The '''Pokémon Tropical Mega Battle''' was a [[Pokémon Trading Card Game|TCG]] tournament that took place every year between 1999 through 2001 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in {{wp|Honolulu}}, Hawaii. This event was a battle between the best players from {{pmin|Canada}}, {{pmin|Latin America}}, Europe, {{pmin|the United States}}, and Japan. Approximately 50 players attended the event each year. A {{DL|Play! Pokémon|TCG Premier Events|tournament}} structure was adopted in mid-2001 which lead to the first of what become the annual [[World Championships]]. 1st place prize that year was an invite to which replaced the Tropical Mega Battle 2002, the final Tropical Mega Battle to take place, with it's legacy being replaced by the formalized Worlds. However, because of license disputes between Wizards and Nintendo, there was neither Worlds nor Tropical Mega Battle in 2003.
