It seems that if you breed two 'chus together, then either gender can hold the Light Ball. In Gen IV (Diamond) I breed a male Pikachu w/ Light Ball and a female Pikachu and the resulting Pichu had Volt Tackle. The above method with Ditto would work because the Ditto would count as a Pikachu. Anyone else able to confirm this as well (especially in later Gen IV games and Gen V)?
