By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Gender Differences

In the anime, gender differences don't always confirm a Pokemon's gender, dialogue would help confirm it for Bulbapedia--BigDocFan (talk) 08:34, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

That's ridiculous. In the anime, no one confirmed that Cynthia has a female Garchomp too, but by the differences in gender, we know that this is a woman. So why is the case of Gyarados different?--Modesty Elyon 23:32, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
Please refer to the Speculation policy regarding genders. Garchomp was introduced in Gen IV, so we can use its gender difference to confirm its gender, whereas Gyarados was introduce prior to Gen IV, so we can't use its gender difference to confirm its gender. In order for its gender difference to be used as confirmation, the female variant must be shown in the anime (and even then, all Gyarados that appeared before the female variant is shown must appear again afterwards). The anime has messed up in the past with Tierno's Raichu, so the anime not acknowledging Gyarados's gender difference is not out of the question.--ForceFire 03:00, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
