On August 26, 2001, a slightly altered version of this product was given to players at the 2001 Tropical Mega Battle. VS and the Darkness Energy were replaced by the P Promotional cards print of P Promo. Each player received the Half Deck in their native language; there were 12 in Japanese, six in English, and one each in Danish, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, and Swedish. The cards were produced by MEDIAFACTORY, the company that produced the cards in Japanese, instead of by Wizards of the Coast, so they retained Japanese placings and font styles. During the three rounds at the Tropical Mega Battle, it was revealed that the English print of Tyranitar had a misprint on it, which caused the first round to be replayed. The Half Deck was later given away at the 2002 World Championships with the error fixed.
