Welcome to Bulbapedia, IHHeroes!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Talk page policy

Hi! Per our userspace policy, I have to ask you not to use your talk page for personal projects. Your talk page is meant for discussions about how to improve the wiki; other projects should go on a page in your userspace. Thanks! Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:22, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

Side game data

For the moment, I'd like to ask you to hold off on trying to add Shuffle data to more Pokemon pages. If you don't know how to use a template right, that doesn't really mean it's the best choice to use it wrongly anyway. You can always ask someone for help figuring it out.

Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:42, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

So you've figured out how to update the side game data correctly. Great! However, if you want to perform those updates, I'm going to need a few things from you...
  1. Don't keep skipping around the Pokemon. Start somewhere in the National Dex and move forward or backwards from there. (In fact, I'm going to ask you to start with Mareep and move forward from there: Flaaffy, Amhparos, Bellossom...etc.)
  2. You have to update the navigation header and footers. (I.e., the PokémonPrevNext templates.)
  3. I have a spreadsheet that can make the process a bit faster (and a certain amount reliable/consistent as well). I want you to use that spreadsheet to do these updates. I'll link it to you in a bit (if you want to do all this) after I've made a few necessary updates.
(...Until then, I want to ask you to continue to hold off on your updates. Thanks.)
Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:34, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
...Again, I asked you to hold off on this. Please don't edit any more side game data until I say it's okay. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:03, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, just now saw this. I had several pulled up and was working on them at the same time. I was only doing the ones that I had unlocked on Shuffle. I wasn't planning on doing all of them. But when I unlock them, I can add them if I don't see it there. IHHeroes (talk) 19:11, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
I need pretty much the three things above from you if you're going to convert the old side game data to the new format on any Pokemon page. My spreadsheet can actually fill in the Shuffle data (based on info from this site). So if you want to help updating side game data, and you're willing to follow the requirements above, great! (Just say so.) Otherwise, I'd like to ask you to just leave the side games section alone if it's not updated; just wait for when we can get to it. (If we have updated it, you're free to add data for any missing side games.)
Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:16, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
I mean, I guess I can help when I have time? I don't understand what you mean by updating the header footer thing. What does that have to do with it? IHHeroes (talk) 19:23, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
We've been trying to update all our Pokemon pages to use both the new side games templates and new navigation templates. Basically, everything that's changed in this edit should be changed in every edit to the side game data. It's simpler if you just do the nav header and footer at the same time as the side game data so someone else doesn't have to come back through to finish it up.
This is the spreadsheet. I hope it's fairly self-explanatory. It's basically just a bit of copy-pasting and then a bit of cleanup (because making it output perfectly for this is a tad bit complicated with a spreadsheet =P ). But hopefully it's still a bit faster than doing each by hand. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:38, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
So, I did Flaaffy but on Ranger3, there was no assist listed and if I left it blank, a video would appear. So I put Electric (since Ranger1 was that way)....I didn't know what to do. IHHeroes (talk) 19:47, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Also, I can't open up that file. And Blossom doesn't have it listed where it can be found in Shuffle. Is this on that Spreadsheet? IHHeroes (talk) 19:50, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Then try this. (Otherwise I can probably just link you Google Sheets.) Flaaffy's assist should best have been left blank.
...Also, please do remember to update the nav header and footer as well. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
And also, please don't shuffle around the subtemplates randomly. There's a certain order to the templates, and while it may be reasonable to adjust that in some cases, we need to figure out what limits, if any, we want to put on that first. Right now we haven't thought much about that. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:03, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

(resetting indent)I need to ask a little more of you. There are a number of problems in this edit...

First and foremost, please pay attention to what you save (and/or just preview before you save). The broken table should have been very easy to spot. (I might also recommend that you just search for #N/A before you save to make sure you didn't miss any like that.)

Second, the Shadows of Almia and PokePark boxes do not belong there at all; those aren't Slowking's. The spreadsheet recommended you erase one Pokemon's data before pasting in another's, and you probably didn't do that, resulting in Slowking magically having this data it shouldn't.

As a precaution against all this, I'd also ask you to just open one window on the current Pokemon page, open another for editing the code, and then preview/view them together so you can compare the side game data in one window to the other. That way, you should easily be able to spot if something's gone wrong.

Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:36, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Okay, sorry about that. I stopped at 215, Sneasel (Pokémon). I can continue the next time I have free time. Let me know where to start when I come back. IHHeroes (talk) 22:05, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Just wondering, what has already been converted over? I am assuming up to #215 (Sneasel), but is it started from the other side as well? IHHeroes (talk) 22:21, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Yes. Kalos and a few more south of Chespin should be updated at the moment (i.e., somewhere in the 600-650 range). Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:28, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
I just found where that is and went ahead and did some more. I will update these two values when I come back. If you work on some, will you update them too? IHHeroes (talk) 23:00, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

(resetting indent)I imagine you've done it other places, which we're going to have to check, but please don't edit what I've entered for a Shuffle Pokemon's max power, as you seem to have done here. Your correction is not the right max. Thank you. Tiddlywinks (talk) 11:35, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Please, if you're going to help update the side game templates, stick to an order. If you're going to do Gen III Pokémon and go forwards, stick to that. If you're going to do Gen V Pokémon and go backwards, stick to that. Don't just update all over the place; it makes it hard for the staff to monitor what has been done and what hasn't been done. Additionally, you're not the only person updating these templates. We want to avoid edit conflicts as much as possible. So please, choose one order and stick to it. Thank you. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 20:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

You know, I was doing this because I found it fun and a tad enjoyable. But everyone here is just rude. It seems like no one cares, they just want to criticize. I have finished up through Swellow and down to Klink. But I'm done. This is not fun with rude people. IHHeroes (talk) 21:11, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

This isn't a small project. It's tedious and requires updates to 700+ pages. We want these to either be done right, or not done at all, because if a page is updated and seems to be done right when it actually hasn't been, then small mistakes slip through and we risk having wrong information and misleading readers. We don't want that, at all. I apologize if any of the staff had seemed rude to you, but if you choose to stop here, then we thank you for all of your help. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 21:21, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
I want to chime in on this too, if I may. When I posted the section below this, it was not to "be rude". It was to advise on the proper way of doing things on Bulbapedia as far as talk pages go. I'm not trying to be mean or nasty, and I also appreciate your help on this. However, at the same time, it is correct that it's easier to keep track of things going in proper order than all over the place, and having to make multiple edits on a page to fix any possible mistakes is not ideal. We'd rather do it once, not three or four times. And we're not attempting to be rude in saying that, only trying to help you improve yourself as an editor here. I make mistakes too; I mean, every single mistake is documented, and I agree, sometimes the comments might come across sounding rude to some people even if they are not intended that way (a problem I face all the time in my life), but you learn as you go. Please look at it as constructive criticism, not as trying to be outright rude. We don't do that. If you think someone is being rude to you, please address it with a staff member at a higher level than the staffer in question; for instance, if you think a junior administrator is being rude, address it with an administrator and the action can be reviewed. It doesn't always mean there's an actual problem, but at least an understanding can be reached with a third party's help. =) CycloneGU (talk) 00:57, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Talk Page Etiquette

I previously contained a bolded section of text within your full talk page post earlier, but you have since reverted my change and started making "update" types of edits to it. I want to remind you that this is an incorrect usage of your talk page and I have now removed that from the thread above this. This removal is warranted under the following rule regarding talk page etiquette: "On Bulbapedia talk pages, it is not acceptable to use your own user talk page as a substitute for a user page". Such updating edits do exactly that. Please review the entire talk page policy for further hellp on how to use your talk page. Thank you. CycloneGU (talk) 06:56, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

User Pages

May I recommend recreating what is currently your user page at User:IHHeroes/Camp_Pokémon or, if you plan multiple projects, at User:IHHeroes/Sandbox instead? I'm guessing you are not familiar with the ability to do this, and you probably wanted to use your talk page to try things out before. An advantage of using other pages besides your user page itself is that you can invite others to help with your projects; generally, it's not permitted to edit someone else's user page at all.

If you wish to use your user page anyway, that's no issue. I just wanted to make the suggestion! Just remember that there is a strict edit limit to the userspace - particularly the user page - of three times per day as a privilege for other editing. Sometimes the Editorial Board may be more lenient depending on the project; I myself was well over the limit a few times, for instance, while working on pages for Pokémon Rumble World as they were mainspace candidates and all edits now appear as mainspace edits, anyway. CycloneGU (talk) 05:05, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Camp Pokémon

You are inserting a broken link on every page. The link under the green background goes to a page that doesn't exist. We also have not confirmed you can go ahead and do this, so please stop now. Thank you. CycloneGU (talk) 19:41, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

I have asked you already to please stop editing this information into the pages as you are using the template incorrectly. Thank you. CycloneGU (talk) 19:45, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
