Unwilling

I'm in Lilycove and my Gyarados is "unwilling" to forget Surf. Does anybody know why? And If so should it have some sort of mention in the article? I don't know if this is a normal thing and I'm just finding out about it, but this has never happened before and I'm a little confused. Has anybody else have this problem or is it just me?Zabbethx 22:28, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

More or less, you don't have another Pokemon with Surf. tc26 22:30, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Yep, that fixed it. I tought Surf to my Rayquaza and Gyarados was able to forget it. Thanks a bunch TC26. Zabbethx 22:36, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem. That's one of the most common things that occur. I added that to this article also. tc26 22:48, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Why?

I don't understand why this is done. It says in the article that it is so you won't get stuck in a place you need to use an HM move. This is really inconvenient, and I can only see one reason HMs would not be available so that you can just teach the Pokémon that. This can easily be remedied by barring HMs from being put in the item storage in the PC. Are there any other reasons HMs would not be available for use? --'Clorox 03:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think anyone here works for Game Freak or Nintendo, so nobody here would know the reason. Oh, and I don't think images are allowed in signatures. - s.Combusken 03:34, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
In FireRed, I managed to delete HM moves without another pokemon knowing them. Perhaps that statement only reflects R/S/E? Or maybe it was due to the fact that I had the HMs in my inventory at the time. --Mordarto 20:28, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Infobox

The infobox is quite, quite funkified at the moment. I dunno how to fix it, so maybe someone else could? Yinyang107 06:45, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

New comments to the bottom please. As far as I can tell, it's just square rather than roundy until {{roundy}} is repaired. Werdnae (talk) 06:55, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Conflicting Information

We have someone playing R/S/E who says they couldn't delete an HM move, and someone playing FR/LG saying they could. Can we please get this information clarified for all generations so that we can more accurately edit the article?--PhantomJunkie 16:42, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I've migrated dozens of Pokémon from Emerald and FireRed to my Diamond; you can definitely remove HMs in both games. —darklordtrom 11:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Sprites

Should we add overworld sprites like we did for the move relearner page?--ShinyPatch (talk) 21:48, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

HM restrictions

Some articles on Bulbapedia say players need multiple Pokemon knowing an HM move to make one of them forget that move, some articles say it only applies to surf, and some other articles say it only applies to Emerald. What's the full list of restrictions (for each game, if they're different among different games)? sumwun (talk) 17:59, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

It depends on the article. The Lilycove article (for example) is saying that it prevents players from deleting an HM move to prevent situations where the player may get stuck. It is not implying that the player will be stuck in Lilycove, since you can still leave the city by foot through Route 121.--ForceFire 05:13, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Sometimes that's not true. I just deleted moves like rock smash and fly off all my Pokemon in Emerald and it worked just fine. So does this only apply to surf in E and to all HMs in ORAS or something like that? sumwun (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
I've been through this before. Checking now, all HM moves can also be deleted in XY and ORAS. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:11, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
So now we know all the restrictions on E, XY, and ORAS. Any other games? sumwun (talk) 03:04, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
