Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Hmdwgf!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Hmdwgf/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --MoldyOrange 22:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Preview button

Please use it instead of making multiple minor edits on the same subject. It shows the changes without saving them so that you can find out and correct any mistakes you may have made.--Diby 18:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Preview

When you're editing, use the preview button. If you make multiple edits to the same page simultaneously, it floods the recent changes.Porygon-Z 18:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Alright, this is your third warning. Please use the Preview button. Its not that difficult to use it. Look at what you have done to the Recent Changes page.--Diby 18:27, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Stop. Use the preview button. You're making the all-seeing-eyes of recent changes very annoyed. Porygon-Z 18:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Please, stop. What's so difficult about clicking a particular button?--Diby 18:41, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Blocked

You've been blocked for 2 hours for flooding, just to cool down. Once the block is up, you're welcome to resume editing while using the preview button. Porygon-Z 18:43, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Deoxys

The page for the Deoxys you were thinking of is located atDeoxys (Destiny Deoxys). Just plain Deoxys is a disambig, and should never be linked to. I'm not entirely sure what you were trying to do with {{an|Deoxys|anime}}, but that would have linked to Deoxys (anime), which redirects to the correct page. You want to avoid redirects when you can.

Also, as you have apparently been told many times before, preview your edits so that you don't wind up making seven of them in a short space of time. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 23:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Seriously, chill. You kept editing so much that you steamrollered right over my fix, so I had to go back and re-do it (after Psychic-Rider already did, no less), so what could have been accomplished in one or two edits wound up taking 13. Oh, and before I forget: It's is a contraction of it is. Its is the possessive form of its. Be sure you're using the right one for the job. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 23:30, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Link templates

Thank you for your addition to EP014. However, you should know about the link templates. When linking to Pokémon, moves, abilities, etc., you should use link templates to ensure you don't hit a disambiguation page or redirect. Don't put [[Body Slam]], use {{m|Body Slam}}. For more information, check out the list of link templates. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 18:27, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

This. Please. Do not link moves with square brackets. TTEchidna 02:28, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Recent edits

I reverted your recent edits to Misty, because the fact that she hates Bug-type Pokémon is already stated above in the anime section. As a rule, information should only be stated once on each page, except in special cases. This is not a special case. Also, please remember to use the e-acute. --ニョロトノ666 20:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Blaaaah

I know it seems like I'm picking on you unfairly here, but you really need to improve a few minor aspects of your writing. For example, it's Pokémon, not Pokemon (note the é), and be sure you can distinguish between it's (a contraction of "it is") and its (the possessive form of "it"). --((Marton imos)) 06:39, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

PREVIEW

5 edits to one talk page before anyone else even says anything! Please, use the preview button. Porygon-Z 18:01, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. --((Marton imos)) 19:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

And sign your comments with ~~~~ on talk pages. Like this: ((Marton imos)) 19:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

PREVIEW

Use the damned "Preview button"! You have been blocked before for edit flooding and you are still not listening?--Diby 06:46, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

This person seems to have been editing their page a lot, and on a few occations. I recon someone should tell an admin... Sorry for stepping in randomly like i normal do. ~~Takoto タコト| サソデイ = 愛 09:32, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

You see, what you did to my talk page is a classic example of what not to do. You edited it thrice and added nothing but a few characters. If instead of doing that, if you had just used the "Show preview" button, it would have showed you the page as it was supposed to appear after saving your edit. Then, you could have spotted the mistakes that you made and you could have rectified it instead of editing it thrice in quick succession. What this does is that it clogs up the Special:RecentChanges with your edits only. As a result, we, the other users are able to see only your edits on the page and may miss some vandal edits. Thus, the vandalism stays in the pages till someone else notices them later (and that can be quite late). Hope you understand the problem and continue editing the way you have done in Giovanni & Cynthia's Garchomp's pages. Thank you.--Diby 10:23, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Edit War

Edit wars are against the rules. Next time you find yourself in a war with another user, take it to a talk page rather continuing with the user. If the other user doesnt listen and continues to war, contact an admin rather than continuing a war. Wars clog the Recent Changes. -- MAGNEDETH 20:55, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Link templates - second reminder

This is your second reminder to use the link templates. Don't type out [[Magmar]]. Instead, type out {{p|Magmar}}. The same applies for types ({{t}}), abilities ({{a}}), moves ({{m}}) as well as countless others. --PAK Man Talk 01:11, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Um

There are far more annoying users than Jmath. Some of them swear and call other people names instead of discussing calmly. Some of them have subtle sarcastic undertones. Some of them threaten to leave, and come back in a few hours. Please rethink your behaviour. So, he's reverting you? Don't revert back. Call in an unbiased third party to mediate the situation. I'd be happy to help; so would any admin I'm sure. Contact me at my talk page if you're interested. — THE TROM — 08:27, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

I take offense to that, Herr Trombo. Anyway, yeah, he's right. Just because someone is reverting your edits, it doesn't mean they are against you. Taken a look at the manual of style? I believe your guidelines for pictures are there. And instead of contributing just pictures, how about other stuff like...uhm...
You know what? Screw it. There's nothing else left to do except stalk the RC. :iconimannoyedplz: Aneeway, bottom line, don't get mad at Jmath. Perhaps the problem lies in your contributions themselves, instead of you. Achtung! Might wanna look at 'em and see if they don't contradict the manual of style. Images

Thanks for getting us some higher quality images; it really is appreciated. Please remember though to always check and doublecheck the captions to make sure they still convey a description of the image. Cheers. —darklordtrom 07:20, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Which article and/or pic was it? -Hmdwgf 07:58, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

No, it wasn't. Plus, FF was right - you can't use funny captions for pictures. --electAbuzzzz 10:54, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
D: This isn't the first time you've been talked to about your manner, so enjoy the cooldown block you're about to receive. —darklordtrom 06:16, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Re: your email. Sorry to hear that, but just wait out your time thank you. —darklordtrom 06:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes. —darklordtrom 21:09, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the trivia section of Pokémon Heroes

Like I said, you seem to think it was appropriate to put a snippy comment in the summary for your edit. It appears to me that you also think that my revision of the caption for a single picture constituted the entire "clean-up". It was the entire section I revised, and I feel that you have no right to be snide in regards to one tiny aspect of that revision. If you feel that something I, or any other user, changes -- in whole or in part -- is not an improvement you're welcome to revise it. I just ask that you do it without scorning the contribution. Vipera 16:06, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

After taking a moment to ponder it, I have decided that I will refrain from reverting the caption to avoid an edit war; however, I do think it would be better if it tied into the piece of trivia it accompanies.

And I apologize for the manner in which I responded to you in my own edit summary. No hard feelings? Vipera 16:20, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

My first comments weren't so bad as to call them snide, but the second comments were rather out of line. No hard feelings. Btw, I see you've been working on a lot of synopses on the anime episodes, I also do that as well. I would be glad to help you out. --Hmdwgf 08:35, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

"I'm lovin' it!"

I really like your pictures. Where do you get them. And then, to the business:

  • Gary Oak -article needs a better image of Aerodactyl, I mean with better resolution. Could you help?
  • I just added a template on Morrison's article. Almost all Pokémon pictures are missing. Could you help in this as well?

--FinnishPokéFan92 18:14, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, and yeah I can get all those pics. It will be done. --Hmdwgf 21:52, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for those pics, they were awesome, where did you get them? And here's a little more. I also added a template on Jasmine's page. It needs a pic of her Magnemite and a better one of her Steelix. I guess you can handle the job? :) --FinnishPokéFan92 17:50, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for adding those pics, they were great, like always. Now I have a one-pic-request: I just added a template on Koga's anime Pokémon list's "At Fuchia Gym" part. Could you please add a picture of his multiple Voltorb to this template? I'm sure that if anyone can do it, it's you. --FinnishPokéFan92 13:02, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I have more: someone has added a template on Giovanni's Pokémon. Everybody else but Persian don't have pic. Could you help? And if possible, Mewtwo could have a pic where it is wearing it's armor. --FinnishPokéFan92 13:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

I have now added a Pokémon template on the article "Invincible Pokémon Brothers". Could you add there pics of their each Pokémon? --FinnishPokéFan92 13:56, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the Hitmon-pics there. Could you now add pics of their Tentacruel as well? --FinnishPokéFan92 09:00, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I understand. It may take longer to get an image from a special episode. --FinnishPokéFan92 13:30, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Here I am again! This time would like to have a pic of Salon Maiden Anabel's Metagross, please. --FinnishPokéFan92 18:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

GOOD JOB

You broke the welcome. When welcoming new users, just put {{subst:welcome}}. That's all you gotta do! TTEchidna 10:30, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I know what I did... --Hmdwgf 10:44, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Pictures

I've noticed that you have some kind of awesome pictures. I can only find low quality ones, and I would like to help find good pictures for a few articles, so, do you have any certain source that you use to get these awesome pics? --GEN1KING 03:17, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

If you don't could you perhaps find a better quality pic of mew using Psybeam, cuz that page is really begging for it. thx! --GEN1KING 03:25, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
You mean this article? I tried uploading a different pic, but Maverick Nate changed it to the one I uploaded before. You can't really see Mew that well because of the pink animation surrounding it that is Psybeam. I don't like that pic because of that reason. I tried doing a suitable pic with Teleport and I thought that worked initially because it shows Mew surrounded by white light, even though everyone knows Mew doesn't evolve; I thought it would be okay. But it appears not. But sure, I can help you find good pics for articles, just name them. --Hmdwgf 04:47, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Cool (and yes, I meant to link to movie 1). I REALLY doubt this meets the quality standards, but what do you think of this picture? Since it has pretty bad quality, do you think you could find something sort of like that, because the Gyarados one is actually a flamethrower picture of misty's gyarados that I uploaded a while back, and the Arcanine one is just plain confusing.

Thanks! :) --GEN1KING 08:02, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

No, it doesn't. The pic above is sub-par quality. It looks like a smaller pic that has been enlarged. And the Misty's Gyarados Flamethrower pic must be replaced. It doesn't even show the attack! I can get one, but it will take a while. --Hmdwgf 08:07, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, it's appreciated! So, should the above pic be used, and are you trying to find a new misty's gyarados or a picture of the above? --GEN1KING 13:34, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I did find a new version of your pic. It's right above you. Btw- I looked at the episode in which Gyarados uses Flamethrower and found that it is totally impossible to use without it looking very bad. That's just the way it was animated. --Hmdwgf 13:37, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Awesome! So should the flamethrower pic should be replaced by this by now. Thanks for all your help! --GEN1KING 20:18, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

No problem! --Hmdwgf 20:34, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
