Redirects are pages that help you go to the page being redirected. However, due to redirects consuming CPU usage, we have decided to create a redirect policy to reduce the stress our servers been experiencing.

What is a redirect?

These are pages that redirect to the right page you want to read. Redirects are created automatically by moving an article's name to a new name, and old article's name will be a redirect, redirecting to the new name (Staff members can bypass this by moving an article without creating a redirect).

Why are redirects created?

Because as generations passed, some names of trainer classes change. Japanese named characters have their own name in the English dub. Discovering commonly used abbrievations and acronyms in the Internet, and more.

How can you create a redirect?

Redirects are automatically created when articles move to their new name. You can also create a redirect manually, like creating a new article in the mainspace.

How should I know if the redirects created will be used by many people?

If they are abbrievations, Japanese names, old names of Trainer classes, acronyms, then many people may used your new redirect.

Why is my redirect is deleted?

Common reasons are that the redirect you created is unnecessary. Redirects, such as plural names, are unnecessary. Sometimes, you don't need to create a redirect with a name like "Streetpass" because if you searched for an article named with that name, it would automatically redirect to the name "StreetPass", even though there is no redirect named "Streetpass".

Can I create a redirect redirecting to a template?

No, but with some exceptions. For example, a template named {{clear}} is created 2008, but now, another template that is the same with {{clear}} is created, and it is named {{-}}. The staff have decided to make {{clear}} to be a redirect of {{-}}, as there are still other articles using {{clear}}. But however, using the redirect redirecting to a template as a transclusion, is discouraged, as every time you visit an article with a transcluded redirect, it would redirect to the right template. And because of that, there is a risk that a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack will occur. So if you see a transcluded redirect, please fix it by linking it to the right template by editing.

How if I saw a redirect that violates this policy?

You can tag the template with {{delete}}, or {{discussdelete}}, but {{discussdelete}} is preferred, as the staff can decide if the redirect can stay or not.
