Signature Policy

As most of you have probably already noticed, Bulbapedia has a Signature Policy now, and I'm in charge of enforcing it. If you're visiting my talk page here to ask a signature-related question, take a look through this first while I list off the policy rules. :D

The Policy:

 • All signatures will be text-only and not exceed 80 characters on-screen when rendered.
 • No line breaks.
 • The font size of the signature will be no larger than the font size of normal text.
 • No signature templates.
 • A link to the user page, at minimum, and a link to the user talk page is recommended.

NOTES:
Still got questions? Fire away. I check my talk page here fairly often, so you'll get a response quickly enough. Other users might even beat me to it. :D I'm handy with coding as well, so if you have an idea for a new signature but aren't sure how to make it, let me know; I can tell you if it's within the rules, and help you make it.

Newbies!

Hey, i'm new too! Thank you very much for your comments, knowing me i'll buy Pearl... Do we have reviews on here? On my wiki, Simpedia, we have reviews for all The Sims 2 Expansion Packs, etc. Again, thanks for your comments and i'm a Wikiholic too, I'm Celticfan383 on Wikipedia and Nathan, my real name, on Simpedia, our Simpedia server is awful so unless you can suggest a good free server, we're stuck with it, just keep refreshing, lol! ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 19:31, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Let me know your friend code if and when you get Pearl! Mine's on my userpage, of course. And no, I don't think there are any reviews here. But finding an actual review shouldn't be hard (Neoseeker.com is a good place to start, off the top of my head).
Hehe, I play Sims 2... not very often anymore, but I'm still a big fan of the game (too bad it doesn't work on my laptop... my laptop's widescreen, and setting the Sims to play in 1280x768 resolution only affects the UI, not to mention the lack of a mouse wheel gets in the way).
But hey, if you've ever got any more questions about D/P, let me know. -- Jioruji Derako.> 01:48, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Heh! The Sims Stories was designed directly for Laptops... Anyway, i'd like to know, what are the 3 starter pokémon and what are their types? ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 18:43, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, Sims Stories? I'll have to take a look at that one, perhaps.
Alright, starters... I've got a sortable PokéDex on my Start page, just check the Sinnoh section. It's sorted by number by default, so they'll be the top nine Pokémon on the list. Just to note, the Water-starter seems to be popular thanks to the secondary type it gains at the final evolution... I've run into a few of them on the Wi-Fi Battle Tower. Pain in the ass to get rid of those guys... -- Jioruji Derako.> 01:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Just so you know, i always pick the water type! ;P ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 18:52, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Hehe, and I normally pick up the first Dark or Electric-type I find. I've got a level 63 Luxray now. (I got the Grass-type as my starter, but didn't level him up as much.)
The Water-type in this game is pretty good, though! With that Steel-type as well, it completely mixes up all the weaknesses and strengths. Cancels out a lot of Water's biggest problems (adds some new problems, but that's still a good thing). -- Jioruji Derako.> 18:03, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

I win, you fail :P

Just saying hi, PvX is slow, not moving atm, and I actually enjoy playing these games sometimes :). I stopped playing about a year ago, as I get seriously addicted to games (ex:Guild Wars ;). Owned 2 Blue Versions, 1 Yellow (All lost but one Blue :P), 1 Gold, 1 Silver (Brother's now), 1 Crystal (Lost :(), Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald...wondering if I should get Pearl or Diamond, or just break the habit entirely? Tbh...I have spent over 3000+ hours playing these damn games :P. Fun tho. On another note, if I do get the game, I will not get all 3 starts in one game (as I have done the past, what? 7 games O.o...nor level 100 :P. I am the Zerris of Pokemon is appears! lolol) So what do you think of this set :) (favorite types ground, Steel, and Dragon)

 • Garchomp Dragon/Ground Moves: Earthquake, Dragon Rush, Sandstorm. Dig
 • Torterra Grass/Ground Moves: Earthquake, Solarbeam, Synthesis, Sunny Day
 • Skarmory Flying/Steel Moves: Toxic, Fly, Whirlwind, Spikes
 • Spirit Tomb Ghost/Dark Moves: Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Confuse Ray, Shadow Ball
 • Lapris Water/Ice Moves: Ice Beam, Surf, Confuse Ray, Perish Song

Haven't decided on a fire Pokemon yet. Does Camprupt exist? Toxic combination pwns face. Readem 02:21, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Nooo! I finally find a wiki without you on it, and bam! There you are! At least I still have a few more websites to hang out on. *counts on hand and runs out of fingers* :P
Anyways, never realized you played Pokémon... breaking habits sucks. Just buy the friggin' game, man. Then you can go on WiFi and get your ass kicked by Auron! (trust me, it's fun!) Can't say which is better, Pearl or Diamond... the only big difference is the legendary, Palkia or Dialga. There's a few other differences as well, but just a few Pokémon (such as Misdreavus in Pearl, and Murkrow in Diamond).
And just so you know, it's uber-easy to get all three starters in these games. GTS FTW! ...that's the Global Trade Center. Basically, you put a Pokémon up for trade, specify what you want in return, then wait. A day or so later, somebody's traded with you from across the world... I bred my grass starter, put a baby up for trade, and got a baby water starter next time I went on the game. And my brother has the fire starter, so I'll probably make him breed it. Of course, I've got tons of extra baby starters now, so if you want any, send me a WiFi friend code and I can trade some to ya.
Alright, the team looks pretty sweet, by the way. Garchomp makes for a 1337 quaker... Torterra's a nice one as well, what with Synthesis for healing and Solarbeam for attack. The rest look nice as well. And Camerupt is get-able in D/P as well, as far as I know... you might need to trade it over from R/S/E, but it's in there. Might I suggest checking my Sortable PokéDex? 'Tis quite useful for team creation. I still haven't added the Hoenn PokéDex yet, though. -- Jioruji Derako.> 07:29, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Hehe, I beat Battle Frontier with Skarmory and Alakazam. Swampert as runner up. Too bad Alakazam is not as 1337 as he once was :(. Highest Sp.att in the game, and fastest too= win. My Blastoise from Blue could own the Elite Four with struggle! Pretty fun imo. Don't worry, won't be contributing to this wiki much, as people seem to know what they are doing lulz. And Camprupt= bad. Was meaning Torkoal >.<. Toxic on him=ownz. Readem 19:02, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Just started D/P

I've just started Diamond and Pearl (bought both), how do I find out my friend code? (Hi, btw)—Ebany Salmonderiel 10:58, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, let's see now... you just started both games, right? After a certain point, you'll get a key item called the Pal Pad. You might need to get into the lower level of a Pokémon Center to get it (they don't have basements until a certain town, but it comes up quickly). Once you get the Pal Pad, you can use it to add codes, manage codes, and check your own code. Let me know when you get your code, eh?
Oh, and hi. :P -- Jioruji Derako.> 06:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Just Started Diamond

Just started diamond few days ago. Looked for people I knew from other wikis and saw you. Anyways, sorry to sound greedy, but can I get the fire/water starters? My friend code is 4682 6352 2941. If you give me them I will love you for the rest of my life :).Teh Uber Pwnzer 02:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Hahaha, I just got my first shiny, a Zubat while I was EV farming. :).Teh Uber Pwnzer 05:10, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, I think I just got both the other starters... you'll have to wait a bit while I breed them, and however long it'll take to get hooked-up in game, but that aside, it's no big deal. :P
Shiny Zubat eh? Farming speed points, I assume. (I'm not stranger to that process.) I'm still proud of my shiny Wobbuffet, though. Go Go Safari game... -- Jioruji Derako.> 01:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I was going for defense points for my blissey. Killing tons of lvl 8 geodudes. With a base of 10 defense points, it needs them. And lucky you getting that Wobbufett :p. And thanks man. Teh Uber Pwnzer 01:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I haven't been playing Pokémon at all for a while, so it may take a bit for me to dig up my Pokémon; aside from that, breeding isn't hard to do, I've got a stud of a Ditto and he/she just fires them off/out like a machine gun. (try to get that image out of your mind now.)
I'll try my best, though; do you have XFire or MSN/Yahoo messenger? That's a good way to see when I'm online, you can drop me a line that way and we can get synced up on wi-fi in that manner. (it's tough to get connected otherwise, without knowing in advance when someone's online.) -- Jioruji Derako.> 06:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Just got XFire. MSN annoys me and I've never used XFire or Yahoo messenger before. And that image you were telling me to get out of my head wont go away! --Teh Uber Pwnzer 23:10, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Sorry to sound even more greedy, but do you happen to have a male dratini of a preferably high level I could borrow? Or even better a dratini/dragonair/dragonite who already has Outrage? I want to breed it with my female Gible once it gets Outrage. I'd let ya hold my shiny Crobat until I give it back. If you do, and are willing to, thanks. If you don't or arent willing to, its np. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 02:21, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Dratini? Don't think I even have one of those, yet. I'll let you know if I get my hands on one, but I don't think I've got one as of yet. (still have a lot of stuff in Emerald and whatnot.) -- Jioruji Derako.> 21:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Alright, np. I might have one in one of the older games, but it'll be a while till I complete my pokedex. Thanks anyways. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 22:23, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Dratini and other "rare" Pokémon of the sort are always the last ones I catch, barring some excessive amounts of awesome emanating from the Pokémon in question. Generally, I collect Dark-types, sometimes Steel- or Dragon-types as well; unfortunately, the jolly-polly rolly-polly Dragonite doesn't fit into my idea of a kick-ass Dragon-type. (I'm extremely biased towards looks rather then function.) Salamenace, now that's a cool guy. And Garchomp. And Flygon, despite the goggle-eyes. Can't forget Rayquaza, either. -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:26, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I want the Dratini so I can breed a garchomp with Outrage :p. I'm looks biased too. I dont really like dragonite that much, but Outrage is one of the most powerful moves when used right. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 05:38, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
(reset indent): Oh, of course. I use Outrage on my Rayquaza, it's insane on him. Basically reads "The user rampages and instantly kills two or three foes. However, it then becomes confused." -- Jioruji Derako.> 08:56, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I'd use Outrage on Rayquaza too, except I dont have him in Diamond. I also wanna make an all non-legendary team, and Garchomp would be able to use Outrage well. And a quick question: is it possible to see Palkia without trading on Diamond? --Teh Uber Pwnzer 22:43, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
As a matter of fact, it is. There's an old lady in the town you start the game in; she shows you a photo of the other game's Legendary, which counts it as "seen" in your PokéDex. I believe she has the photo for you once you've seen all the other Pokémon, and/or beaten the game. -- Jioruji Derako.> 03:50, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Figured that out like 2 hours after I asked. You can see the photo after you beat/capture Dialga I think. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 22:17, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Omg, I hate myself so much. I accidently just traded a Pokemon that had my Exp. Share on it... --Teh Uber Pwnzer 04:28, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Ugh, the only way I'll be able to get a new one is if I transfer it from Emerald/Saph/LeafGreen/FireRed, and I don't have all 150 Sinnoh Pokemon yet. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 04:31, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
You traded the Exp. Share from Diamond? That sucks.
Luckily, getting all 150 isn't a hard task; you can see every one of them via trainer battles. Look up a FAQ on any old website, and do page searches for the ones you don't have; you can find the trainers that have them that way. -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Still, without the Exp. Share, I'll have just two decent pokemon, the rest of mine pretty much suck. My lvl 60 something Alakazam and my lvl 60 something Torterra are the best ones I have. I guess my Dialga is pretty good too, it has ~220 Sp. Attack at just lvl 50, which is pretty insane(of course it has max Sp. Attack EV's, a Sp. Attack nature and Sp. Attack characteristic. Took forever for me to get the right nature + characteristic combo).
Hah, I actually beat the league with just those 3 + my 3 highest leveled fillers. The league is incredibly easy in this one. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 10:55, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm breeding some gibles with outrage, ya want one? --Teh Uber Pwnzer 03:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

And if so, any characteristic/nature combo you want? --Teh Uber Pwnzer 03:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm? Sure, I'd love one. I still owe you the other starters, I'll make sure to get those bred and hatched for you so I can send them over. Nature isn't a big deal really; let's see, just not one that lowers Physical Attack or raises Special Attack. I'll need Physical Attack to be at least average, and any Special Attack boosts would be wasted on him/her. Aside from that, doesn't matter. Same goes for Characteristics, doesn't matter to me. -- Jioruji Derako.> 04:44, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Heh, I'm going for the perfect one :p. Its taking forever. I have nearly a whole box full already... --Teh Uber Pwnzer 05:44, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I haven't seen a single one with adamant or lonely nature yet, either. --Teh Uber Pwnzer 05:45, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Hehe, I think I've got a box full of Sneasel as well as a small pile of Houndours. Sometimes I'll get Pokémon that breed unnaturally fast, and I'll end up with more eggs then I need... -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:47, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Even worse is breeding a Pokémon with a variable ability. I think I've got a pile of Houndours with the correct Nature and wrong Ability... -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:49, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I just got a female gible with lonely nature, time to start breeding her with an everstone :). --Teh Uber Pwnzer 06:02, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

so i herd...

u had a palkia for meh? :p
In my quest to get every legendary on my diamond, I need palkia (and that's pretty much it, I've got to find out where my celebi went on lg and trade that over). And when Arceus comes out, my collection will be complete!!!11! -Auron 05:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Hmm? I could trade you my Palkia (temporarily) for your Dialgia, which would treat them both as owneded for us, if that's what you mean. :P (although I actually already have a Dialgia in my PokéDex, because my younger brother got Diamond when I got Pearl). -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:54, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, why the hell is half of GuildWiki active and online here? Teh Uber Pwnzer just posted here no more then five minutes ago, and then you show up out of nowere five seconds later. Not to mention, Readem and Gigathrash have accounts here too, now. -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:55, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Because Pokemon is uber? --Teh Uber Pwnzer 06:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Pokémon. The power to draw people together in harmony and happiness! ...But sadly, I must flee this happy gathering. It's 2 A.M. over here, and I don't want to deal with you, Readem, AND Auron all at once. :P -- Jioruji Derako.> 06:03, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Reply

That would actually be a better question for Zhen Lin than me. He knows more than I do about Bulbapedia and why things are the way they are. --PAK Man Talk 02:36, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I'll ask him about it perhaps then, or just direct Dark in the right direction, if he's in the mood to work on little things like that.
Oh, and feel free to just reply on your own page for little things like this... I keep everything I edit in my watchlist, and it's generally simpler to keep discussions all in one spot. At least, that's how I'm used to doing it... is it general practice here to leave replies to the other user's page? I might have to get used to this way if so... -- Jioruji Derako.> 03:00, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

hai

hai, jioruji. Since I've finally gotten Pearl, I decided to come say hi to you. My friend code is 4510 9212 4491, and I'm pretty much a pokemon noob. =] --Edru viransu 19:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Nifty. Do you have my in-game name for Guild Wars, or perhaps you've got XFire? You can bug me on either of those and I'll get hooked up with you in Pearl, it's a pain to meet people any other way. Exactly how noob are you in Pokémon? I can offer general tips and insults if you're really noob... -- Jioruji Derako.> 22:57, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
And btw, I've added you to the list. -- Jioruji Derako.> 04:10, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't think I have your ign on GW, but my friends list is full anyway, and I almost never get on. I've got xfire, though. My username is jinrisenfallen. I've played the pokemon games quite a deal in the past(I have, somewhere, or have had red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, sapphire, and stadium), but I've never really bothered to learn what's gud and such. I didn't even know what EVs were until recently. =] --Edru viransu 04:32, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Alrighty, I'll get you added on XFire right away. You'll never guess my username.
As for what's gud and whatnot, I don't know all that much myself; I'm really good with picking out types and whatnot (in my own opinion), but I don't follow any metagame or anything as far as Pokémon goes. I mainly look up move lists for Pokémon, figure out which moves I want, and train from there. EV training is a new thing for me too, but I've got a bit of a handle on it I think... -- Jioruji Derako.> 05:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Signature test

comment goes here. --File:GEO-logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 17:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Read your Signature Policy thing, very GAH!

It doesn't update! If you were to change that sig page, when someone loads the page, it will just read and show what is on the page. IT DOESN'T UPDATE! It's like a book. It only reads what is on the page, reads the template, shows what's on the template. It never updates. It's like an image. If you were to upload a new version of the same image, the website doesn't update. It just reads the file and shows what is in the file, the image, it doesn't have to update. Again it is like a book, reads the source, and translates the source, Templates and all, and it doesn't have to update. It changes automatically when someone enters the page. Why won't you understand?????PokeManiac102 04:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

You're not understanding how MediaWiki templates work. It's not working merely like a window; it doesn't load directly from the template page when you load a page that has the template on it (if it did, people on slow connections wouldn't even see your signature until it loaded). When the template is changed, the website software loads it on each page it's included on, no matter what. That's what the Job Queue is; you might want to take a look at Wikimedia's article which explains the job queue a bit as well (note the section on "Updating links tables when a template changes").
When you update a template, sometimes other pages will show old versions of the template (rarely). Same with an image sometimes, although that works more like you said; it won't put a strain on the server, because the image link is just that, a link.
If you save this page and view it offline, you'll see your signature is still there. That's because it's still part of this page, not merely being shown through a window to the template page.
Most people don't know how all this works; that's why I'm pushing really hard for this policy. People can cause so much lag, totally without even knowing it... I promise you, I do know at least a little bit of what I'm talking about here. --File:GEO-logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:09, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Jioruji's damn right there, you know. (I know, I know, gotta fix my sig...) So, while I cut myself with a ice cream stick, we'll go to the vc comics thing you better change it. Even Tina and TTE have stopped (as have I)...  OptimatumTalk|08:57 27 Mar 2008
You know what? I'm done arguing, GAH! I don't believe any of you, but I believe Zhen Lin, and what he said, I believe him, so shut up like this never happened, see ya, going to go kill TinaPokeManiac102 14:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Good riddance.  OptimatumTalk|08:46 28 Mar 2008

I can't believe I'm asking this

Is my sig over the limit of the first rule of the signature policy?

<span style="background:#11FF6C;"><span style="border: 3px solid #A8FF8C;">486</span><span style="background:#00FFFF;"><span style="color:#A09FF8;"><big>Poke</big></span><span style="color:#A09FF8;">Maniac</span><span style="color:#A09FF8;"><big>102</big></span></span><span style="border: 3px solid #A8FF8C;">492</span></span>

Just posted about that on Zhen Lin's talk page, actually. Text-only means no images, so you'd need to drop the little sprites, sadly. (I had to sacrifice my little logo too, but no big deal.) I'm not sure about the colored backgrounds, I need Zhen to let me know on that... but I explained more on his talk, and even suggested a smaller signature for ya, take a look and tell me what you think. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 03:23, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh I see, I posted something there after reading what you said. I can remove the images, which will really get rid of almost everything PokeManiac102  03:35, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
yeh, I posted there too. :D
Without the images, you don't need those green backgrounds either, so yeah, that'll be much, much better. So long as Zhen Lin says it's cool to use backgrounds, the blue would be fine. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 03:37, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm getting rid of everything except of the words with their colors, and I found a solution to the normal and ofset thing. I keep the sup and sub words small, and decrease the size of the onset words PokeManiac102  03:38, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
ah, post your siggy here when you finish, I'm curious to see what you come up with now. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 03:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I was going to do that anyway ^^ and It's might still be too long because of the color span thing PokeManiac102  03:44, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Too big? Hmm, here's a nifty trick: <font color=#A09FF8>text</font> works, it's a little shorter too. Maybe give that a try; it's a bit of an outdated code, but still works (I use that in my signature). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 03:48, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
No! Even though I decrease the size of the onset words, the offset words are still larger PokeManiac102  03:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

How's this?PokeManiac102

A little bright, but aside from that it's fine. Only complaint I can think of is the colors make it a little tough to read, but so long as nobody else complains about it, it's fine by me. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 06:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Someone is complaining about it over Aim, TTEchidna. He says that all sigs should only be 1 line long. Mine's 3 linesPokeManiac102 06:58, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm. All the different colors have that effect on the coding...
I would personally agree with TTE, I'd like to see it smaller, if only a little bit. There's nothing in the policy about coding limits, last I checked; the main limit is on "rendered" output (that is, how long it is on the page, not in the code). But having the signature not be longer then the average comment is a big plus.
Do you perhaps have some favorite colors? Maybe narrow the signature down to a few colors; one color for each link would look cool, for example. If you insist on keeping your current signature, it's technically not breaking any rules, even if the bright yellow hurts my eyes. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 07:07, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I just talked to him and he said that 2 lines would be fine. But about 2 inches still exist on the third linePokeManiac102 07:09, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Here... I'm not sure if this will work, but try copy+pasting this code into your Signature field...
<span style=color:red>Po<span style=color:orange>ke<span style=color:gold>Ma<span style=color:green>ni<span style=color:blue>ac<span style=color:purple>102</span>
That's shorter then before... might still be over two lines, but over that limit by only a little bit isn't a big deal. (I also darkened the colors a bit, hope you don't mind.) I'm not sure if the code will work, which is why I want you to test it. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 07:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Shouldn't the <font> work here?  OptimatumTalk|08:46 28 Mar 2008
Font works, only reason I used Span was that you can have... *counts* ...six opening tags, and the one closing tag will work for all of them. In the long run, that might save a bit of text, I think (as opposed to the Font tag, which is shorter, but you need to put a /Font tag at the end of all six colored parts). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 08:48, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I think there might still be some room for trimming. Last post Pokemaniac posted on my talk page took up 8 lines, 6 lines of which was two copies of his sig. - Cassius335 18:08, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Wha? My sig only covers 3 lines. It's short.PokeManiac102 18:11, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Your actual post was 1 line. So every 1 line post you make also takes up 3 lines of space for the sig code. It builds up. - Cassius335 19:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

so

Would this be fine for me? MoldyOrange (It used to be this: Moldy Orange)

Yep, that's fine. Don't see any issues with it. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 06:54, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
What do I have to do to fix it? Do I have to manually fix every one? MoldyOrange 16:40, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Go to your Sig page, and click What links here on the side bar. All those articles that appear, you have to fixPokeManiac102 16:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
All your have to do is, everytime you see , just put subst: in front so it looks like PokeManiac102 16:46, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey, could you change my sig in here with the code in its talk page? Thanks.... Jmath 06:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
And done. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:16, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

O.o

You're an admin? Since when? O.o Optimatum♏Talk|09:24 28 Mar 2008

Since... less then twelve hours ago, I suppose. I'm basically just in charge of the signature policy, though I plan to help out with deletion and stuff when it's needed too. :D Really, the main thing is that I can ban users if they won't change their signatures, but technically, there's no punishment for that yet, so I'm not sure I can even do that. >.> -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 09:26, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
But of course...=) Congratulations anyway. Optimatum♏Talk|09:29 28 Mar 2008
Yeh, thankies. :D
You're one of the more active users here; do you know if Bulbapedia gets vandalism often? I just realized I'm apparently online at some really strange times, so I can catch vandals that the other admins might miss. But I've yet to see one yet. (good thing, of course.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 09:35, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I've reverted most of the recent ones. But we've not suffered any attacks this March, right? Anyway, I believe I caused those JOhnnyRebel attacks after much vandlism on the MapleWiki...=( One guy did threaten to vandlise "my wiki" (not really mine, just the wiki I belong to) Optimatum♏Talk|09:38 28 Mar 2008
Good though, doesn't sound like vandalism's a big problem. Probably only need an admin to do the actual blocking, easy enough to revert everything else...
...two days ago I had to undo the work of a vandal on GuildWiki (other wiki I'm an Admin on). Vandals are sometimes funny; this guy wasn't, because he figured out how much "fun" it was to Move pages to new titles. Any user can un-move, but you need an admin to delete all the leftover pages... took me an hour to delete the 156 pages he moved. >.< (took him half an hour to move them in the first place.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 09:49, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

New Signature

Do I have to get a new signature?

AKgirl12:13, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

YES. Optimatum♏Talk|12:21 28 Mar 2008
As Optimus put it, yes. :D Basically, just remove the images from what you've got now, and don't use a template anymore... get that done and you're all set. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 01:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Siggg

before i begin, i find it appropriate to introduce myself. Hello! i am Magnedeth. you wouldnt know it from my recent contribs, but im a fairly active user. (ive just been a bit distracted recently, thats all) now, with that out of the way, i understand theres a new sig policy, and youre in charge. so, ive come with 3 questions.

 1. the new policy requires no pics/anis. so, being that there is a ban, and youre a (new) admin, could you just delete my Magnemite?
 2. is my sig ok?
 3. ive been using the template, so, what do i do about the thousands of sig templates i have lying around?

also, i was snooping around Talk pages (i do that somtimes, i wont lie) and i saw you saying somthing about vandalls. well, me PN102, and O35 seem to have quite a knack for reverts. down to a science really. now, while im pretty sure some bright young kids are going to answer all my questions before you even see the page, at the very least, Hello! MAGNEDETH 23:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, I've seen your signature here and there, so I know you a bit. I snoop around talk pages a ton as well. :D Anyways, let's see.
 1. I can get rid of the image for you, yes. I'll get that in a moment.
 2. Aside from the image, you're signature's fine; keep in mind, templates are against the rules now, so you'll need to take your signature coding and put it in your Preferences, instead of using User:MAGNEDETH/Sig for it.
 3. As for all the templates already in use; easiest way to fix them is to go to any page that has your signature on it, and replace with . That'll take the contents of your signature template page, and post it right onto the page. As a matter of fact, if you simply add SUBST: to the template like that in your Preferences, you won't even need to delete your /Sig page.
It's a rather big job to manually fix all those signatures, but there's a few easy ways to do it. (I'll post these instructions at the top of my talk page later I think, as a quick-reference.)
 1. Go to Special:Whatlinkshere/User:MAGNEDETH/Sig. That'll list off anything that has your signature in it.
 2. Click to Edit the entire page, press Ctrl+F (to bring up the Search box), search for your signature template, and add the little SUBST: tag in there. Should only take a few clicks when you get it down.
If it's possible, I'll ask Zhen Lin or TTE if we can use BulbaBot to do all this perhaps, but we'll see. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 01:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
P.S.: Your signature's not on thousands of pages, just about 140 (albeit multiple times). So not THAT big of a job. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 01:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
i see. also, ive ALWAYS been using the SUBST in front of my sig in my prefrences. does that make a difference with all the other pages? with that being said, i can keep using ? MAGNEDETH 01:51, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
So long as you use the SUBST:, you can keep using the template; if so though, the rest of the pages using the template will need to be SUBST'd too (so people can't edit the signature and change the whole wiki).
And that reminds me, I didn't fix your sig yet. *goes to fix it*
What do you mean, you've always been using SUBST? From what I can see, if you're using it now, it's not working... -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 04:20, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that he meant, that in his preferences, he put in the nickname, But that won't exactly workPokeManiac102 04:22, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm. It should work, but if it's not, probably easier to avoid it.
Alright; to completely avoid confusion (and make signature editing as simple as possible), here's what I suggest.
MAGENEDETH; go to your signature template page, click the Edit tab ("View Source", whatever). Copy the contents of the box, and paste it into the Nickname field of your Preferences. That will work much easier, nobody else will be able to mess up your signature, and when all your old signatures have been SUBST:'d, it'll be safe to delete the old signature page. Can you do that for me? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 04:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
well damn. i was hoping to keep the templates, in the intrest of HTML cleanliness, but oh well. unlike some people (looks at PM102) my sig broken down isnt overly huge. the sourcing has been done. the SUBST-ing will have to be done tomorrow. MAGNEDETH 04:56, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe we can get a project set up, rather then having users only changing their own signatures... shouldn't be hard to change them all if everyone pitches in a bit. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 05:00, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
well, each user can comb their own talk pages. MAGNEDETH 05:02, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
...I use Word's replacement program (Ctrl+H) Optimatum♏Talk|02:43 30 Mar 2008
I use the browser's Ctrl+F search feature, and just "find next" + "paste" + "find next" + "paste". :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:45, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but Word is much more useful when it comes to pages like TTE's archives. Optimatum♏Talk|02:49 30 Mar 2008
my browser (Firefox, yuck) wont let me search inside the text boxxes. i have to use the untrained eye, and thats why i have to go back every once in a while if i miss one. MAGNEDETH 02:50, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I was using FireFox yesterday so...couldn't do much...Optimatum♏Talk|02:54 30 Mar 2008
Hey, Firefox is awesome! D:
Works just fine for me... you edit the whole page when you're searching, right? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:06, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
yup. but Firefox wont allow me to search inside the edit text boxxes. one of my many gripes about FF. but, i use it because even i know its safer than IE. that and when the search function DOES work, i think its extremely useful. MAGNEDETH 03:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

By the way...

Congratulations on your promotion. --ニョロトノ666 02:11, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Thankies a bunch. Oh, and at this rate, most of my work will be done before I even ask users! *notices your signature* nifty. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 04:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

My Sig

Yeah could you do that? I was about to leave a message here asking you about my new one. Actually, I pressed "Show preview" and then I saw I had a message. Porygon-Z [Sig Not Set Up Yet]

Hehe, I'm bored out of my mind and watching Recent Changes here, so I spotted you adding the delete tag. I'll get right to work on that, hopefully it's not a huge job. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 05:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
It's not, I checked earlier! Porygon-Z
TEST...yay works! Porygon-Z 05:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Nifty. I'm just going to get started adding SUBST: to all your old signatures; that should update everything and make the template safe for deletion. If you're in the mood to help out a bit, just replace any instance of with . -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 05:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
You can leave some and I will do them tomorrow...I don't want to make you do all the work. But it's 3 am, so see ya! Porygon-Z 05:34, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll just do as many as I can for now, until I get bored. Going through all these talk pages will also help me find other templates to fix. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 05:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
How do I do it again? By the way, that is some of the coolest wiki code I have ever seen. Porygon-Z 16:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
How do you replace the signatures, you mean?
It's not too hard; go to Special:Whatlinkshere/User:Porygon-Z/Sig, you'll see a list of pages with "inclusion" next to them. That's all the pages that have your signature on them. Just hit edit, search for and replace it with . (the trick I use is Ctrl+F to search for the template, and have the replacement copied and ready to paste in.)
...which coding do you think is cool? :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:12, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
The stuff right up top. Porygon-Z 05:20, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, yes. :D I learned the "new messages" code from a friend, and added my own colors to it. And the rest is just the general color scheme I use on my pages. Feel free to steal bits of it if you like, I'm sure you can figure out how to change the colors too. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:23, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Te he I bet I can :P ! When I can edit my userpage again I might use it somewhere. I gotta go, I plan to fix my sig stuff tomorrow, but a question for the morning, if my sig template is on a page multiple times, do I need to replace every one? Porygon-Z 05:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, each one needs to be fixed. If you want to wait a bit, Zhen Lin might let us use Bulbabot to do all the work for us... most important thing at the moment, in my opinion, is finding users with signatures that need to be fixed... -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:29, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I used that code here, thanks alot! Porygon-Z 17:49, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Your Sig

oh the irony, me, tell you about your sig! its not a big deal, but, i was just wondering why you dont link your talk page in your signature? somthing like:

Sig Image?

Hi, um... I'm a new user, and I was just starting to consider my sig when the tests started. I have just designed a sig image in Photoshop (nothing fancy, just my name), and I was giong to use that for my sig. I made it 19 or whatever px high (text size), so could I use only that image for my sig? If not, I could do something else. (btw, congrats.) -Theininen 01:03, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Images are completely disallowed, unfortunately; you'll have to work out something else. Don't forget that you can change fonts form signatures, so you might be able to get close to the image with text alone... so long as the font's not too fancy, people should have it installed. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:02, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Welcome

i think we should add elements of the new sig policy into the welcome template. MAGNEDETH 04:12, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Might be good; do we have a signature policy page yet? We could add a link to that if we do... -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:33, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
O Cool way you put it. But I guess we need Zhen's permit to make the policy page, no? Optimatum♏Talk|06:13 30 Mar 2008
Yeh, him or TTE I guess? I'll ask Zhen Lin if I can make it myself, and if he could tell me where exactly to put it. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

I need it to link to my page, and the images need to be . . . removed. I can't figure out how. Oh, and I would like "Deadly" to link to my user page, and "methane" to link to my talk page. (I would sign this, but I assume that you know who I am.)

Thank you! --Deadlymethane

Zeal's New Sig

Here ya go User talk:Zeal/Sig > New Sig. If you could just update the existing template there (only on 3 pages) and i'll change my preferences to point directly there so it's always subst'ed. Thanks. --User:Zeal/Sig 01:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
