BEFORE YOU COMMENT!!
There's been rumblings of too much non-pedia discussion around here, so, in best interest of that, if you want to tell me something personal, or just plain off-topic, send me a PM OR visit the new Bulbapedia Discussion Forum, instead of commenting here.

BTW...tired of waiting for a new Pokémon game just to tackle some new gyms? Then bring it on.

I'm watching you...

Templates

Why are so many protected from autoconfirmed users? It's not like we get that many "Impossible Sharked Bulbasaurs" anymore, so why the barrier? --Bulbapedian - Talk 02:20, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

if a vandal attacks a template, thats X pages now affected. but moreover, if youre referring to the templates i just protected, well, they dont need to be touched, so, why SHOULDNT they be protected? -- MAGNEDETH 02:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
No, no. Don't need to edit those ones. I meant templates in general. It seems as if many are. Just thought a little freedom and mobility could be benefited from. --Bulbapedian - Talk 02:24, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
well, most templates just dont need to be touched. and as i said, vandal targets. -- MAGNEDETH 02:25, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Speaking of editing templates, could you take a look at User:Sol/Sandbox and tell me if having the "Physical" color changed is good? ~ sol 02:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
i didnt think that was necessary, so i didnt implement it. but, ill ask the big man. -- MAGNEDETH 02:54, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Are {{g|}} and {{ga|}} both used as shortcuts for the game template? I think I may have seen them both work in the past, but I just want to be sure. --Bulbapedian - Talk 01:56, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

hmm, im not sure. youre best bet might be to ask Mav. hes been really tackling the templates these days. -- MAGNEDETH 01:59, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Serebii.net Special characters

Why shouldn't we externally link to Serebii.net for Special characters? The only entries listed were in Japanese, so I thought that since the vast majority of our readers are only fluent in English, they should be able to read a more complete bio on each character. Hypo Prower 01:23, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

because we are Bulbapedia, not Serebii. now, im going to go remove those Japanese links that someone put there that arent supposed to be there. -- MAGNEDETH 01:24, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
That doesn't make any sense. Every external link listed should be a different website. I mean, would we not put TRsRockin.com on the TRsRockin.com article just because it's a different fan site? I just don't see what's wrong with having a link to a more complete bio than what's even on Bulbapedia itself. Hypo Prower 20:57, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
the point is to expand OUR articles, not tell people to go to another site. the TRs thing, thats only glitches. -- MAGNEDETH 20:58, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
OK, I kinda see your point, but why don't we just expand our glitch articles to have the same info as TRsRockin? Hypo Prower 22:37, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
because thatd be copying. plagiarism. granted, for i know were partners with them or something. or for all i know, were not and shouldnt have their links on your site! i should look into that. -- MAGNEDETH 22:38, 1 February 2009

In order to keep our Administrator list currently up-to-date, this is a generic "are you there" message.

You've been assumed as currently active and are already marked as such, but if you disagree with this, either edit the List of administrators to reflect your status (Active, Hiatus, Inactive, or EVIL BASTARD), or reply here when you get the chance. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 16:11, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Multiple Edits

The reason I am making multiple edits is because I couldn't find the edit mode. On the wiki I am used to, it is on the left side-bar, but on this wiki it is not there. So I was going through and editing things one section at a time. Though, I think I see it now, on the top of the page, so that shouldn't happen again.

Also, I deleted the new user-info off of my talk page, but not anything that Rex said to me. At least, I did not mean to delete anything that rex said to me. - unsigned comment from Jacobe (talkcontribs)

well, not all wikis are the same and im inclined to think youre not even entirely familiar how a wiki works. you removed the welcome template, which is against the rules, but, you should probably actually look through the template and read on our policies and general rules of editing. also, you dont have to go to someone elses page to comment, it breaks up the conversation. -- MAGNEDETH 00:58, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Togepi evolution line gender ratios

I'm sorry, but 223 is not the correct gendercode for Togepi and its evolution line. If it were, the line's gender ratio would be 87.5% favoring female (to which 223 is that ratio's gendercode), thus making Fein's shadow Togetic very easy to obtain as a female. However, the evolution line's actual gender ratio is 87.5% favoring male (this ratio's gendercode is 31), which means the shadow Togetic is an absolute ***** to try to get female. I don't see how you honestly believed Togepi and its evolution line was female-dominated, especially given how Mystery Dungeon 1 portrayed Togetic and Blissey (a female-only species) as lovers in some Wonder Mail deliveries...--Shiningpikablu252 04:38, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

What do you mean, useless trivia?!

How is the trivia I added to Tropius and Absol's pages useless?? It shows the many similarities between the two species. And even if these similarities were unintentional (as they probably were), that doesn't mean that they can't be noted in the trivia sections! I'm Missingno. Master. See my new and improved user page, and comment on it! 00:39, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

i could make some of those "similarities" based on numerous Pokemon. -- MAGNEDETH 00:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
But all of them? I included some mind-bendingly specific similarities in there (particularly regarding the Generation IV abilities and the Murkrow and Sunkern families, as well as their first locations being on rainy routes connected to Fortree). I realize some of them were kinda generic, but not all of them. I'm Missingno. Master. See my new and improved user page, and comment on it! 00:45, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
no, they were all generic actually. like how Absol and Tropius both have rounded a object attached to their face. -- MAGNEDETH 00:47, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
All of them together is kind of not generic abnormal. BTW, all trivia is useless. That doesn't make it bad. --ニョロトノ666 00:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't seem to be able to recall any other Pokémon that have curved objects attached to their heads, with the possible exceptions of Pinsir, Tauros, and Heracross's horns. Actually, I should've worded that better to exclude horns, as neither sickles nor bananas are horns. I'll give you that much. Now, I'll go over the trivia and see how generic it is.
  • Introduced in Gen. III. That applies to a good number of Pokémon. Fairly generic.
  • In their first games, were only found on one route each, rarely, and said routes had rainfall and their north exits led to Fortree. Doesn't apply to anything else, with the POSSIBLE exception of Kecleon. Not generic in the least.
  • No evolutions. Roughly 90% of Pokémon are involved in evolution. Somewhat generic.
  • Uncommon type combos. Applies to some Pokémon, depending on type. Slightly generic.
  • Colo. shadow Pokémon, level in high 40s, Realgam colosseum. Only applies to 4 Pokémon total, as Metagross was lv. 50 and T-Tar lv. 55. Not generic.
  • Curved object on head. I should've worded it differently to exclude horns. Generic.
  • One ability initially, given another in Gen. IV, shares ability w/2-member evo family where stone is needed, and lowest form comes from Gen. II, and all of them share a type, plus the flying thing, and the letter S and two-word name. I don't think it applies to anything else. Couldn't get less generic than this.
  • Quadrupedal. Possibly the most generic piece of trivia here.
  • Not in original Sinnoh dex, but in Platinum's expansion. Applies to almost 60 Pokémon. Kinda generic.
  • Jap and English names identical. Applies to a fair amount of Pokémon. Fairly generic.

In review, it seems that a few of these are somewhat generic. However, you can't deny I've found a stunning amount of similarities. I think a compromise could work here: I could re-add only the non-generic trivia. What say you? I'm Missingno. Master. See my new and improved user page, and comment on it! 01:06, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

the only interesting thing i see is that both are located on a rainy route headed to Fortree, but even that doesnt seem notable enough. -- MAGNEDETH 01:12, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
No, that would defeat the purpose. If we're going to add it, we need all the similarities, even the generic ones, to make it seem viable. --ニョロトノ666 01:13, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Uh, I'm goin around talk sites and asking people what their favorie pokemon are. I'll put the results on my site. Go to my talk page for questions.=) - unsigned comment from Gallade1235 (talkcontribs)

this isnt a talk site and its against the rules to advertise your site like this (not that you left a link anyway). its also against the rules to spam talkpages with non-wiki comments, so, i dont suggest doing that. and finally, if you dont know what my fav Pokemon is, damn. -- MAGNEDETH 22:49, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

couldn't u be a little nicer?

C'mon? be nicer? U sound mean.--Darknesslover5000 02:39, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

bugging me is only making it worse. especially given its apparent you dont even know how to properly edit a wiki. -- MAGNEDETH 00:16, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Vandal

Pikapower1 seems to be a vandal. And a stupid one at that. They've created the 'Moo Glitch' ("Mew Glitch") and have been messing with Chiisai-u. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/Pikapower1 シンジShinjiLover,Edits 13:47, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

To be honest, I think it's just a little temper tantrum. ΘρtιmαtumTalk 13:50, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
We've already notified the user. Any admin would notice it, and will do the necessary action. Ҝəυzø8 13:52, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Still, a vandal is a vandal. Vandalizing pages = Not okay. (And Magnedeth was the first admin that popped into my head. XD) シンジShinjiLover,Edits 13:56, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Its OK. Nate blocked him.--Clarky13 13:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw. Never mind, Magnedeth! =D Too slow. XD シンジShinjiLover,Edits 13:59, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
well, seems all this took place around 9:00am my time, so, i was still asleep. -- MAGNEDETH 19:51, 1 March

Spacing

But it was decided that description, like quantity, coloration, etc. would be on a separate line--KukiTalk 20:53, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

that may be, but id sacrifice an agreement if it meant keeping something looking better. i fixed it anyway. -- MAGNEDETH 20:56, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

???

I havent been on this seince last month?-User:Gallade1235

if by last month you mean 3 days ago? -- MAGNEDETH 21:07, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank You

Thanx for the notes. I don't know how many edits we have a day though. How many are there per day? - unsigned comment from Topaztails (talkcontribs)

it isnt "how many per day" its more, dont edit your page waaay more than editing the mainspace. for more information, you can read some pages located in the Welcome on your talk page. like how to sign your comments, which you need to do by the way. just insert 4 tildes (~ x4) -- MAGNEDETH 03:16, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I tried adding a signature for the forum and read the manual on the subject but the code did not work as I thought it would. I added the code where it says "Signature:" and checked the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" is there something wrong?

--TopazTails 05:10, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

possibly. add the following code into the textbox
--{{u|Topaztails}}
and dont add line breaks for your signature, it is against the rules. -- MAGNEDETH 05:12, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Some things

Is it just my connection, or is the entire network, including the forums, acting slow/ not working? Also, how can I assist in Platinum updates both before and after release? I messsaged TTE on his talk page, but it is locked, so I tried to get his attention through an edit summary on my talk page, but he's probably too busy to notice. --Bulbapedian - Talk 20:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

well, the forums have been getting plagued by memecache errors recently, and the rest of the site is just slow due to heavy traffic. so, its not just you. as for PT updates, im not sure. were currently in a Pt update dead zone of something. -- MAGNEDETH 20:31, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll wait for the game to come out, then. I have it reserved, so I'll be able to help out on the day it comes out. --Bulbapedian - Talk 20:33, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
