Edit requests

  1. Change "Talk Page Comments" to "Talk page comments" since the former is title case (which we don't use).
  2. Get rid of the dashes from the auto-signing. If people want dashes in their signature, they'll put 'em in themselves. --Chocolate (talk to me) 14:07, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
The template is meant to be used on user talk pages. "Title case is bad" is a policy meant only for encyclopedic pages; one could care less if a section title uses title case on a talk page.
Additionally, Template:Welcome and pretty much all other autosigning templates have the leading dashes for the signature. Leading dashes are a precedent on autosigning templates, and we'd rather not risk server downtime getting rid of them to satisfy one person's ambitions. --Shiningpikablu252 14:24, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, thing is, I already have dashes in my signature, so if I use this template, I'll end up with four dashes instead of two. --Chocolate (talk to me) 14:29, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
There isn't a problem with having four... if it bothers you so much, Baby g, then remove the two dashes from your preferences, or avoid using templates with autosignatures altogether. MoldyOrange 14:50, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
All right, I will. --Chocolate (talk to me) 14:51, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

New version

I have made a new version of this template.

=={{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>#switch: {{{1|0}}}|0=Talk page comments|1=Second warning|2=Last warning}}== {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>#switch: {{{1|0}}}|0=Please do not erase comments from your talk page. {{u|Big Johnno|This user}} was previously blocked for erasing talk page comments, and you do '''not''' want that to happen to you.|1=Please do not erase comments from your talk page, or you will be blocked. This is the second time you have been told this.|2=This is your final warning. If you continue to erase comments from your talk page, you '''will''' be blocked.}} ~~<includeonly>~~</includeonly> NOTE TO USERS OF THE TEMPLATE: ALWAYS CALL IT WITH {{code|subst:}}, so that what appears on the page is <code><nowiki>{{subst:TPCD}}. No need to sign, even! Chocolate automated it. Category:Warning templates</nowiki>

Notice how it allows you to switch the level of the warnings, like this template. Can an admin please make the template look like my version? Just copy and paste the code, but remember to remove the nowiki tags. Chocolate 02:57, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Big Johnno part

This is a little insulting to the user; can't it be replaced with something else? I checked the block log, and it didn't include a Big Johnno, anyway. Bulbapedian - Talk 17:30, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Big Johnno is an example of a user that blatently disregarded the rules. He was blocked sooooooooooo long ago that he doesn't appear in the log anymore.--RexRacer -talk 17:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Was that a permanent block? Never heard of him after that. Jmath 18:45, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

This template

I'm also uncomfy about calling out a user, as mentioned earlier. This template is going to be used almost exclusively on new users and it's too threatening, and not at all helpful/encouraging/"hey, heads up, please don't do that." I think we should rewrite it. -- evkl (need to talk?) 17:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Seconded. If you admins don't mind, I could try to write a better one, unless you want to do this yourselves. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:17, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

"Please don't erase talk page comments, as they are meant to remind and/or inform users of a certain situation. There have been problems before where users get into edit wars with sysops and end up getting themselves blocked. You're not in trouble, this is just a heads up. Thanks!"

That sounds a bit cheesy though... R.A. Hunter Blade 17:20, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I would do something like this -

Please do not erase any of your talk page comments. Talk page policy requires all users to save all comments made on their talk page. Thanks!

But, again, we can work something out. -- evkl (need to talk?) 17:23, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Since I don't have a final say in this, good luck with it. Hopefully we don't have to use it much untill it gets changed, if if does. R.A. Hunter Blade 17:29, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
My suggestion:

==Talk page comments==
Hello! You may not be aware of this yet, but removing talk page comments, including the initial welcome template, is prohibited per Bulbapedia's Talk page policy. Please refrain from removing any comments in the future. If you wish to clean old comments away, you should archive your talk page instead. Thank you! ~~~~

What do you think? UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:39, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Made a few minor edits, but it's better than the one I cooked up with Kogs. Thanks! -- evkl (need to talk?) 17:50, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
