Gold

So long ago I can't remember...

Red

So long ago I can't remember, and the information's been lost anyway as I traded them to Gold but had a different team...

In my experience...

Some hints and tips that I've picked up through playing the various games. They may or may not be recorded elsewhere; some of them I'll have come up with independently, though.

Global Trade Station

To obtain a Spiritomb without trading you have to talk to around 30 people in The Underground. Sounds easy enough, but there aren't any people there to talk to. The other people you meet there are other trainers using the local wireless function of the DS (i.e. The Underground doesn't work over Wi-Fi; it works with people in the same room). Therefore, talking to 30 people can be quite difficult. This also means that Spiritomb are near impossible to obtain unles you can physically get to someone else with a DS and Diamond or Pearl.

Therefore, breed your starter and trade it over the GTS for a Spiritomb. Then breed your new Spiritomb like crazy. You will then have an endless supply of Spiritomb that you will be able to breed for literally any other Pokémon; I had a spare Master Ball that I gave to a Spiritomb to sweeten the deal that I traded for a Palkia!
