David's Aipom was the first Pokémon obtained by David on his journey as a Pokémon Trainer. Its universal voice actress is 大谷育江 Ikue Ohtani. However, in some episodes during the first season of the English dub, Veronica Taylor provided its voice when the original Japanese track couldn't be saved.
Anime
In the First episode David ran to Professor Oak's Lab at 8am waiting for his starter Pokémon. However, David's father didnt want him to start with Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. So he recieved an Aipom. As counter to Ash's Pikachu who didnt like him very much, Aipom taken to David very quickly and smashed its pokéball becuase it was very eager to play catch.
