Origin

Aside from the fangs, Raikou doesn't look much like a sabretooth tiger to me...--BJG - unsigned comment from Blackjack Gabbiani (talkcontribs)

Well, it has tiger-stripes.--Pokencyclopedia 19:42, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Pronunciation

Where is the correct pronunciation stated? --FabuVinny T-C-S 18:39, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Unless someone has an official source stating that it's rai-ko and not rai-ku, I think that trivia should be removed. Shiny?! 21:58, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree.Mr.Char 00:02, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

It is spelled Raikou and all of the legendary beasts keep their Japanese names, which means that it is pronounced Rai-ko.SONICバリヤ 21:21, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Looks!

Well, he looks more like a cat to me. I'm pretty sure he does to everyone though. Thats not good though, since he IS one of the legendary dogs. I say everyone knew that too. - unsigned comment from Gardevoir (talkcontribs)

Raikou is not one of the "Legendary Dogs". It's one of the Legendary Beasts. However, "Legendary Cats" is more correct than "Dogs"... Entei is a lion, Raikou is a tiger and Suicune is a cheetah. - Taylor 21:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

A bit off topic: Does the star shape on it's nose appear on the G/S frontsprites, or is it just hard to see? - unsigned comment from Ben7229 (talkcontribs)

Roar

Can you see Raikou again after it uses roar? Because it tells you where it's location is when you look it up on the Pokedex, but when I had it trapped, it used the move roar to escape and it doesn't show its location in the Pokedex and I haven't seen it at all. Can you see it again after it uses Roar? - unsigned comment from Zapdos (talkcontribs)

You can see it again if it uses Roar. It only disappears if it faints. This information fits into Roaming Pokémon more than here. --FabuVinny T-C-S 10:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Sightings

I don't believe Ash has ever actually seen Raikou, or any part of it, for that matter. The only time I recall seeing Raikou was during Houndoom's Special Delivery, in which only Togepi and Houndoom saw Raikou's tail. Ash and company weren't present at this time. Xander 01:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

That's exactly what I thought as well when I read the trivia section. Only Togepi and Houndoom saw Raikou's tail. Not Ash. --いぬみみ 02:44, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Name

Is there a way to protect the sections about Raikou's name? It seems a lot of people keep changing Raikou's name pronounciation to "Rai-kuu". I'm sure other members here are sick of having to change it back to "Rai-ko" all the time. --いぬみみ 03:31, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

The solution is simple... PROTECTION! hfc2X 05:20, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

A question

Is there any reason why this piece of trivia is necessary?

  • In Pokémon Gold and Silver, Raikou is incorrectly depicted with short fangs, no cross, an orange cloud, and was missing its ears. This was fixed in Pokémon Crystal version.

I removed it, and then someone added it again. I thought we didn't want any trivia about sprites, so why is this an exception? I'm confused... Wolf 04:20, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Looking back through the trivia it seems to have been added and deleted a bunch of times. After a bit of searching the best mention of "policy" I could find was this comment Sketch posted last year:
We are in the process of removing sprite trivia. There is no need to point out what can already be seen in the sprite section. -Sketch 11:22, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
The trivia in question can easily be seen by looking at the sprite question, so I will remove it. Werdnae (talk) 04:40, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't see it so much as "correction" as it is "adaptation" or "change". Who's to say it's wrong; they just changed their mind or something. To say otherwise is speculation. The crux of the matter, of course, is that we needn't be stating the obvious. —darklordtrom 07:22, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

mispronunciation

"In the 4Kids dub of the anime, Raikou's name is frequently mispronounced as rai-kuu, rather than rai-ko." It's not a mispronunciation it's just a different opinion on how to say it. Come on who's with me? Mr.Char 02:41, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

The Japanese version, the English version of Pokémon Stadium 2, and everything dubbed under TPCi all pronounce it "Rai-coe". 4Kids was the only one who did that. It's not a difference of opinion when everyone else is doing it one way and your the only one who isn't :/ --ケンジガール 02:46, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

What are you talking about?! All Pokémon names are a matter of opinion on how to say them! Just like regular words! Example one of my friends pronounces Arceus Ar-see-us and another pronounces Dialga Die-a-lga should I correct them for having a different opinion on how to say them?Mr.Char 23:59, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, but we are using the official pronouciation of the word. Not just random people's pronunciations. You can have your own way of saying it, but from here it would be best suited just to use the ones for the official sources. --Pokemaster97 00:06, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Are there actually any official pronounciations? Arceus was pronounced differently. XVuvuzela2010X 00:09, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Aren't we supposed to have a neutral point of view? - unsigned comment from LatiasRider (talkcontribs)

Response to Origin Above

Real Tigers have stripes! It is unknown if Saber-toothed cats had stripes or not.Bennell 14:43, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Gods?!

Why did someone add that Raikou is based on various Thunder and Lightning Gods around the world in the origin section? The only thunder and lightning creature I know it is based on is Raiju .Bennell 14:43, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Using Deity/Deities derived terms when speaking generically

What is wrong with using deity/deities or derived terms when speaking generically (no gender connotations that is)?

Jdogno4 (talk) 06:50, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Name Origin

It says that Raijuu is inspired by the term Raikou which means lightning. This seems patently false and is speculation that is unrelated to the name. Further it is already mentioned in the origin section that Raikou itself may be inspired by Raijuu, thus making this bit redundant.--Vanya (talk) 01:41, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
