Kalosian

As you asked in the edit summary on an edit at Goodra (Pokémon) (intentionally typing the full title), the answer is yes. In-game, the word "Kalosian" is used in the description of Kiloude City. Just letting you know. --Bfdifan2006 (T/C) 07:01, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

Creating new Pokemon articles

When creating new articles for Pokemon, use the {{NewPokémon}} template as it has everything that is needed when making new Pokemon articles. Thank you.--ForceFire 13:19, 1 June 2022 (UTC)

Cool, I wasn't aware of the existence of this template, thanks :)4iamking (talk) 13:22, 1 June 2022 (UTC)

Marks in G9event/head

The G9event/head‎‎ template does appear to be planned for use on the Poké Portal News page, as Chosen pre-emptively added that template for Charizard the Unrivaled, (although hidden until we have confirmation of moveset, level, etc.), but that event does indeed have a guaranteed Mark. If it's going to be used on that page to denote certain event raids, then either the "Ribbon" field needs to be reworked to accept Marks, or we need a Mark field. Atrius97 (talk) 00:50, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

The ingame event template is usually used for events that are catchable ingame, through items or otherwise; it's more tailored for that because it doesn't need to specify specific pokéballs and all. I would imagine that would be the one to use, but until we see the specifics of how it will work I wouldn't want to modify the template just yet. -- 4iamking (talk) 01:44, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
Considering we seem to be continuing to use that template for 7★ raids and certain unique bosses like Walking Wake/Iron Leaves, do you have an opinion my recent comment on Talk:Poké Portal News about splitting all the 7★ raids to their own event distribution list page? They're a fairly unique format for event distributions, (also all consistently "1 per player", like other most other event Pokémon).
I'm worried that over the course of 2023, we might be looking at an excessively large page if we continue this trend of near weekly Poké Portal News events. We're only in May and the page already dwarfs what a Wild Area News page would have looked like at the same point in any given year. Atrius97 (talk) 05:53, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
I mean personally, I don't think the Poké Portal news page as we have it right now is fun to read though. I have to say I'm not really a big fan of how we're doing the Poké Portal news page to begin with, especially with just listing the items in long-form text format as we currently are. I feel like it would be nicer to just update the page to reflect more the style of the wild area news articles, though that would require the updating of several protected templates that I have no control over. if that were to happen then we could just note that a certain Pokémon in an event is only single capture like we would for the Shaymin on the Flower Paradise page for example. It would also make that page more visually appealing. Mechanically (other than TPC locking a lot more events to be single capture) PPN works basically like a WAN where the default setting is nothing so I don't see why the articles need to look so different when what we did in SwSh worked well.-- 4iamking (talk) 06:21, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
But I guess to more directly answer your question, I mean my short answer would probably be just that id leave it be, I dont see what would be gained by just making a separate list of promoted raids that are only catchable once, when 75% of them have a Pokémon like that. given the size of the current page, if we just continue with the annual archiving of past PPN promotions, I think thats enough, doesn't seem like the article will ever go much over 100kb, which at that length is fine, the SWSH serial code event page is twice that length (and I've wanted to split those for a while too, but thats kinda fallen on deaf ears) -- 4iamking (talk) 06:44, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
I hard agree that I'd like to simply it down to just encounter tables like Wild Area News, but as you said, we'd need an encounter template for that. My comments on the non-existent Template_talk:Catch/entry9 seem to have also fallen on deaf ears. The typical staff who make/maintain similar catch templates haven't put anything in place so far, and I don't have the knowledge to create it myself. Atrius97 (talk) 09:34, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Honestly looking at the template again, I think we can largely just copy over the Gen 8 one and repurpose for gen 9.... replace the weather spawns with Dusk/day/night and the Gen 8 MS sprites for Gen 9 MS sprites, changing the wishing piece sprite for a tera orb sprite and we should be largely ok with what I can tell. Maybe something ill do later when I find time, kinda dying with my uni thesis the next few weeks. -- 4iamking (talk) 11:45, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Gen 9 Event Thumbnails

Hi, I noticed you were adding thumbnails to pages like Poké Portal News for certain events. Just so you're aware, the "Poke Portal News" news page used in Scarlet and Violet can be accessed via web browser here: https://sv-news.pokemon.co.jp/en/list That should contain thumbnails and event promo images for any Gen 9 event they announce via the in-game news app, and you can swap the "en" part of that URL for other languages like "ja" to see any language specific news posts. Atrius97 (talk) 01:41, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Cool thanks! I didn't know there was a web archive of the news posts:). I was just getting them from the HOME app earlier, but they remove the posts there once the event is over.-- 4iamking (talk) 01:50, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Paldea location pages

First off, I would like to thank you for creating pages for locations in Paldea, for future reference though, the stub template belongs near the bottom of the page, not near the top.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 18:45, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

Thank you!

With it just hitting the 4 month mark since the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, I wanted to take an opportunity to offer a more personal acknowledgment of some of the hard work you've contributed during this incredibly busy period for Bulbapedia. Your work towards expanding the content of item and ingredient pages was a huge help in our coverage this go around. Bulbapedia's continued success as a wiki relies on dedicated and passionate editors such as yourself. So again, thank you and keep up the excellent work! --Pokemaster97 22:10, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

HSP

I was curious as to where this was used as an abbreviation for HGSS Black Star Promos. I don't remember this ever being an abbreviation back in the day, so I'm more inclined to leave the redirect going towards Beginning Set and having the hatnote there. MaverickNate 10:26, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

If you take take the URL of the official deck gallery like here the set code used is "HSP", also competitive sites like limitless use it as the abbreviation for the set -- 4iamking (talk) 11:21, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Ahhh, I see that now. I wouldn't have thought to check the url. Thanks for the info! MaverickNate 11:56, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Poké Ball template

Do you think it'd be possible to make the event distribution template list Hisuian Poké Balls with modern-day counterparts with "(Hisui)" at the back of their names to avoid creating redirects? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:00, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

I still don’t think it’s wrong to have the redirects, “Hisuian Heavy Ball” is the name used officially for example as that’s what the TCG card is called. And there’s no ambiguity as people searching that are going to be looking for that page.-- 4iamking (talk) 16:14, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
