Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Jdogno4!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Jdogno4/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:03, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Please...

Your addition to Harley was large and informative (as far as I can tell; I don't keep up with anything pertaining to the anime), but you need to work on the quality of your writing. Please read over the manual of style and look at the edits I made to your edit to get a better idea of what you should be doing differently. Specifically, it's Pokémon, not pokemon; capital P and e-acute. Thank you for you contribution! --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:30, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

And don't put it in a word document or put episode titles in quotes (ie, not "Pokémon - I Choose You!", but instead linked as Pokémon - I Choose You!). By putting it into a word document, you made those really annoying slanty quotation marks and apostrophes, rather than normal ones. Hell, it looks like it's some essay you typed up then decided to crosspost here. I do admire that, but next time, please try to break it into sections on the page. TTEchidna 05:14, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Don't forget to put italics around episode titles when you link to them. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 01:07, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Link templates

Please use the link templates when linking to articles about Pokémon, moves, abilities, types and many other Pokémon-related meta. --PAK Man Talk 06:24, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Editing

Before you start editing again, could you please take the time to read the Bulbapedia:Manual of style? You need to link to episodes and not just put the title.

  • An Old Family Blend! = No
  • ''[[DP182|An Old Family Blend!]]'' = Yes

Thanks. --ケンジガール 07:31, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --Masatoshitalk 08:03, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Once again, use the preview key when making multiple edits. It's great that you're helping expand pages with more detailed background, but try to consolidate your edits. --rockersk08 01:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Linking

Hey, when linking to a specially named page, please use the respective link template instead of regular [[ ]] brackets. For example, {{p| }} will link to "_____ (Pokémon)" which is used for species articles. Thanks. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 07:13, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring

It's best not to edit war. Especially when more than one admin is undoing your edits. Please remember this for the future and discuss things on the talk page first. Thank you. --ケンジガール 09:25, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --ForceFire 13:28, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Again, please start using the preview button. Thanks. --ケンジガール 05:47, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
This is your last warning. Please use the preview button or at least avoid editing a page so many times in a row. It stresses our server. If you don't you will be put in the force preview user group where it will require you to preview your edits before you save. --ケンジガール 09:54, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Edits

The edits that you have made were pointless. Unless it effects how it looks on your screen, do specify that, it avoids confusion.--ForceFire 13:28, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring... again

If you have a problem, next time consult the talk page instead of repeatedly reverting people. As for Harley, he hardly qualifies as a villain when compared to the actions of real villains.

Because of your edit warring, you have been blocked for two days. When you come back, lease remember that when an admin reverts your edit, it is probably for a good reason. Thank you. --ケンジガール 08:38, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Blocked

For continued edit warring over categorization of Harley's Cacturne, you have been blocked for the duration of one week. If you feel Harley is a villain, you are free to bring it up and discuss it on the article's talk page. Continuing to force your beliefs upon the categorization of our articles, however, will not be permitted. If you continue with these actions after your block expires, you will be given increasingly longer blocks. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:51, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Blocked again

Once more, you've decided to result to edit warring instead of consulting talkpages. As a result I've blocked you for two weeks. When you come back please don't do it again or it will be much longer.

As for Trip, you should leave your personal opinion of him out of the article. I doubt he's a xenophobe or a biggot. He only thinks he's of higher class when compared to Ash and most likely uses Kanto to get on his nerves. Calling him a xenophobe is extreme. –ケンジガール 22:44, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Fourth block

For continued edit warring on Trip's page, you have now been blocked for the duration of one month. You have been told twice by the Editorial Board's Head of Anime, Kenji-girl that terms such as "xenophobic" and "bigot" should not be used, and you have ignored both of those messages. This is your fourth block for edit warring, further disregard for Bulbapedia policy, editing practices, and staff authority will not be tolerated and will result in additional and extremely extended blocks. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:08, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

The Preview Button (3)

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! Pokégeek 11:20, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Ghetsis

I would like to apologize for not consulting all the evidence. Admittedly, I had been assuming you were referring to the BW quote, when you were referring to the B2W2 quote. I went and checked this, and found that in the English version of B2W2 they do indeed say "royal servants of Ghetsis". However, this seemed odd to me as it was inconsistent with BW (which used a very similar phrase but instead with "loyal") and Ghetsis had not been referred to as royalty elsewhere. Anyway, I checked the Japanese text and it says 「われら ダークトリニティは 今までも 今も ゲーチスさまの 忠実な 部下!」 which translates to "We, the Dark Trinity, are the loyal subordinates of Ghetsis-sama now and forever!" Which means that while I was wrong that "royal" isn't in their in-game text, Ghetsis should not be treated as royal as this is only a typo caused by the translators. --SnorlaxMonster 16:58, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Iris's Axew

Please note that both "Iris's" and "Iris'" are grammatically correct when used in a possessive manner. On Bulbapedia, we use the former so all articles can stay relatively standard. Examples are pages such as "James's Yamask" and' Iris's Dragonite" Please stop changing them to just have the one apostrophe. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 05:16, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Grammar education site explains possessive punctuation. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 05:25, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Edit previewing

Jdogno4, you have been told multiple times that you need to your edits before saving them, and yet you are still taking multiple edits when you're leaving comments on talk pages and modifying articles. Since it seems that telling you to use the preview button is not enough, you have now been added to the "forcepreview" usergroup. This will make previewing edits a mandatory process for you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:09, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Re:What's the problem?

Apologies for the late response.

Firstly, you were replacing every semicolon with a colon. Semicolons separate two complete independent clauses, as all the ones in the articles were. Colons offset lists and certain short phrases (not clauses).

Secondly, you were removing all the Oxford commas, which, while not used by everyone, are used by Bulbapedia.

Thirdly, you seemed to be replacing every instance of the word and with "as well as", which is just unnecessary and a weird way to phrase things.

Fourthly, you were separating sentences in odd places, making some short, choppy sentences.

Finally, you were flooding the recent changes with several minor edits to the same article, which you've been warned about several times already. Try to use the preview button and looking over the whole article first in the future. -- EnosShayremtalk 00:03, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring

Not only did you just recently re add an edit that was reverted, you have a history of adding and re adding the piece of trivia. As for the reason why it was reverted: here. Read the edit summary, eat the edit summary, digest the edit summary and let. it. go.--ForceFire 11:01, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Unnecessary changes

It seems that you have clearly not changed, you continue to make completely useless changes. Please cease these pointless edits, there are no grammar errors where you think there are grammar errors, the mirror world category is not needed as it is a one time thing that will not show up again, god and deity are basically the same thing. Since this isn't the first time you've been warned about this, this will be your only warning, cease making pointless edits or face a lengthy block.--ForceFire 12:47, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Please do not just add back the edits, if you have a problem, discuss it. A god is a deity. A king is a royal. Just like a goddess is a deity and a queen is a royal. Deity and Royal are gender neutral terms.--ForceFire 03:38, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Due to your continual habit of reverting users and admins alike, and refusal to stop when an admin tells you to, you have been blocked for a week.. Theere is absolutely no issue with using gender neutral terms. Heck, Pokémon articles have to be gender neutral in the first place, so using Deity is fine.--ForceFire 06:02, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Signature

I'm curious. Why do you streamline" your signature every time? Shouldn't it be possible to just edit it in your preferences so that part you keep removing never appears? Tiddlywinks (talk) 06:56, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Spamming talk pages

Please don't spam multiple talk pages with the same thing, it's pointless and clogs the recent changes. Use one talk page and stick with it. Also, you can "streamline" your signature (which to me looks like you're just removing the dashes, not sure why), you can just manually type out the four tildes (~) so the dashes don't appear in the first place (the dashes automatically appear when you click on the signature button).--ForceFire 07:20, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Reversions

Time and time again, do NOT just revert an edit. DISCUSS it with the user that reverted you. You have been told plenty of times about this, but you are simply not reading your messages. The mirror world category is not needed, the changes you made were unnecessary. The context is saying that they are the mirror world counterparts of the real world Bonnie, Serena, etc.. There are no mirror world counterparts of the mirror world characters. And the comma after the second object is grammatically correct.--ForceFire 08:24, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

You appear to have forgotten. You need to discuss things when you have been reverted, not re-do your edit. And ForceFire answered your question about the character links on Mirror World above.
Please cease your editing where you have previously been reverted. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:19, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

"Streamlining signature"

Hi, I've noticed that you often edit talk pages a second time after commenting to "streamline" your signature by removing the "--" at the start of it. In case you didn't know, you can control how your signature appears in your preferences, meaning you can set it so that signing with ~~~~ doesn't include the "--" in the first place. This way, you only need to edit the page once whenever you leave a comment.--Cold (talk) 00:27, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Jdogno4, your signature is appearing with "--" at the beginning because you are clicking the signature button, which inserts --~~~~. However, this is in no way forcing you to save your posts with that "--" before your signature.
You may either delete the "--" before your signature before you save your post, resulting in only ~~~~, or you may forego the signature button entirely and simply type ~~~~ at the end of your posts manually. Please adopt one of these solutions. You should not be re-editing your posts to "streamline" your signature every time you make a post.
Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 08:01, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
"Jdogno4, your signature is appearing with "--" at the beginning because you are clicking the signature button, which inserts --Jdogno4 (talk) 08:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC).": I get that. "However, this is in no way forcing you to save your posts with that "--" before your signature.": I get that as well. "You may either delete the "--" before your signature before you save your post, resulting in only Jdogno4 (talk) 08:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC), or you may forego the signature button entirely and simply type Jdogno4 (talk) 08:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC) at the end of your posts manually.": I suppose I am trying to avoid deleting the "Jdogno4 (talk) 08:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC)" when I remove the "--". There is less chance of that once the signature is stamped.
--Jdogno4 (talk) 08:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
(The above is technically copied from here.)
Two things.
1) No, there is not less chance of a mistake after you have saved. For two reasons. Firstly, as I said, you do not have to use the signature button. You can just type the 4 tildes (~) manually. Secondly: you need to learn to use the preview button. You have been informed about it many times above. PLEASE learn it now. If you use the preview button, then you can be sure you have not made a mistake in either removing the "--" from --~~~~ or in typing the 4 tildes manually.
2) Please do not split a discussion among multiple talk pages. If a discussion was started on your talk page (like this one), do not make your response on the other person's talk page, make your response here, where it was started.
Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 08:54, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

God/Deity

Just to get your attention: Cease editing god/deity. You should not edit those for any reason. Period.

Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 06:00, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Indefinite block

Hello, you have been blocked indefinitely on this wiki due to your continual edit warring and refusal to listen when told to stop. We've already told you why using "gods" isn't wrong, but you refuse to read the explanation. We have asked you to explain why you think it's wrong, but you completely dodge the question and refuse to acknowledge other's opinions. The reason I went for in indefinite block is as this is your third block this month, and your 8th overall, all for the same reasoning. Thank you.--ForceFire 06:09, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
