I know it's a little late to say this, but I was wondering if the "ryu" from "Staryu" could derive from "''ryuu''sei" ( 流星; りゅうせい )? Ryuusei means shooting star/meteor in Japanese, and I think this fits Staryu perfectly-- seeing how it moves around and uses Swift in the air. Then again SM already has Minior, which is the true ''Meteor Pokemon''. What do you guys think?
