The only ones we really ''should'' use are {{template|p}}, {{template|m}}, {{template|a}}, and {{template|t}} (although we often use {{template|type2}} instead), as that way, people are more likely to remember the parentheticals. {{template|g}} and {{template|pkmn}} allow us to avoid hunting down the e-acute for Pokémon in some cases. Other than those, they're mostly for convenience. I'm not immune from this laziness myself; I designed {{template|badge}} because of all the badge links that work like that. But templates like {{template|DL}} and especially {{template|OBP}} bother me. At that point, it's almost as easy to write out the link as it is to use the template.
