"As" does not mean "because." "Due to" is the only acceptable alternative to "because" that isn't a wordy phrase. "Since" can only be used as a reference to a point in time ''or'' as an alternative to "because" ''only'' if both parties know the reason why. This is a wiki, so we don't assume, so "since" cannot be used as "because."
