Suede's Pokémon Journey is an ongoing YouTube review series of the Pokémon anime by the anime reviewer known as Suede (real name William DuFresne) from New Zealand, started in August 2016 in celebration of Pokémon's 20th anniversary. Its original objective was to review one episode per week for a year from the first season of the anime, which it succeeded in, but has also continued well past that point. This is a list all the episode reviewed by Suede so far and the ratings he has given to them.
At the end of each review, Suede credits Bulbapedia and Dogasu's Backpack as his main sources of information.
On January 25, 2022, ShoPro sent Suede a court complaint regarding Suede's Pokémon Journeys, blocking many of his Journeys videos. On February 2, 2022, Suede removed every Pokémon video on his YouTube and Patreon channels.
On June 26, 2022, Suede made an announcement that, since his channel hadn't been blocked in three months following the court complaint, he would start a remake of the review series using paper dolls, titled "Suede's Papermon Journey." The first episode of this remake series aired on July 8, 2022.
In March 2023, Suede reposted all the review videos to his Patreon channel to be viewed for free. Once all episode reviews had been reposted, he started posting new reviews behind a paywall, which later became free to watch.
Rating system
From Pokémon - I Choose You! to Make Room for Gloom (including Holiday Hi-Jynx, Snow Way Out!, and the Pokémon Origins episodes), Suede rated the episodes with a grade ranging from A to F, with pluses or minuses added when necessary. From Lights, Camera, Quack-tion onwards, he has adopted a new rating system, mostly based on different kinds of Poké Balls. Older main series ratings were subsequently converted to match this new rating system.
