3DSWare?

Would this be called 3DSWare? Heck, has the name 3DSWare ever been confirmed? (trademarks and Nintendo Greece logos don't count)--immewnitythemew 16:39, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

No, Nintendo isn't using the term "3DSWare". Instead they're calling downloadable titles from the eShop "Nintendo 3DS download software". Tyeforce 07:27, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Wait...

Where did this say this would be free for a limited time? --Jonouchi 18:11, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Possible Trivia

I think it is noteworthy that the game was released on western shores in the very week after it has been announced. To my knowledge, no game has ever come close to being released the very week after it was revealed, so I think it should be mentioned in the article. Torngentleman2 19:46, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

  • And when I said 'no game', I meant no Pokémon game. Torngentleman2 19:47, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

QR Codes

Is Bulbapedia going to have a list of each Pokemon's QR Code for the Pokedex 3D? King Riolu 10:01, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Talking to Archaic, he's told me no, at least not yet. Perhaps eventually, if Nintendo won't kill us. TTEchidna 11:58, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Someone added an image of the codes anyway. BTW, though Wikipedia would almost certainly call this original research, I've cracked the code and discovered that it is based on NATIONAL Pokedex numbers, meaning you can create codes for non-Unova Pokemon. They don't work yet, of course, but it's not difficult to figure out what the codes are. The alternate formes use "Pokedex numbers" in the 700s, leaving exactly enough space for every non-Unovan alternate forme (and Meloetta and Genesect's). Thus, it's possible (but not necessarily the case) that this could be updated for other generations in the future. I won't put this on the page unless people think it's exceptionally notable, but I figured it should be said on the Talk page, at least. --HeroicJay 22:52, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Quick help

Are the Pokemon that people start out with the same across all units, or are they random? Because I was thinking about adding a list of that nature to help this article out. --Jonouchi 20:29, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Yes, everyone starts with the starters in all three stages, Audino, Minccino, Axew, Foongus, Emolga, Scraggy, and Hydreigon. --HeroicJay 18:10, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Trivia?

I think it is noteworthy that this is the first Pokémon game not to feature Pikachu in any way, shape or form. I'll let the admins decide though. Torngentleman2 19:59, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm no admin, but since the game is able to download updates (which could include a National Dex), and has data for Volt Tackle, the signature move of the Pikachu line, I wouldn't jump on that just yet. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 21:27, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Apparently old me was a noob, things like this aren't necessarily down to the admins. Regardless, it is now true that this game is the only one to lack Pikachu. ToastUltimatum 01:27, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Not-so-QR codes

Just one look at Wikipedia's page will show that the images for this app are not, in fact, QR codes. They're a similar concept, sure, but "similar" does not mean "the same". The game's digital manual refers to them as "AR markers" (AR = "Altered Reality", which is how Nintendo refers to anything that puts game graphics over images from the cameras.) --HeroicJay 02:24, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

"AR" is "augmented reality", not "altered reality". Thermorules123 18:56, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

3D Photos

Will Pokemon have their 3D picture (not their marker, just the actual picture) uploaded onto the servers and available for viewing on their pages? --Scepiewit 08:48, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

What servers and pages? Bulbapedia’s? This talk page is about this article, try asking that in the forums or on Talk:Main Page. --LaprasBoi 15:35, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
I believe they are asking if we will upload an image of how a Pokémon looks within the AR viewer. I'm not against it, but do we need it? Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:38, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
No, I don’t think so, he or she specified “on their pages”. --LaprasBoi 23:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Incomplete?

So, a bunch of us have added and refined a LOT of info in the past week or two. What still needs to be added for the incomplete template to go away? I don’t think we’re going to get sales data on a free download. So the only other thing I can think of is a reception section with reviews and such. If there’s anything else, please mention it here AND add it to the template. --LaprasBoi 15:35, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

  • ahem* Nothing? So I’m going to go ahead and remove the tag, then. --LaprasBoi 23:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Limit to SpotPass Pokemon?

Unless there's some other issue at hand here, there appears to be a limit to how many Pokemon can be obtained using the SpotPass feature. As of yesterday, I am no longer receiving my daily Pokemon (despite being in wireless range), and if I've done the math correctly, my last Pokemon was the 70th one I got via SpotPass. That doesn't seem like just a random number, so I'm inclined to believe that there may be a limit of 70 SpotPass distribs - and if that is the case, we should add it to the article.

Has anyone else seemingly hit such a limit? 梅子 03:13, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Hmm...if I've done my math correctly, I've obtained 85 so far via SpotPass. I have 107, you start off with 16, 6 are available for scan, so 107-22 = 85. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not getting any more either. All I have left to get are Pansage, Simisage, Pansear, Simisear, the male forms of Unfezant, Frillish and Jellicent, and the Summer, Autumn, and Winter forms of Deerling and Sawsbuck (yeah, I did a little cheating with the clock initially). - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 03:20, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
I hit a "bug" on mine where it wouldn't recieve them for a few days. I'd recieved less than 10 Pokémon at the time. It fixed itself when I left the 3DS off for 24 hours (presumably turning off Spot Pass for 24 hours would do the same?) I suspect is had something to do with me accessing it shortly before I could recieve them, and then leaving it sleeping until after I could, causing it to not reset to being able to recieve them 24 hours after the last time. Had either of you done anything similar before that started? Maybe we can figure out the cause. Werdnae (talk) 03:26, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Pansage, Simisage, Pansear, Simisear, the male forms of Unfezant, Frillish and Jellicent, and the Summer, Autumn, and Winter forms of Deerling and Sawsbuck

Thinking on it, I've only gotten the evo line of one of the elemental monkeys as well. My brother only got one of the evo lines too. Male Unfezant, Frillish, and Jellicent are also what I'm missing, but I've gotten the Summer and Winter forms of Deerling and Sawsbuck.
So I suppose it's not a limit on number, but for the monkeys perhaps there's a hidden value that determines which type you get? Perhaps a value for the gender differences too; I'm not sure about the deer though. 梅子 04:07, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah...now that you mention it...in terms of what has been mentioned I've only got the Panpour line, Male Unfezant, and Male Jellicent...and Summer Sawsbuck. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 04:16, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Wait, I was mistaken before, I have male Unfezant, not female. And come to think of it, the summer deer came from my brother; I've only gotten the winter forms via Spotpass.
So I suppose that must be it... It'd be nice to know exactly what determines what you'll get though. 梅子 04:21, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
That does seem to be the case( I have Pan/Simipour, Unfezant♀, Summer Deerling, & Frillish/Jellicent♂). Probably random; or something in console settings like the name, greeting, favorite color, etc.. Glad you discovered this, I will encourage everyone at the next Boston 3DS Meetup to send and receive forms they don’t have. It sucks that they would include this limitation in a game that doesn’t have online trading, or even StreetPass( meaning you have to know the person and deliberately get together to trade). --LaprasBoi 23:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
No, I have had the game running during reception time, both active and sleeping, and still received them. Although sometimes I did have to Home-Resume and sleep in both modes before they showed up. --LaprasBoi 23:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
No, I don’t think there is any absolute limit; as of today I have received 114 that way.( 30 days of June - 5 = 25 + 13 days of July = 38 × 3 = 114; + 16 starters = 130 + 6 Legendaries from scanning = 136, my current total). However, yesterday download didn’t initiate until I cheated the clock forward to get the blue dot, then back before receiving the Pokémon. Today I received them normally, though, while playing LoZ:OoT 3d. So maybe there is a number limit but you can reset it by cheating? Or maybe the server just had issues yesterday. --LaprasBoi 23:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Oooh! Just realized something. If our theory is correct, the number of entries each player can get without trading is 151. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but doesn’t it seem odd that with all the others limited to either/or, you can get both types of Basculin and both modes of Darmanitan? If no one has any evidence to the contrary, I am going to go ahead and add all this to the article. --LaprasBoi 19:33, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
If it helps, I only recieved Sawk from spotpass today while I usually get 3. The only Pokemon I am missing are Pan/Simisage/pour, Male Unfezant, Frillish and Jellicent, Spring, autum, winter Deerling and Sawsbuck. The clock is set to summer and yes, without those few, I have 151, including both Basculin and Darmanitan Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 12:31, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
Hang on. The clock's set to summer? Is that what it was last time you played BW on the 3DS, or is there a new option for that in the 3DS? Werdnae (talk) 21:09, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
No, I ment a summer month, and scratch what I said for I realise it is actully autum in Pokemon, and I got summer Sawsbuck during ths autum month Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 21:22, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Zekrom

Is it me or does Zekrom in Pokédex 3D look more like the shiny form? I'm basing this on the fact that the main body is considerably lighter than the rest. Thermorules123 18:51, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

No. Shiny Zekrom isn't just a lighter version of Zekrom. It's more of a blue color and a green tip, plus it has blue eyes. The in-game Zekrom is considerably lighter than its sprite, but has red eyes and a blue tip. Plus it's light in its artwork and many other mediums. So you can see all the details, I guess. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 19:51, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

The certain game

It says in this article you have to play certain games to get some more Pokémon. May I ask what the certain games are? --☆YoshisWorld☆ 23:29, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

The article says no such thing. --HeroicJay 00:41, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
And I quote, "Using the Nintendo 3DS's SpotPass feature, it is possible to receive Pokémon entries while the 3DS is in sleep mode or while playing certain games, as long as there is access to the Internet (i.e., in a 3DS-compatible Wi-Fi hotspot, or within range of a configured WLAN). Pokémon are distributed at random, three per day to each player accessing SpotPass.". --☆YoshisWorld☆ 16:08, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
That means that SpotPass works while you're playing certain games, and that it doesn't work while you're playing others. It does not mean that playing certain games is required for anything. --HeroicJay 16:16, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sorry. Thanks for your help. --☆YoshisWorld☆ 19:24, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Nintendo Power V271

If it is any interest, there is a Pokédex 3D AR Marker for Tornadus in the September 2011 issue of Nintendo Power. Teaser: "Check back next issue for yet another Legendary Flying-type Pokémon!" —MasterKenobi 22:57, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I guess we could have a section for AR Markers that have appeared outside of Pokédex 3D itself officially. Maybe after we get more of them. --SnorlaxMonster 14:19, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Something bugging me

Does downloading a "limited" pokemon (elemental monkeys, Deerling/Sawsbuck season formes, etc.) limit which ones will download, or will it guarantee a different one? For example, I have a nearly completed dex, and my GF just got her 3DS. If I send over, say, female Unfezant, will that prevent her from downloading the male one instead, or ensure it? --KingStarscream 00:21, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Given various discussions I've had about the Pokédex 3D, to the best of my understanding, no, it will not ensure that your girlfriend will get the male Unfezant. Not sure at this point if it will prevent it - that's actually possible. Best bet is to not trade any of the alternates until after she gets them normally - and if she gets the same as you, bad luck. --HeroicJay 19:48, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Manipulation

Maybe there should be some mention of this? Vuvuzela2010 Δ 02:43, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

12 Copying Markers

What are they? I've tried looking up Pokedex 3D copying markers, and the only result that comes up is this page. Were they maybe renamed? Vuvuzela2010 Δ 01:16, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

The only place I've even seen them explained by an official source is the Japanese guidebook, so they may not even have an official English name. They copy the nearest Pokémon to them so you can do something like have something like an army of one Pokémon on screen, which without them isn't possible since Pokédex 3D doesn't let you use two of the same code at once. It seems they have been separately discovered and named "COPY" by someone on gamefaqs though. [1] [2] Bluesun 06:33, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Bird Pokémon Silhouette Pokédex 3D Pro

Pokédex 3D Pro What's with this new Bird Pokémon Silhouette Poké beach is talking about http://pokebeach.com/2012/04/nintendo-direct-announces-pokemon-ar-searcher-and-pokedex-3d-pro ???? Is this a real thing, or a hoax? Yamitora1 23:10, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

That isn't Pokédex 3D Pro, that's an AR searcher app. And it's Archeops. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 23:14, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh, Ok. ^^; lol sorry about that, you see i had no idea what Pokédex 3D was until today, so i guess i got confused. Ok thx for the intell. Yamitora1 23:18, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually, it appears to be an alternate forme of Tornadus... Never saw why anyone thought it was Archeops to begin with. --HeroicJay 18:34, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
I believe its because of Archeops' head; it kind of has the same shape (though obviously not length) as what everyone assumed was a crest.
I forgot all about this until today when i saw Landorus' new form on deviantART and googled him and sacred beast form. Yamitora1 22:13, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Pro

Will Genesect and the Sacred Beasts be in Pokédex 3D Pro?- unsigned comment from Jakovu (talkcontribs)

The Reijuu probably will be. No word on Genesect since it hasn't been released yet. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 02:38, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Pro Realease Date

It says in the article that Pokédex 3D Pro will be released in Japan 6/14/12, but I have read other sources that say 7/14/12. Is there an official source we can use to confirm the official Japan release date? If the one in the article is correct, it should be available now or very soon.--Jakovu (talk) 22:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
