak look more like a nose than a real beak. Nuzleaf's and Shiftry's noses are shaped like Zapdos' beak and Shifty's leaf hands are modeled after the tongue's fan. Here's a link to an image of a tengu with the fan, a mask, and wings. http://solaroid.deviantart.com/art/Tengu-429889079Robbie (talk) 15:04, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Discussions

If you want to make a topics, please create a new section, do not continue an older discussion just because it's the same topic as yours - especially if said discussion if over 6 months old. Thank you.--ForceFire 02:21, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

Popplio

Do not just add back reverted information, don't think I'm not paying attention. If you disagree with something, discuss it, don't just add it back. And I've already told you why it wasn't needed, the "performing" part is already implied by the "clown motif" explanation.--ForceFire 05:26, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Talk page comments

Please don't remove talk page comments, especially if you're going to replace it with what is essentially the same thing, it's nonconstructive. If you want a quicker response, you can go ask someone directly. Otherwise, leave it.--ForceFire 16:33, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

"Its" vs. "It's"

Allow me to direct you to an article on the matter, because I've noticed this problem with your recent edit to the Luxray article. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 20:09, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

Origins

Please don't use definite wording (X is based on...) unless you have an official source to back your claim. Otherwise, use terms like "may be" or anything similar, regardless of how obvious the origin is. Thank you.--ForceFire 04:33, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Eeveelutions

Please don't re-instate a removed edit, discuss it with the user that removed the information if you disagree with them. You know this already. That whole paragraph talked more about Eevee than it did the individual eeveelutions. No where in the sourced article said that they were made directly off of Eevee, just that they were made after Eevee.--ForceFire 14:26, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:30, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
