Forest In G/S/C

In Generation II, does the forest exist? I thought that only tree stumps could be found here

Tag please - I'll look into it. *boots up Gameboy* I'm pretty sure it's treestumps and patches of grass there in GSC. -Fragment 14:13, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, in GSC, it's just a smaller, narrower version of its former self. The forest is part of Route 2 now. Pikachu can be found in Route 2's grasses now, because the forest has no grass anymore. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 11:37, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Sad BOO HOO

Pidgeotto in Yellow

1%?! REALLY? Someone ought to look that up, see if it's true. If it is, though, that would explain a lot. Like why I only found three Pidgeotto in the scope of two hours! - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 11:37, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

That's what I've seen on multiple fansites and strategy guides for years and years. I just emulated Yellow recently, and with the speed up button I was able to play what the game figured was 4 hours in the spance of an hour (spent going back and forth between Viridian Forest and the Pokémon Center at Viridian City to heal PP). Over those four game hours, I found only one Pidgeotto (which I caught). It really is an intensely low percentage. Think about it - Pidgeotto aren't supposed to evolve until level 18. So finding a level 9 one is practically unbelievable. So yeah, it's 1%, I'm almost certain of it, based on both my gameplay (I was actually worried I would get so strong with all my Pokémon that I would KO it before I could catch it), and based on memories from sites and guide books. Of course, only hacking the game could get the 100% confirmation of that 1% chance validity. Satosuke 02:15, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Fire red leaf green

The pokemon persentages add up to 65% on those games I cant really do anything about it. where is the source for the presectages? - unsigned comment from Ty Boyd (talkcontribs)

Noctowl in HGSS

I was in Viridian Forest and found an underleveled Noctowl, it was level 7, should this be in the trivia section? (it's also in the Pokémon section in the article) Alexjuuhh 12:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

As long as it's listed in the wild Pokémon list it shold be fine. Underleveled Pokémon are actually quite common, so there isn't really a need to put it in the trivia section. Werdnae (talk) 20:24, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Ariados

The HG pokédex says that you can find Ariados in Viridan Forest, can anybody get a percentage for this or is it false? - unsigned comment from Christophski (talkcontribs)

I believe you can find it there—in headbutt trees. Unfortunately, we don't have Pokémon and their encounter rates for headbutt trees on location pages (yet), so it'll be hard to add to the page. --AndyPKMN 21:53, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
You can, but there's only one headbutt tree in Viridian. I caught one around level 5. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 22:00, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Pikachu availability from Gen I to Gen III

I noticed that in Pikachu's page it says that it's "uncommon" in Red/Blue and "rare" in LeafGreen/FireRed, however here on the location page, both generations claim "5%" - isn't that inconsistent?

I don't know where the people get these numbers but, from personal experience, after walking around for about half an hour, I can find a Pikachu or two in Red or Blue, but after one hour, I couldn't find a single Pikachu in LeafGreen (haven't tried FireRed yet). This leads me to believe that the Pikachu page is right, and the Viridian Forest (this one) is wrong... Pikachu's are either non-existant or should be about 1% (definitely not 5%) in the 3rd generation games. Raven-14 13:41, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

I think we should go by the actual page for Pikachu, seeing as that should be more reliable. If you would care to update it, please do. If anyone disagrees, please post a reply. Thanks!

110%

The appearance rates for the Headbutt section of the Generation IV Pokémon list adds up to 110% for both HeartGold and SoulSilver. Is this accurate? Intentional? PhantomJunkie 05:00, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Celebi?

In the daytime and evening eycatch isnt it a celebi in the trees NOT a Pikachu? - unsigned comment from Emeraldben (talkcontribs)

I don't think Celebi has lighting-shaped tail...--Den Zen 12:35, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I just saw it, but it does look a bit like a shadow of a celebi from the side Emeraldben 12:45, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Musical similarity

Is it just me or the Silph Co. theme song makes a brief reference to the Viridian Forest theme song? Does anyone knows anything about that? Can't remember where, but i read that one of the first things finished on the Generation I games was the music. Could one of the BGMs be originally intended for something else? Viridian Forest... isn't a forest?

I was playing through yellow a long time ago and wondered why the boarders were black. Usually in the overworld the terrain objects like trees are just repeated infinitely, but not for Viridian Forest. The only other place where the boarders are all black is inside of rooms. So that brought me to this question: What if Viridian Forest is coded into the game as a room? This theory would be supported by the fact that you can not fly to or from it, just as if inside. I don't know, maybe it was done on purpose to suggest there are trees blocking the sunlight out overhead... but I just thought I'd point it out. Please let me know if you have any thoughts about this.

Antidote in Yellow

I was recently playing in the game and noticed an error on the page. According to the page there is no hidden antidote in the tree to the left of the first NPC, but I checked (mostly out of reflex of playing FireRed) and there is one there.

It looks like it used to be on the page, but was accidentally removed when reorganizing the items. I'll restore it. --SnorlaxMonster 15:01, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Tiles without encounters in Gen 1

So, a speedrunner found this [1]. Any intention to add this to the page? I don't know where it would go. --Tom0027 (talk) 09:56, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

First, we'd need to be sure it's unique to Viridian Forest. If it's not, it certainly doesn't belong here. If it is...I have to say, it's not something I think is very important, but I also can't say it wouldn't belong at all. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:30, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
I dunno, I know I would've liked to know this if I went to check a wiki page about this place, especially now that Gen 1 has been rereleased. If nowhere else, then at least in the Trivia section. (Even if it isn't unique to Viridian Forest, it could use a bullet that'd go something like "Viridian Forest is one of X places with (...)") --Tom0027 (talk) 17:48, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
It's super niche. The games aren't really about avoiding battles... Most people don't care. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:54, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
I don't think that's fair. It's like saying that because the games aren't about glitches they shouldn't be mentioned; glitches are mentioned in other pages and I think it's valuable information. And I believe avoiding battles altogether in certain locations is not as minor as you claim it is. (I also believe that after a certain amount of time playing this series, avoiding battles does start becoming more fun than mashing A to get through them, but that's neither here nor there...) --Tom0027 (talk) 18:28, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
Let's just keep this simple. First figure out if it's unique to Viridian Forest. Then we can argue about what's best when we know that. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:33, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
Agreed. Besides, the indentation is getting out of hand. --Tom0027 (talk) 18:35, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

Seedot/Shroomish

Are you supposed to be able to find Seedot or Shroomish in any headbuttable trees in Viridian Forest in HGSS? Or is there specific trees like in most areas with Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokemon in trees? Voltdetector (talk) 21:30, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Headbutt % in HG/SS

I have noticed that the percentages for headbutting for both HG/SS add up to 110%, rather than 100%. Does someone know what the actual percentages are for Pokémon encountered via headbutt in these games?
