Merge

Well,I know that this glitch may seems invented, but it's not . It's uncommon ,but isn't invented . You can find more articles about this glitch simply typing "Trainer's house glitch" in Google.--Glitchchampion 07:35, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

The internet does seem to agree, (then again it also gave us Sky Forme Shaymin ahead of schedule and many pointless hours lifting trucks), I support a move. I would support a merge only if the alternative was deletion. I do not support complete deletion. Glitchchampion could you please clarify whether the glitched trainer can be defeated? You've said contradictory things in the middle paragraph. Or I may have misunderstood. Thank you for your time--Beligaronia (talk) 09:35, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure if the glitched trainer can be defeated or not , but I think not . Each time I fought him he sent out a level 0 primeape and my game freezed, anyway I've heard of some players that reported a level 1 pidgey, for example, as first pokemon sent out by the opponent or, too, a pokemon level 255 with the PKMNTrainer sprite. I guess that until a lv. 0 pokemon isn't sent out, the battle continues. But I've never see the end of the fight. I know that reading the garbled messages there's

a little possibility that the opponent changes his team. But it's never happened to me. I think that this glitch it's too weird to be ignored so I'd support the merge, instead of the deletion. I've some photos of this glitch, I'll try to post them --Glitchchampion 12:23, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

I certainly have heard about this happening before, though there's not the cause mentioned. OwnageMuch 04:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
This seems legit to me, though it needs more information on how the glitch is actually caused. Also, I kind of feel like this should be merged into List of minor glitches. I don't believe it should be deleted, though, this does look legit. --ZestyCactus 05:05, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I also think that it should be merged into list of minor glitches (along with the Roaming IV glitch). --SnorlaxMonster 12:33, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I've just added some informations about the causes of this glitch, some particularities and the reason because the messages are written by Green. I think that now this page is interesting. It shouldn't be deleted.--Glitchchampion 16:22, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I think it should not be deleted because it has a lot of information and it is interesting!--Dbeckelheimer6 01:09, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
I've deleted the two pictures, they weren't enough clear I suppose. Unfortunately , it's impossible to replicate this glitch with an emulator.. but what else can I write to improve the page?--Glitchchampion 09:18, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
It's not really what's missing, it's what's there. Currently it is not structured very well, and there are stil numerous cases of "trainer" instead of "Trainer". Basically, it doesn't follow the MOS. Besides, this is only a minor glitch, so it doesn't really deserve its own page. --SnorlaxMonster 10:55, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Fixed up the page as much as I can, studying this before but I agree, if we have "Hall of Fame glitch" in list of minor glitches we should also include Trainer House glitch. --Chickasaurus 16:31, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Now this article seems big enough to merit its own page. The Hall of Fame glitch gets a mention on Missingno.'s page too, and there is less to it than this. --SnorlaxMonster 12:24, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello again and thanks for your help. I'm glad to see that the page is grown and that now is well structured. I've just modified one thing: the message "Waiting" is not related with the Pokémon sent out by the glitched Trainer, and the Pokémon called "?????" isn't the famous glitched Pokémon of Generation II. It can be any Pokémon but with a series of "?" instead of its name.Anyway I'm still looking everywhere for any pictures of this glitch.--Glitchchampion 15:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
A clarification:The glitched messages are never signed by MOM or by the name of the rival, but always by GREEN. MOM or the name of the rival can only be used as the text of the message but never as signature. Maybe before I've written misleading things , but I'm sure of this--Glitchchampion 12:45, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

The image is OBVIOUSLY fake

Come on, guys. The image showing that the glitched Pokemon Trainer has no name is obviously fake. You can even see the trace of Paint's eraser to erase the name. If that image is fake, probably the whole glitch is.

I think that without further proof, this article should be deleted. --Dr. James (tell me) 07:08, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Do you have proof it is fake? The fact that the image is not standard size might be due to it being taken from a video. If you have proof that the image is fake by proving it yourself, go for it. Until then, the page is staying. --CoolPikachu! 07:57, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
When a string of text is too large for the dialogue box without a line break, the letters cut through it. See here and here. --Chickasaurus 10:55, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
No, guys, you didn't understand. I meant this image:

According to the glitch, the trainer presents himself without name, as seen in the image. But in the image you can clearly see that Paint's eraser has been used to erase the name (that area is whiter, if you notice). So that image is obviously make, made in Paint. --Dr. James (tell me) 06:52, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Chances are that the uploader just took a screenshot and erased the Trainer name for privacy reasons/figured that the name was not relevant. To fix this problem, I have taken a screenshot from one of those videos and have just uploaded it over the top of that image. --SnorlaxMonster 07:06, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Well that's better, now the image isn't fake. I don't see the video though. Thanks for clarifying! --Dr. James (tell me) 07:18, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
You can't see either of the videos Chickasaurus linked to? In fact, I think I'll put one of them in the article. Also, I'm going to update the other image too—it seems to have a part erased too. --SnorlaxMonster 07:22, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Ah no! I thought you meant the videos were already in the article. But yes, they should be there. --Dr. James (tell me) 07:29, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

What happened? Now the image has been deleted. --Dr. James (tell me) 09:10, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

The old image was, yes. I uploaded them as PNGs instead of JPGs, since PNG has a much better quality than JPG, and my screenshots were in PNG to begin with. --SnorlaxMonster 12:25, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
The word "fake",in my opinion, it's excessive. I had captured this picture from the only one video available and I had deleted the name Thomas because I couldn't be sure about the name of this trainer (and it's not very important, after all). In my version, he hadn't a name as in the most of reports on the web. I have no idea if the name is triggered by something, there are only rumors. I hope that this image will be better --Glitchchampion 16:06, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

About the name of the trainer (Thomas)

I have an idea about the why of that name. Since that variant of the glitch occurs when the player adjusts the game's time, couldn't Thomas be an acronym? T= Time HO= Hours M= Minutes A= And S= Seconds... Maybe it's just a coincidence but in my opinion it's quite strange. What do you think about? --Glitchchampion 17:40, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Real way to perform the glitch

There is a REAL way to perform the Trainer house glitch in Pokémon Crystal, although somewhat strange. Here's how the glitch is performed. go to the area of water directly beside the house of the guy who gives you a berry right before Mr. Pokémon's house. use the Super Rod to catch a LV. 40 Poliwag. Fly directly to the player's house and Surf to Kanto. When you reach the land, Fly directly to Viridian City. Go to the Pokémon Center and heal your Pokémon. Before you leave, make sure the Poliwag is holding a PP UP. Go directly to the Trainer House and request a battle. She will tell you that TRAINERGREENTMTRAINERGREENTRAINERGREE is your opponent today. before battle, he will say "I came all this way just to battle you." When you battle, the textbox will say TRAINERGREENTMTRAINERGREENTRAINERGREE wants to battle, causing you to press A several times. You will normally send out your own Pokémon and, for example, Typhlosion will perform its cry. afterward your opponent will send out a LV.0 Primeape, which will perform its cry and stomping movement. After that the textbox disappears and the game locks up while the battle theme is still playing normally. If you don't give the Poliwag a PP UP or if it isn't LV.40, the battle will continue normally and nothing glitchy will happen. doing this repeatedly may cause the Trainer House to fail to work, usually causing the game to crash when a battle is requested, making it completely unusable. Whe performed the game will ALWAYS crash when the opponent's Pokémon is sent out for battle and you will have to reset the game. on occasion, the game can crash at almost any time randomly, displaying the message "This Game Pak is only intended for use on Gameboy Color." with "Pokémon CRYSTAL" spelled by Unown at the top of the screen. - unsigned comment from Shadowpikachu (talkcontribs)

I've tested this method to check if it worked, but nothing happened, because the Trainer House data in the RAM is not modified during the procedure. Also, since the glitch Trainer is named "GREEN" and has a level 0 Primeape, the Trainer House data should be filled with the bytes "00" and "39", which are known to appear in the memory after an unexpected game reset or crash (as sometimes happens displaying a glitch Unown) This implies that this procedure should end up causing an error in the memory, and it doesn't.Considering that the last part of the description is possible, maybe the game where this happened was already affected by the glitch, or it was triggered by something else.--Glitchchampion 18:31, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
While the bit about Poliwag is foreign to me, my game has been doing some of these symptoms - the apparently random crashing and GBC message and, of course, the screwed up Trainer House. I'd like to figure out why this is happening, because my last save file got corrupted but this file has done only two cloning glitches which I'd done several times before without consequence. Also, my game is displaying a lot of these quirks - the overleveled pokemon (lv215 Octillery with Megahorn and Bone Club) and an illegitimate named trainer in the Trainer House, an abundance of decorations (about which I'm not really complaining) and one oddity involving Pokemon Stadium 2 - the mystery gift girl refuses to participate with me on the grounds that "you can only mystery gift with 5 people a day" when I have not mystery gifted with anyone. I've not done any tweaking or exploiting on this file with the exception of two cloning glitches that went just fine, so I'm a bit curious as to why this even began and if there is a way to fix it. Mundane40000 02:50, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
The Trainer House glitch can be activated when the player triggers an error while is playing, sometimes this happens during the cloning

glitch, especially if the cartridge's battery is old: turning off while saving may corrupt the saved file, even if the clonation is successful. Depending on the wrong values which are overwritten in the RAM, a glitch Trainer (usually with a strange name) will appear with Pokémon over level 100 and all the decorations will be unlocked. I'm not sure about Pokémon Stadium 2, but maybe the value in the memory associated to the number of Mystery Gift received is replaced with a value much greater than 5 by the glitch. If appears the message "This Game Pak is only intended for use on Gameboy Color.",it means that the game is entering a glitch dimension due to an unknown error. The only way that I know to fix this glitch is to start a new game.--Glitchchampion 12:52, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
