Pokémon Method
User First Used In Notes
Dodrio opens its beaks and positions its heads so each beak becomes a corner in the shape of a triangle. An orb of energy then forms inside Dodrio's beaks, the right one colored green, the top one indigo and the left one red. A red triangle then forms in between the orbs. Once the triangle starts to turn indigo, Dodrio fires the triangle at the opponent.
Falkner's Dodrio Fighting Flyer with Fire Debut
The three screws on Magneton's body glow white, and the white energy connects, forming a triangle. Magneton then shoots the white triangle at the opponent.
Jackson's Magneton Tie One On! None
Hydreigon opens the mouths on its three heads and charges an orb of energy before each of them, all with different colors. It then fires an Ice Beam from the left arm head, a Flamethrower from the middle head, and a Thunderbolt from the right arm head.

Trivia

  • Though many Pokémon whose design incorporates three heads learn this move, neither Exeggutor nor Combee can learn the move; Combee's case may be due to evolving into a Pokémon that does not have three heads.
    • It should be noted that in the anime, the heads must face the same direction in order to execute the attack. In Exeggutor's case, it is nearly impossible for all of the heads to face the same direction.
  • Tri Attack is one of the two non-Ice-type moves that can freeze the target, the other being Secret Power. Coincidentally, both of these moves are Normal-type.
  • No Generation III Pokémon can learn this move.
