Kongpang

Kongpang? Isn't it written out "Konpan"? - unsigned comment from Blackjack Gabbiani (talkcontribs)

Don't ask me, the GameFreak romanisers seem a little insane at times - 振霖T 07:11, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

What does it mean anyway?--Pokencyclopedia 11:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Flash

Under the "By TM/HM" section, it says that Venonat can learn Flash in Generation II, however, when I attempted to teach my Venonat Flash on Silver, it wouldn't let me do it because "Venonat is not compatible with Flash. It can not learn Flash." 3190 11:35, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Triva

An edit for the "Trivia" section: Venonat was originally going to evolve into Butterfree.- unsigned comment from StarLeged (talkcontribs)

Proof?--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 23:27, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Proof is definitely needed but if it is true it is obvious by its design - they both have similar (nose/mouth)s, eyes, colouring, hands, antennae, and even feet. If it's not true it should definitely be noted that they share many features with Butterfree and barely any with Venomoth --Woodland:M 11:41, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Hyper Beam

According to Veekun.com, Venonat can learn Hyper Beam in generations 1 and 2. According to Serebii.net, it can learn Hyper Beam in generation 1 only. Here, it can't learn Hyper Beam. --Raijinili 03:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Oops. Veekun says Venonat can learn it in generation 1 only. --Raijinili 04:20, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Venonat wings?

I was reading my "The Official Pokémon Handbook" by Maria S. Barbo and it says that "The bug-like Venonat eats insects and lives in the shadows and branches of tall tress. At night it likes to fly near bright lights." I don't think it can fly, it has no apparent wings. Opinions? Rpp 20:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Neither does Doduo, but they keep that info in there. I think its to comment its "nat" nature. Anyway Its not like The creators of Pokemon haven't made these mistakes before. [[User:Xanhawk|Xanhawk] 23:05 Dec 21, 2008

Butterfree

The Venonat-Butterfree similarities triva was deleted because it's speculation. But isn't it at least note-worthy that the two share many visual characteristics? Bulbajer 02:00, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

I agree, since they share strikingly similar eyes, body color, antennas, "mouth" and "hands". Regardless of being originally evolution-related or not, these similarities seems to be kinda notable for me. RikkiKitsune 17:50, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't think Venonat is a 'gnat'

“Venonat is most likely based on a gnome, a mythical creature from around the European renaissance or similar creature such as an elf, which are short, usually nocturnal, bipedal creatures of the grassland thought to have magical powers who are also somewhat shy and withdrawn from humans. In contrast to the "-nat" at the end of its name, it does not seem physically reminiscent of a gnat in any way, as such animals are only millimeters long in length, have wings and don't eat other insects.”

That's what I was gonna put in the origin section before I thought "screw it, they'll just revert it anyway, even though saying it's based on one of these tiny, fur-less, WINGED things that swarm as opposed to being solitary doesn't make any sense at all". By the way, I haven't found any evidence of a gnat that eats insects, like Veno"gnat" does. Oh, and gnomes have only been lawn ornaments the last half century. Vemoth 18:55, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

What is it?

If it does not resemble a gnat in any way, shape, or form, then what the heaven is it? Origami is math for the hands. -Martin Grant, MathPath 17:49, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Naming

In the naming section, it states that the Japanese name refers "to it's appearance and ability", but this could not be true. Abilities didn't exist when Venonat was created, so that should definitely be removed... SpearBeedrill 03:50, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
