Signatures

Haha, don't worry about it! ^^ next time you forget though, could you put {{unsigned|Mackinz}} instead of signing it late? You're not supposed to sign late because the timestamp doesn't match when you actually wrote the comment. Thanks! --ZestyCactus 23:50, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry Zesty. My bad. still only half-used to wikis. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 00:17, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Haha don't worry about it, seriously! :) we all slip up on the signature thing, haha. --ZestyCactus 00:48, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Code of conduct

Hi Mackinz. Please do not resort to insulting other users to win your arguments. Telling AndyPKMN to retake English class, and to go learn English is offensive. I suggest you read over the code of conduct; if you continue to behave in this manner you will face a block. Play nice :D —darklordtrom 06:26, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the double edit; just leaving myself and others a link for future reference: [1]. —darklordtrom 06:29, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I'll try to word it nicer for next time. How about "Go get a dictionary"?

Regarding New York

There actually is evidence that New York was the basis for Isshu. This is a blog, yes, but this link explains everything. ht14 01:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I myself have not read that part of the interview, however, if you'll notice, in the discussion on Talk:Isshu, Sawamular101 provides that exact link and states, paraphrasing, "there is more evidence leaning towards the motif side than the basis side."
I shall now read this part myself. *pre-reading*
  • post-reading* Wait. I've read the entire interview. The only references to New York I can find are the ones Sawamular, whatshisname and I discussed on Talk:Isshu. The ones that confirm how Masuda loves New York and wishes he could have a musical there. In that same section, he also states, yet again, "New York is Isshu's motif".
He does not state anything else relevant to the matter of the debate.
Also, you seem to be mistaking the blogs I take my information from. http://www.gamefreak.co.jp/blog/dir/?p=286 <-- The one where it states "New York is Isshu's motif" is right there. It uses the katakana モチフ which is the Japanese way of pronouncing Motif.
Now good day to you. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 02:34, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Please...

You've been making too many edits to the User talk: namespace lately. Please take your conversations to the forums, a chatroom, e-mail, an IM service, or something similar, as that many edits will slow down the server. --梅子 02:49, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I cannot take it to the forums. It is not allowed to be discussed there. I tried that earlier this morning and Ryuu locked the thread I made regarding the matter. Because he said I was wrong. And frankly, until official sources reveal something more than "motif", I am not wrong for wanting the page to accurate. Even if it goes against the will of the majority. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 03:03, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Userpage problem

It seems that you have blatantly stolen a userpage design from Darkeiya, which she modified from my design with permission. So, when did you ask permission from either of us to use it? If you had taken the time to read the userspace policy, you would see that what you have done with your userpage violates the rules. So, you have 24 hours from the posting of this message to remove the offending code, or I will remove it for you. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:00, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I apologize, Kogoro. I shall edit it out for now but I only used it because it looked awesome.
Even though I did not ask for permission then, may I ask now?
--Mackinz of SoulSilver 03:04, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
No, it's too late for that. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:06, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
D'awww.
Alright then.
I'm sorry for using it without permission. :<

Umm... The Infobox was based on my coding too... - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:34, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I had to stop half-way through. My brother was yelling at me to restart the comp. I'm still working on it. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 03:35, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
How about now? --Mackinz of SoulSilver 03:38, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Reinforcement of motif theory.

vlgame026784.jpg

It is too different from the geographical features of the reality. The origin of the image is BW001. Sawamular101 08:35, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

That is interesting, Sawam. It's too bad that the mods will nt listen to us, however. But we can easily prove them wrong once we get further concrete proof. Just keep looking out for a blog update from Juinchi Masuda and Black and White updates on Nintendo.co.jp. Those are the only references moderators will actually listen to and have the highest chance of updating with our proof that is needed. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 13:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for replying. I will bring it if there is new information. Sawamular101 14:22, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I always reply. It's rude not to. Also, could you translate the last Game Freak blog (#178)? --Mackinz of SoulSilver 19:14, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Masuda has expressed gratitude for the number of sales of BW. Sawamular101 01:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Let me just remind y'all that I don't think we say anything on any page about whether or not the Isshu region's placement or surroundings reflect those of real world NYC. I admit that this is pretty damning of the idea that the placement of regions reflects the real world (at least as far as the anime is concerned), but it says little regarding Isshu's basis in terms of features and landmarks. --AndyPKMN 14:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for advice. Sawamular101 17:17, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Japanese lesson time.

イッシュ地方 とした 今回 の 舞台 の モチーフ は ニューヨーク。

イッシュ地方 = The Isshu Region

とした = とする = to be used for

今回 = This time

舞台 = Stage/Setting/Location

モチーフ = 基調 = basis/origin/motif

ニューヨーク = New York

Putting it all together: This time, New York was used as the basis for our setting in Isshu.

If you studied Japanese, you'd know the Japanese language is full of context-dependent loan words; "Motif," in this case.

Since he is talking about their design and concept, it's implied to say 基調, which, while translatable as (and interchangeable with) モチーフ/motif, it means "basis" or "origin". (http://ejje.weblio.jp/content/motif Definition 1C in the context of design [1A applies to literature and fine arts, 1B applies to music])

I'm sorry if this bursts any bubble you may have had, but translating something on Google versus actually knowing Japanese are two completely different things. I hope I helped shed some light on this debate. Mefredbob 18:41, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

First, I can speak and read Japanese, minus alot of really complex Kanji.
Second, I've talked with fluent Japanese speakers on the matter, before the English blog updates, and they agreed with me that there was a strong possibility that he meant Motif and not Basis.
Third, barring a few cases, loan words are used to describe objects or concepts that do not exist in the Japanese language originally.
Fourth, GTFO of my talk page because you obviously think I cannot speak/read Japanese and you came here to insult me, you goddamn prick >->
