I think that how the pokémons are spawned needs a little bit more explanation. When walking in tall grass (or any other area where a pokémon can spawn), what decides when a pokémon and which pokémon will spawn? I doubt that the formula provided on the page does it all. -- [[User:Stoo|Stoo]] 04:06, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

:I know the previous post was a LONG time ago, but no one responded so I wanted to add to it. I don't buy it lol. Having a formula makes it look all professional and convincing but it is obviously wrong. In Pokemon FireRed you get an encounter about 1/15 of the time you step on a tall grass tile and in Black and White it is like 1/3 or 1/5 on the high end. Obviously they don't all use the same formula. Additionally, if you run away from a fight then you will get another encounter sooner. I know some people say this is a self fulfilling prophecy and not reality but it is, test it. It also SEEMS LIKE you get encounters sooner when riding a bike. Basically I am just saying that simple formula doesn't encompass accurate encounter rates given the different ways it can be effected.
