By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Generation VII learnsets

Hi there. First of all, I want to say that your help in updating Pokémon learnsets is much appreciated. However, I'd like to request that you update the tutoring learnsets and the "by a prior evolution" learnsets as well, in the same edit that you update the level up, TM, and breeding learnsets. It is very confusing for the average reader to see some Generation VII and some Generation VI learnsets on the same page. The tutoring ones should be simple—almost all Pokémon don't learn any tutor moves in Sun and Moon. The only exceptions are the starter Pokémon and some event Pokémon. If a Pokémon doesn't learn any tutor move in Sun and Moon, just put {{learnlist/tutor7null}} where the usual entries would go, while also changing the header and footer to their Gen VII equivalent. The moves exclusive to prior evolutions are basically the level-up moves that their prior evolutions can learn that the Pokémon cannot learn by any other way. If you need some examples to go by, use any Generation I Pokémon's page as a reference. Thanks a lot! --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 21:01, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Before anything else, I'll be sure to go back and update the pages I've already touched to do this, and will also do so going forward. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 21:06, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
The Pokémon in the headers and footers are supposed to be the Pokémon of the page you're editing, not the lowest stage in the evolution line. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 22:29, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Can you provide an example where I made a mistake? I noticed that the breeding moveset is supposed to have the lowest evolution (is that correct?) and was just now "fixing" that on my earlier pages. Was I mistaken? --ChristopherFritz (talk) 22:31, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Aha, I see now. I saw one of the pages has the lowest evolution for breeding, but I see now that others do not. I'll unfix my wrong fixing. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 22:32, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Also, TM numbers are all 2 digits, except for TM100. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 22:36, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
My script for generating the formatted data had a bug where it was leaving out the leading 0 for the first TM, and I thought I fixed all instances of that. I'll check again for any I've missed. (Hopefully the amount of work I do will outweigh the trouble I'm causing...) --ChristopherFritz (talk) 22:40, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Oh my, I see now that my script went funny and is putting three digits for earlier TM's. I'll get that fixed! --ChristopherFritz (talk) 22:45, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Sorry if I sound like I'm pestering you, but I'm just finding things as I go along... Hidden Power and Natural Gift do not get STAB. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 23:02, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
I'll get those cleaned right up and update my script to not STAB those. I didn't even consider them... (Sorry again for the extra work I'm placing on you. Everything you are pointing out is very much appreciated.) --ChristopherFritz (talk) 23:07, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Also, this is probably in your script, too, I'm assuming—Tailwind has 15 PP and not 30. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 23:09, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
I've now reviewed the List of modified moves and updated my table where I'm pulling move data from. I still had a couple of old values in there for PP. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 23:28, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Mirror Coat, Endeavor, and Bide do not receive STAB. Don't worry about the past learnsets—I've fixed them. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 00:26, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Counter and Seismic Toss also do not receive STAB. You might want to look here and here. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 01:41, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Duly noted and script updated. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 01:54, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Japanese Crystal save files

Hi. In the last year there’s been a fair amount of work done reverse engineering the Mobile Adapter. One thing that would be useful is any extant data from the News Machine. Do you happen to have any surviving save files or cartridges from that time period that touched the Mobile Adapter, or know someone who does? If so, I’d love if you’d email me at [email protected]. IIMarckus (talk) 05:29, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

I'm very sorry for butting in to a private discussion (although I doubt that Chris, who's been inactive in the fandom for years, will reply, but maybe?) but in the context of Mobile Adapter, I think that there is one thing that might be worth a try. I know the chances are slim, practically zero but maybe the Japanese VC Crystal is based on a version that has been patched via Mobile Adapter and does feature things like Mobile events and News Machine content (just not accessible during the normal gameplay, but they may be programmed in). Have dataminers already tried that? Also, has anyone documented the details of Japanese VC Crystal - like how Egg Ticket or Battle Tower work (although if there was anything spectacular there, I guess we'd know it by now). --Maxim (talk) 08:55, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
IIMarckus: My Japanese Crystal never went online, so I do not have any first-hand access to this information. I no longer have contact information for anyone I could ask who may have had such data. I imagine there's probably someone out there somewhere who backed up their saved game data before their game battery expired, but I am unaware of anyone specific who would have. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 11:58, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Images

I figured you would be more likely to see it here than on the Archives. But I just want to let you know I am currently getting layout maps for all locations in XY, ORAS, SMUSUM, and Detective Pikachu. So I don't want you to waste time getting screenshots of locations when they are just going to be replaced in the coming weeks. As a matter of fact, there is a few dozen images that are going to be uploaded soon. Lady Ariel 02:08, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. I'll hold off on doing any more 3DS location screenshots. --ChristopherFritz (talk) 02:10, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Your welcome for the information. Lady Ariel 02:18, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
