The PokéGym
The PokéGym is one of the original online Pokémon Trading Card Game strategy websites. It was created in 1999 by Brian Brokaw as part of The Psylum Network. After Brian left in the same year, Tyais took it over and stayed with it until around 2002.
In 2001, The Psylum Network was shut down by USA Network, who had recently bought the network, leaving The PokéGym without a home. Wizards of the Coast agreed to take over the forums and used it as a foundation to start the Wizard Community message board system. The PokéGym was renamed The Wizards' PokéGym.
When Wizards of the Coast lost the Pokémon TCG license in 2003, ownership of the PokéGym forums were transferred to Team Compendium, who presently run the forum to this day. The Compendium is linked to from PokéGym.
The PokéGym publishes content relating to the Trading Card Game. It releases the Frequently Asked Questions document for each set, which is otherwise only sent to Play! Pokémon stores. A variety of posts are made relating to rules clarifications and judging guidelines, which are relevant to Professors and Judges. There are lists of every card legal to play in the Standard or Expanded formats, including cards released in non-Standard or Expanded legal sets that are legal to play in those formats due to a more recent reprint. Formerly, it provided a set of scans for every released card at a subsite called the Researching Tower, but this has been discontinued as of Lost Thunder. A interactive decklist builder is also hosted on the site, but it too has been discontinued.
The PokéGym creates the PokePopCast, a podcast which covers topics relating to the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
