Welcome to Bulbapedia, Laspandrea!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! Lanthanum (talk) 22:08, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry for this. I have little experience in editing wiki-based pages. I actually click that button, but I always miss something, that I would like to add to the page, only after I clicked the Save Changes button. Also, I often notice errors only after that. Sorry again, I'll try to be more careful. Laspandrea (talk) 22:22, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

GB2 stuff

Are you planning on also updating Template:GB2 Decks? I think it would be best if you did that sooner rather than later (but in one edit, ideally). I used to know a bit about it, but ultimately GB2 decks is mainly CycloneGU's project. Anyway, in addition to making sure that translations (and page titles) are somewhat consistent across the wiki in general, I'd also like to make sure in particular that there'll eventually be no deck pages not being linked to. Nescientist (talk) 17:54, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I would like to update that template like this User:Charlie/Sandbox, but Charlie's template lacks of several decks and several others have translation different from these that I'am using now. So, I think that update the template in one edit may be difficult at this time. I'm taking notes for every deck that now are in Special:LonelyPages, example Zapdos' Power Plant Deck. Regarding CycloneGU's project, it seems that CycloneGU has dropped the project off almost 3 years ago, but all my works on decklist, their names and their translations are based on his Sandbox (page like this User:CycloneGU/GB2 Sandbox and others). Right now, only Ronald's decks are missing from CycloneGU's sandbox. Laspandrea (talk) 18:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
I was thinking sooner rather than later would help organize stuff? (And I'd like to point out that I think Charlie's template is a bit large imo.) I'm basically interested in the final product you have in mind. I think some pages may need to be moved? If you need help or a second opinion on anything, feel free to ask here (or else just continue what you've been doing). Nescientist (talk) 10:55, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
I'm still playing and analylizing the game, that's why I haven't used Charlie's template yet. I'm still unsure of some translations and I would like to make it in one edit, but there are over 130 decks and it will be difficult to make a short template and including all of them. Would you have suggestions? Regarding moving pages, you're right: almost 20 pages need to be moved. My project is: I'm going to create an article for every deck ( except for someone like these Game_Center#Card_Dungeon) verifying the accuracy of the decklist, then to move articles, then to link every character to his/her deck (using '{main}' template, for example), then to create a helpful template that gather all of them. I would like to add missing sprites and layouts and more trivia and info about each deck also. Right now, I'm checking and creating articles for GR Island decks, if you want to help, I really appreciate it. Laspandrea (talk) 11:38, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
Ah, I see.
One idea is to create a userpage (such as at User:Laspandrea/GB2) that's updated as you go (by you primarily, but also by others such as myself). You could update ideas for what you have in mind for Template:GB2 Decks, a list or table on what the state of the pages is (such as "to be created", "created and consistent across all related pages", "should be moved to <X>", "translation needed", etc.). Concentrate on the actual work, of course, but maybe updating this like daily would help?
As for the template, my main focus was the font size. I have only played GB1, so I won't be able to give much in-depth help (and I don't know how sensible Charlie's structure by coins is, but I guess some structure is a good thing).
I could probably help with moving pages and consistency across the wiki. That's just busywork, and you're doing a lot of things, so if you'd provide a list, I might see what I can do? Nescientist (talk) 12:15, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello Nescientist, I've just created the subpage. Check it and let me know what you think about it. Feel free to edit anything. Laspandrea (talk) 18:10, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Size of TCG GB2 sprites

Hello. Thanks for your work on TCG GB2 articles, I appreciate it. I have a question about the character sprites though. I could be mistaken, but apparently the size of character sprites is 48×48. Some people have uploaded 96×96 sprites (that is, twice the size). For instance, this file that you uploaded: File:TCG2 Catherine.png, but also this other file uploaded by someone else: File:TCG2 Brittany.png (which was originally 48×48 and then reuploaded as 96×96).

I'm genuinely wondering if there are any 96×96 sprites in-game that I have not found yet (which is entirely possible), or if people have been stretching the sprites first and then uploading them.

I guess we should only upload the original 48×48 sprites instead of stretching the sprites, right? They can easily be displayed with other sizes by using wikitext if needed, like [[File:TCG2 Catherine.png|96px]]. Apparently the sprites from the first game have been generally uploaded with the original 48×48 size, like File:TCG1 Brittany.png.

A few weeks ago, I have uploaded a few 48×48 character sprites for Mark (GB) (from both GB1 and GB2) and also Mint (GB2). --Daniel Carrero (talk) 15:16, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello Daniel, thank you. You're right, the original sprite size is 48×48, there are no 96×96 sprites in-game. I checked the Manual of style. Under the Sprite paragraph, there is "Please avoid trimming sprites, and never scale sprites.", but also, under the Other sprites paragraph there is "Minimal alteration of screenshots are preferred. Any changes should attempt to preserve the original content and quality of the image. In the case of notably low-quality screenshots, however, alterations which increase the quality of the screenshot are acceptable."
Basically, I have followed CycloneGU's style (he is a staff member). He updated all GB2 old sprites in the Archives to 96x96 and improved the quality with some kind of filter (in fact, his sprites are scaled and don't have their original GBC colors.) So, these scaled sprites, at least for the TCG GB2 game and at least for the trainer's ones, seem acceptable. Laspandrea (talk) 15:27, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Hey

Sorry I never got back to you sooner. I've been very busy with stuff and still will be for the next couple of months, at a minimum. I see you've been hard at work on things! It was a while ago that I first did the charts in my sandbox and I forget the specific way that was done, but if I'm remembering correctly, I know the person who helped me with them and I believe those are considered the absolute correct names; I did ask him to look them over, however, to make sure. Anything that needs to be changed will be, but good job filling in the things I haven't gotten around to working on yet. It's appreciated. It took a lot of time to look up the decks I got to and I'm just happy they are all added. =) CycloneGU (talk) 02:57, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Thanks CycloneGU! I'll continue to work on the other GB2-related articles, but it would be nice if you, or another admin if you're busy, could check all those merge, move and delete requests in the decks articles and the Laspandrea/Template:Fort Leader.Laspandrea (talk) 10:21, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Decklist Source?

My sandbox shows all of the character decklists from research I did playing the game back in 2017, and is based on the actual coding which shows the exact game ID of all 60 cards in the deck. I am looking at You Can Do It Machop! Deck (TCG) and noticing the deck is vastly different; the one you created, for instance, doesn't feature Pikachu while my sandbox demonstrates that Pikachu is part of the deck. All of the Club Member and Club Master decks I researched are on that page; one or two may be missing from a later stage in the game, but otherwise they are complete. I am therefore curious what source you used to create the decklists. Some do match, meanwhile; I saw that I Love to Fight Deck (TCG) in fact sources my sandbox. CycloneGU (talk) 19:21, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Following up. I found it. You had referenced New Machoke Deck (TCG) instead by accident. I'm correcting it to the intended deck. CycloneGU (talk) 23:23, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for correcting all those typos. The decklists are based on in-game memory and on your sandbox, apart from Ronald's Ultra Deck because I couldn't check in-game data. Laspandrea (talk) 15:58, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
