I'm not trying to sound hateful or whiny, but it seems unfair for the theory to be chopped down without evidence proving that it's only a stretch. I do appreciate that you didn't remove my entire edit, though. Icycatelf (talk) 05:19, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

:I removed it because Dunsparce doesn't look like the Sphinx. The actual insect being named after the Sphinx is irrelevant to Dunsparce. The spikes on Dunsparce's chin being a beard or the Sphinx's two legs are a real stretch, as they don't remotely look like legs. The "pyramid" is another stretch, as the tip looks nothing like a pyramid. I kept the rest (about the insect) as that was more plausible than the whole Egyptian paragraph.--<span style="color:#EBC600">F</span><span style="color:#EBC600">orce</span><span style="color:#D8B600">F</span><span style="color:#D8B600">ire</span> 12:24, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

I feel that the sphinx-like features are somewhat vague since the caterpillar, said to resemble the sphinx, also doesn't look all that much like one. While the chin prongs don't look like the sphinx's legs, their positioning is reminiscent of a sphinx while their shape more closely resemble caterpillar legs. I agree that a cone and a pyramid don't look quite the same, but I thought it was worth mentioning since it's a triangular shape positioned behind what I felt looked like a sphinx, as pyramids are commonly depicted behind a sphinx, and may have been smoothed down for a more natural appearance. Here's a journal I posted (with images) that may or may not make the theory more seem convincing.
It's fine, though. Other fans can interpret the (possible) sphinx caterpillar inspiration as they like. Icycatelf (talk) 15:38, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
