Congrats Bulbapedia

Congrats on all of the hits. I'm only confused on the gender demographic.GJ 01:35, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

You do realize that's an Advertisement right? --Force Fire 01:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't know whether Quantcast screwed up, or whether they're actually referring to a separate site. See, http://www.bulbapedia.com isn't affiliated with Bulbagarden or this wiki, to my knowledge. We're a different web address. So, either Quantcast's research does reflect our site and they just assumed our suffix was .com, or those stats actually have nothing to do with this wiki. --ニョロトノ666 01:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net is listed in the "similar audience" column to the right. I guess people go to bulbapedia.com when they hear about the site but not the URL. Anyway, we're doing even better than bulbapedia.com. --Martonimos((Talk)) 01:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Typical human response. It's American English, not British. It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links07:24 2 Jun 2008
American English would have the "z" in catergorizing. Since we use American English, it should be changed. MoldyOrange 12:13, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
It has been stated not to change from one to the other for the sheer sake of it. Either can be used, but American English is preferred. Glinn Mgraw 12:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Wait, where is it misspelled anyway? TTEchidna 22:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Collapsible Navboxes

can bulbapedia do collapsible boxes, and if so, how? OrigamiGuy-Talk-Contribs-Mudkipz 21:14, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

We can, yes, we just haven't yet because we're against pretty much just jacking everyone's code. We likely will soon enough. TTEchidna 22:51, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
But wikipedia and bulbapedia both run on mediawiki, so everything that works on one will work on the other, so why the big 'stealing other wikis code is not nice' thing? OrigamiGuy-Talk-Contribs-Mudkipz 23:02, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Depending on the .js or .css coding we use, there's a few that are out there specifically to be used by anyone, so they're safe to take. I know of two types of collapsible boxes, I think... if I can just find the right one, I can check the source on it, it's easy enough to get up and running. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 09:32, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
is it done yet? Lord of Origami 11:37, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't think I like them... They make things inconvienent and they subtract from the pages overall view. They make articles look lesss...complete. MoldyOrange 11:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
They've been added now. Inconvenient is only a matter of perspective; yes, you need to click to read everything, but at the same time, on pages that need collapsible boxes, it's easier to find what you're looking for when the big stuff's hidden initially. Anyway, see User talk:Poke/CollapsibleTables.js for the coding and instructions. You can format and color the tables just like any other table, so no worries about messing up themes or a page's "overall view". -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 00:15, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Anime pics

How do you get pictures of the anime episodes? If I try to play one on my computer and press "Print Scrn", the window where the video was is black. Is there any way around this? --Shiny Noctowl 23:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

We just get them fro Filb.de. But if you have Windows Movie Maker or some other type of movie maker, you can take screenshots from there. I'm sure websites like Filb.de use some special kind of program to get screenshots. --ケンジガール 23:07, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
DVD Shrink saved the DVD as a .ifo file, and Windows Movie Maker won't let me open it. What file type do I need to convert it to and how do I convert it to the correct type? --Shiny Noctowl 23:11, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
[1] Zurqoxn 03:44, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

I have the "download codecs automatically" box checked, and I'm on an administrator account, but I get the error message:

The file F:\My Documents\My Videos\Pokémon The Rise of Darkrai.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

I've tried closing and restarting Windows Movie Maker several times but it still gives me the error. --Shiny Noctowl 20:47, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

If you could pause it without messing up the image, maybe you could just photo it. Theininen 20:00, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
A lot of video players have a feature that allows you to take screenshots. Media Player Classic is a good one. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 20:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

James' not James's!!!!!!

EVERY SINGLE POSSESIVE FORM FOR JAMES ON THIS SITE IS WRONG! The possesive form of James is James', NOT James'sEmperor's Cookies 13:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Then fix it when you see it's wrong. -Sketchies 13:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, both James's and James' are accepted possessive forms. (Note that that the 's is insisted upon in the The MLA Style Manual, as well as the Elements of Style which I believe is the writing standard we follow at Bulbapedia) The key is uniformity in the writing, thus, why James's is used on the Bulbapedia. Trainer-c 13:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Now that they are moved, doesn't that mean we have double redirects everywhere?!? MoldyOrange
But proper english has s not s's. See here http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_apost.html Emperor's Cookies 14:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I'll get right on that. MoldyOrange 14:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
The links I provided clearly state that both are in fact "proper English" and anyone that has written professionally adheres to the Elements of Style, and The MLA Style Manual. I would ask about this on the forums before going wild with editing and redirecting everything.
I really don't think that this will work because both the OP and the TP Templates/shortlinks only work and will result in James's Pokémon. MoldyOrange 14:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
The very page you cite does not support your claim. I quote, "add 's to the singular form of the word (even if it ends in -s)". James is, of course, singular. - 振霖T 15:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I asked my English teacher today, and it confirmed my thoughts that it's always just an apostrophe at the end of a name if the name ends with s. Porygon-Z 17:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Let's not forget it's the same English teachers who tell us that prepositions are not appropriate words to end sentences with. They are not always correct. James's is correct and the standard on Bulbapedia, end of discussion. - 振霖T 02:05, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

And apparently there are people who will never learn. Due to actions by a user called, fittingly enough, Arbok and Weezing, every article starting with "James's" can no longer be moved by someone who doesn't have sysop powers. This blatant disregard for style left me with no choice. This whole issue has been discussed over and over again, and still people insist that the "James's" way is 100% incorrect. Please contact a sysop if a legitimate title change is necessary (such as James's Mime Jr. evolving, NOT changing James's Chimecho to "James' Chimecho"). --Shiningpikablu252 06:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Isn't it funny that people are fighting over whether an "s" goes on the end of James or not? People should learn that it's a certain way on Bulbapedia and that they should abide by it.--ケンジガール 06:16, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

It's not so much that they argue...it's just...are tantrums necessary? And English is probably the worst of them all in terms of consistency. There's ten million ways to do everything. (So yeah...no screaming about it please.)--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 08:00, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
This is probably where it is confusing people. There is a rule for names ending in "s" "vowel" "s". They probably think James falls under it when it doesn't. The only two names that do are Jesus and Moses. So those are the only two names and they actually should be Jesus' and Moses'. Those are the only two! MoldyOrange 13:20, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Correction, I asked the Advanced Placement English teacher from my school which it should be (who has a doctorate in english!) and she said that it should always be James's and the only ones that do apply (Jesus and Moses) can actually go either way. So from now on, it should be James's, the correct way! MoldyOrange 13:36, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

That's due to the content having originally been posted on the talk page. Even prior to the userspace ban, there were instances where people had posted content more appropriate for the User namespace in the User talk namespace, and since this content didn't appear to be a blatant attempt to get around the userspace ban, the content was moved. --Shiningpikablu252 14:14, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

If I had been told that it would be wiped, I would have taken the axe to all the junk..... once again, would have been nice to have been forewarnedEmperor's Cookies 18:41, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
You had fanfiction on it. What exactly do you think the forums are for if you're cluttering the wiki up with tripe like that? Ketsuban 20:40, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
This has gone way beyond the point of "warning" people. Honestly though, you have been warned. The discussion on the Bulbapedia forum has been going on for long enough that everyone should have seen what was going to happen, and what kinds of things are unacceptable. This junk in the user space that has nothing to do with Bulbapedia has been killing the server, and we've put up with it long enough. If you want to store fanfiction on Bulbagarden, that's what library.bulbagarden.net is for. If you want to have long discussions about any topic, that's what BMGf is for. --Archaic 00:32, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Users with talk-page content that isn't about Bulbapedia should be warned ahead of time to give them time to back up the pages (this obviously applies only to things like fanfiction that the user might actually want to keep). --Shiny Noctowl 01:03, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

They can retrieve the information from the history, so it really makes no difference if they're warned or not. --Archaic 01:32, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, when it is delted, you cant pull back from the history. And I already kiled the fan fic.Emperor's Cookies 01:49, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
When removing stuff from talk pages, it's a much better idea to blank the page, not delete it. Deletion does absolutely nothing that blanking wouldn't do in this situation; the pages are still retained in the server database. At the very least, give users the ability to see what got deleted. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 01:53, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Bots

How do you create bots? I want to make one myself rather than having someone else make one for me. --Shiny Noctowl 16:12, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

If it isn't something that would be possible for me to do, I'd like a "shortcut" bot, named ShinyBot, that would change the following shortcuts into the correct code (to make editing easier by causing users to have to type less):

/d\→δ

/e\→é

/m\→♂

/f\→♀

//Pokédex number\\→[[Image:Pokédex number.png]]

/>page name<\→#redirect[[page name]]

/[image name][image height][image width][title][page name]\→{{Imagelink|image name|image height|image width|title|page name}}

More shortcuts possibly coming...

It's a bug. Images uploaded on the Archives may not show up on the Bulbapedia side at first. The situation usually sorts itself out over time, so I'd recommend leaving them as is--it'll probably fix itself eventually. --Shiningpikablu252 21:25, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Userspace

No, this isn't another whine or complaint, it's an idea. Instead of having the admins try to find some complex programming to make a edit limit, why not try to ask Bulbagarden to make a new area to put the userspace in? Have the userspace from the forums, the archives, the wiki, everything, on a new server? Just thought I'd throw the idea out there and have someone at least tell me why it won't work. Theininen 17:42, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Servers aren't free. -Sketchies 17:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but put some of the donations from all the divisions toward it, and tell people that it would bring back the userspace... Theininen 17:45, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

There's honestly no reason to actually have a userspace, i liked it better when i couldn't see mine. It's pointless unless you really want people to know every detail about you, IMO.Boywonder01 17:52, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Why not just redirect all userspace pages to talk pages and be done with it? -- Unown Q 22:32, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

at this point, it looks like the userspace will be dissallowed and user pages will have little information on them. seriously, you join to edit and contribute, not to show off your ideas. -- MAGNEDETH 22:44, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Something to think about: Over on MarioWiki, one of our admins started a separate wiki (through wikia) called Userpedia, which is for all the community and fan crap. That might be a good solution to Bulbapedia's problems. -- Unown Q 22:51, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I had heard about that, that's sort of what gave me the idea. Theininen 00:43, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
It works out rather well, with the occasional overlap. I recently proposed to my fellow admins about doing what Bulbapedia did and just block all userspace edits. -- Unown Q 01:00, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I kinda like this ban, it weeds out the trolls and Bulbapedia moves forward.Of course, if it's permanent, you know the trolls will call shenanigans on the admins and the entire wiki.Boywonder01 01:12, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
the idea may be an easy way out, but Zhen doesnt have the money to support another server. especially one for users to play around on. especially considering he already has something like that. -- MAGNEDETH 01:31, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Why not delete the user pages and user talk pages of users who dont use bulba anymore?Emperor's Cookies 18:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
But then you have the problem of, what designates a user who doesn't use bulbapedia anymore? You can't ask them if they still use it, you can't be sure they'll give you an answer. Lots of users "lurk" (use the site, but don't necessarily edit all the time). Maybe a year's worth of inactivity, but that's not exactly easy to enforce.
I think userspace is still an important thing to have; it's always good to know who's who. A name only tells you so much. But there's a lot of stuff that doesn't need to be on a userpage. I want to know the editor, not know every little detail about the person and their family. K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) is a good rule for userspace.
Re-enabling userspace with restrictions, either on size, or scope, or number of edits, or all of the above... seems like a good idea. The problem is, how to do this simply. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 18:28, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

My Pokémon Ranch

This is a new game avaliable for download on Wii (and since it is WiiWare, you have to have WiFi). As I was playing earlier, I realized that when Haley brings in Pokémon to the ranch, a description of the species appears. I'm not sure if it's identical to any descriptions so far, but I think it might be useful if it's put under "Pokédex Description" on the appropriate pages, though it's not really a Pokédex. Crüsäder 14:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Could be worth a shot since Gen I & II Pokémon have their "Stadium" descriptions. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:19, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
The only problem is, it doesn't show descriptions for all Pokémon, only the ones she brings in (as far as I've found, anyway). Crüsäder 18:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh... Then maybe it's not that notable. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 18:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
If we can get a full set, it will probably be worth adding. How many Pokémon species can she bring in? --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
She usually brings in one a day. Crüsäder 16:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Is there potential for her to bring in one of every kind of Pokémon? ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 16:42, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

You can have 1000 Pokémon in there so if anyone is willing to wait 1000 days to find out, then maybe it is. I doubt she will bring in the event pokémon though... Rabla (i don't have a sig yet)

Hayley brought in a Hariyama to my ranch yesterday and its description was the same as its Pokédex entry on Diamond and Pearl (both are the same). So I'm guessing this is the same for all Pokémon. As for Pokémon with two different Pokédex entries, I'm not sure which she'll use. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Bulbapedia Pokémon League

Ok here’s the thing, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a Pokémon League with other Uses here on Bulba, after all most of us like making strong Pokémon teams – why not test them out. It would work over the WiFi using the D/P and PBR friend codes.

If you’re interested put your Sig below the Possible Rules on my talk page & I'll see how many are interested and we can go from there, I was thinking of starting it in about two weeks to give people time to get the Pokémon ready.

Ho hum. The sidebar advertisement is actually well-placed, it's not in the way of anything. And it's banner ads for stuff like Nintendo (and Zwinky), so that's not awful either. I'm not liking the fat advertisement at the bottoms of pages (it should really be a horizontal banner ad, and not within the page content box). But all in all, it's a pretty sweet deal; site seems fast enough already, no ads when logged in, and all that. I'm jealous; GuildWiki is actually losing members over it's advertising system. (Wikia bought GuildWiki out, and they have really crappy ad locations, such as right in the middle of the page.)

requests

can we get a suggestion box that comes out of the search menu like wikipedia that way we get rid of the disambugation pages? and can we upload to the site the Pokémon movies and be downloadable for members only? so if we do it do not spread the news. Please reply back, an admin please!!!!!!!!!!--Nobody777 14:37, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm not an admin, but I seriously doubt that the movies will ever be available like that on this site. That is called piracy, after all. As far as the suggestion box thing, that'll probably happen when the wiki media deal gets an upgrade. Wikipedia is used as a testing ground for that stuff before other wikis get it. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:06, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
NO!! Disambiguation pages are nice and convienent. MoldyOrange 16:36, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
One, we had a vote on the Pokémon disambigs before. We're not gonna get rid of them. However, there is that sort of "suggestions" thing for the searchbar that I have in Firefox.
Also, downloadable movies? Dude, we're lucky that Nintendo isn't as sue-happy as Scientology for us just using official TCG cards. TTEchidna 19:00, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Besides, Wikipedia still has its disambiguation pages even though it uses the suggestion table as you're typing into the search window. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 19:24, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

so lets say you type Pikachu, but you want Ash's Pikachu so the suggestion box will appear: Pikachu (species) Pikachu (Ash) redirects to Ash's Pikachu Pikachu (Ritchie) redirects to Ritchies Pikachu so this how it works, sorry about the movie thing I forgot about piracy. Also when you login and go to the main page, at the bottom can we also show how many active memebers in bulbapedia are present? --Nobody777 05:56, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Categories for players of all game versions

Why do we have categories for OSes (like "Windows Users" or "Linux users"), browsers (like "Firefox users"), even for types (like "Water users"), but no special categories for different game versions? IMHO, we should create them and add to {{User Diamond}}, {{User Pearl}}, {{User Emerald}} and other game tags. At least everyone would know, who might want to trade some version-exclusives. --Pokeresp 11:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, a good question. My guess is that nobody thought to categorize the templates... I think it shouldn't be tough to add them in. Games aren't region-exclusive, correct? Meaning some with a Japanese Blue can trade with someone with an English Blue... so in the case of the (JP) game templates, I say we categorize those just as Blue and Red versions. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I think, it would be better to add each template to both categories, e.g. "Players of Diamond" and "Players of Diamond (Japanese version)", since Pokémon from other regions get an experience bonus. But such categorising would not help only trading, but would also be good for statistical purposes :-) etc. --Pokeresp 17:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
For things like Japanese Diamond, there'd be no point, since they're the same game. Besides, you're forgetting, Pokémon that have been traded always gain an EXP boost, not just from other regions. I was merely meaning Japanese Blue, but I might need to look at that one in particular again; I think there was something about the Japanese Blue only being in Japanese, and the English Blue being a different game entirely. Otherwise, for trading purposes, both categories could be put in a single box, so people looking for players with Blue don't need to check multiple categories. I'll check it now, and probably start adding tags while I'm at it. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:36, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
All done. I just need to give the categories their own pages. Blue and Blue (JP) are different games, so no need for multiple tags there. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 00:10, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Is it possible to do it without the label moving when the text appears? Or with the label disappearing, so that the text could be shown and not hidden again? --Pokeresp 11:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
If you set the box width in the code (put <width="350px"> in the table), then it should lock it in at the same size, open or closed.
There's no way to lock a table open though, not unless you simply take the expandable class out. :P -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
But it's impossible to take "expandable" class out, because embedding html code is disabled on Bulbapedia. However, I at least succeeded in making the table caption "stand still".
UPDATE. I've noticed an interesting effect in Opera 9.51. Before the whole page is loaded, all expandable tables are not collapsed. This means, if a spoiler will be hidden in such table, someone using Opera will have to avoid looking at the screen while the page is loading...
--Pokeresp 16:29, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
That's normal for all browsers; it loads the page content first, then loads the show/hide script. People will just have to make due as normal, back when we didn't have the show/hide script; don't scroll down when you see a spoiler alert.
And as for the table you just made, if you give it a set width, it'll lock the little show/hide button in one spot. No need to add the border like I did, I only did that to make it easier to see what the table was doing.
What I meant about taking the expandable class out:
This table is locked in the open position.
Because this table has had the expandable class removed, it can't be closed. Ta-da.

Why are the minutes different on the two templates? --Shiny Noctowl 01:29, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Good question. I suppose it depends on how the CURRENTTIME tool works, or something. Maybe one of them gets the time from one place, while the other gets it from somewhere else? They're exactly five minutes apart, that sounds almost like a refresh rate on something perhaps. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:04, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Because {{#time: m}} is the month number with a leading zero. It's March, so it's 03. The correct minutes would be {{#time: i}}, as you can see...
{{#time: H}}:{{#time: i}} makes 01:10
{{CURRENTTIME}} makes 01:10
It's the same. Now watch this random calculated number change like nobody's business! 0 (hint: it's (1711674602%02) + (88%1)). TTEchidna 02:48, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Idea

Okay, seeing as I'm not a part of any other part of bulbapedia, I can't post it anywhere else. The idea is a Pokémon fan wiki. Basically, it's a wiki for fanfic, ideas, interactive games, text adventures and anything else. I'ma guess you'd be able to make pages on your own fake pokémon. If you juys already have this, I apologize because I would not know. I got the idea from http://fanstuff.hrwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page . Strong Intelligent

It sounds like a fun idea. I don't think it's a realistic option for Bulbapedia, or our servers; there's already a lot on the wiki, and we've already got limits on userspace stuff, because fanfics and games have clogged the servers before.
But a wiki dedicated to the topic might be fun. It's actually not all that hard to start your own wiki, if you can find a webhost... I've got one of my own running on a mildly reliable free webhost. So don't forget that starting one yourself is a fine option. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 19:19, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm all for it. I don't have the money, time, know-how or "care" factor to do it myself, but a fan wiki would attract all the fancrufters away from here to a place where they can post their stuff without fear of reprimand or deletion. Transformers and Super Mario do it, I know, so I think it's a good idea. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 02:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
"Welcome to Pokémon Fancruft Wiki! Have fun editing here!"
...while I doubt that name would go over well, the basic idea would be popular. The question would be, is a Wiki really the best place for such things, or perhaps a simpler, "normal" submission-type website? Lots of people like fanfics, but how many like posting fanfics in a wiki?
Not counting the people here who do just that; most of them post fanfics here because they're already members, and at least a little familiar with wiki-code. Your average Pokémon fanboy/fangirl might not be so wiki-literate. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:02, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Everyone at the HRFWiki, WIki user Wiki and Kirby fanstuff wiki. BTW: it's fanSTUFF not fancruft. Strong Intelligent
I was quoting Martonimos on the "Fancruft", and he was quoting Zhen Lin on it. Sort of an inside joke I suppose, we both know what it's supposed to be called. :P -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:21, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I've only ever heard the term "fancruft." I've never heard it referred to as "fanstuff," so I guess I hang around some really bitter people.
I think a wiki would work really well. It's not just fanfics that people write; they make pages for their characters, essays, teams, predictions, all sorts of stuff that are in article format but not notable (or, more often, canonical) enough to be articles. If, for example, I had been forced to put my GSDS predictions page on another site, one that didn't use wiki-coding, it would have required an extensive rewrite, not just for the code, but the format of the article as a whole. And when you look at the amount of time people spend editing their userpages, even now after the ban, I'd think that a wiki of this sort would be extremely popular. We'd just have to be sure to deflect a few people from Bulbapedia to the Fancruftpedia at first; it'd catch on after a while. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 08:17, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't think you can install without the disk, unfortunately. My laptop is exactly the same. However, I downloaded Firefox 3, and I think that has Asian-character support built-in, because soon after getting it, Kanji and Katakana and Hiragana all started working (online at least, I dunno if it applies to offline too). Perhaps trying that would be a good idea. (and of course, I've mentioned it many times before, Firefox > just about every other browser.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:46, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

But a google search just now found this. I believe I remember downloading something like this a long time ago, as a matter of fact; on my old, Windows 98se computer. I don't know if the "reading Japanese" method they list here works, because when I visited one of the Japanese sites they listed in IE, the characters displayed correctly (apparently IE reaped the benefits of whatever Firefox did)... but worth a try. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 15:22, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't know where to post this question so I'm putting it here.

Would it be to much to ask for the 3D sprites from the 3D games (Stadium,Battle Revolution, etc.) to be in the articles?
